why would you recommend aviodance of prolong stress for a patients with congenital heart disease

why would you recommend aviodance of prolong stress for a patients with congenital heart disease?

Heart Diseases - 1 Answers

1 :
Prolonged stress causes affects heart, immune system By Jane E. Allen, Los Angeles Times When someone is confronted with stress — whether physical or psychological — the brain is the first part of the body to respond, reacting in two distinct ways. In one of the reactions, a regulatory part of the brain called the hypothalamus sends signals through sympathetic nerves near the spinal cord to the adrenal glands, commanding them to release the stress hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine (also called adrenaline and noradrenaline). These hormones gird the body for action. They boost heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and blood flow to the muscles and brain, providing an extra surge of energy in times of physical danger. But chronic stress opens the floodgates to epinephrine and norepinephrine, regardless of whether there’s a threat, allowing bacteria, viruses or tumors to flourish and making blood more prone to clotting. The brain’s other reaction comes through the pituitary gland, which sends signals through the bloodstream instructing the adrenal glands to release the stress hormone cortisol and other steroids. In the right amounts, cortisol helps the body recharge, enhances disease resistance, fights inflammation and improves memory. In excess, however, cortisol promotes the accumulation of abdominal fat, suppresses immunity, shrinks brain cells and impairs memory. Overtime, cells become less sensitive to the protective effects of cortisol, and inflammation goes unchecked. Physical or mental stress can take an enormous and sometimes deadly toll on the heart. It increases blood pressure, narrows blood vessels and causes blood to become stickier and more likely to clot, increasing the likelihood of a heart attack or stroke. In February, Irwin published a study in the American Journal of Psychiatry showing that stress and depression in heart attack patients increase amounts of chemicals that make certain immune cells sticky and help them travel to artery linings, where they produce inflammation and promote coronary artery disease. A study published last week in the journal Circulation found that mental stress also triggers irregular heartbeats, which can be deadly

How can smoking lead to cardiovascular disease which is heart attack

How can smoking lead to cardiovascular disease which is heart attack?
Can smoking can lead to a heart attack? can a passive smoker can get a heart attack too?
Trivia - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The risk is higher depending on how heavily one smokes. Passive smokers are no exception, but less likely to experience heart attack via tobacco. Smoking causes arteries/veins to constrict (tighten). If the person has too much cholesterol in his or her system, then the constriction caused by the nicotine can cause the blood vessels to stick together---inducing a heart attack. Also, the ingredients in nicotine are considered "uppers." They cause the heart to beat faster and work harder than necessary. Finally, the contamination smoking causes to the lungs makes the heart work more than it normally needs to. The smoke kills the oxygen capacity of RBC's (red blood cells). All of this undue stress can cause a heart attack over time.
2 :
smoking can damage all kinds of things.
3 :
Yes, smoking can lead to hardening of the arteries. This causes heart disease. Passive smoking has the same effect.
4 :
Maybe I should tell you since I've recently been diagnosed with Congestive Heart failure (also a cardio vascular disease) and Pulmonary Hypertension.... BOTH of which were caused in part by my 35 YEARS of SMOKING.... I almost died from it this past November and am still TERMINALLY ill with both diseases which will only get progressively worse with time... There is NOTHING more devastating then to have 2 different doctors tell you that you have from 2 months to a couple years left to live......Passive smoking is still smoking and even people who are stuck inhaling second hand smoke can ALSO acquire lung AND heart diseases from the smoke... I quite 7 months ago but alas it is too late---I'm only HOPING that by quitting I have added maybe a few extra MONTHS to my life... had I known way back when what I would be like NOW, I would have NEVER picked up my first cigarette, but I'm glad I picked up my LAST... if you are a smoker QUIT NOW...there are only a HANDFUL of people who continue to smoke and live a LONG, fruitful life---don't bet with your life--you could lose like me and countless others!!!!
5 :
your heart is right between your lungs. when low-oxygen blood come into the heart, it is pumped through the right side of the heart to the lungs, and then back through the left side of the heart to be pumped back to the body. it's all closely intertwined.
6 :
damages the lungs which pump oxygen to the rest of body via the veins which restricts flow to the heart

I believe heart disease is basically "chronic scurvey". What do you think?
I believe that a lack of vitamin C causes small ruptures in the lining of the artery wall and plaque builds up there to prevent you from bleeding to death internally. You end up with problems when too much plaque builds up. Does anyone also believe this theory?
Heart Diseases - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Alot of things can cause heart disease. Alot of it is genetic, lifestyle, people who are not Vit C defficient can and do still have heart attacks. In my case, my heart attacks were caused due to a valve disease. One of my friends died from a heart attack caused because of heart disease brought on by cancer treatment. Heart problems cant be that simply categorized.
2 :
That doesn't hold up very well if you look at the diets of most people in the United States. Most of us get more than enough vitamin C. We have lots of foods that are fortified with it. Many of us take a multivitamin or other supplement that contains vitamin C. Yet heart disease is very, very common in this country despite the fact that vitamin C deficiency is very uncommon. While vitamin C deficiency can weaken blood vessels, it would be very rare in this country to have a case of cardiovascular disease caused by vitamin C deficiency

Is Palpitation consider as a heart disease? if uncontrol and did not take medecine will it be life threatening

Is Palpitation consider as a heart disease? if uncontrol and did not take medecine will it be life threatening

Heart Diseases - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
In my humble opinion, it probably is not considered a heart disease. Palpitation is THE EFFECT when something is wrong with the heart. So you could say that you have a "heart disease" and one of the effect is palpitation. (ie palpitation itself is not THE DISEASE) Palpitation means you have a heart problem and YES - you need to be treated for it. Please see your doctor!
2 :
No palpitations alone are not a heart disease. Most people will have them at some point in their life for various reasons. Palpitations can be begnin or life threatning, depending on what the cause is and what kind it is. If it's a regular occurance it's best to get checked, and if you feel dizzy, faint, light headed, or 'funny' at any point it's a good idea to go to the .E.R just to be safe.

Blood test positive for heart worm disease

Blood test positive for heart worm disease?
The vet told me today that the blood test is positive. It's been 6 months since the treatment. My 1 1/2 year old Boston Terrier has gained weight and is active and play full. The vet told me that in 6 more months the test might be negative. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of thing that might make me feel better? My dog is on Heart Gard.
Dogs - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
This isn't sitting right. If the dog is positive for heartworms, then he needs to be undergoing additional testing to see if the worms are actually present, or on treatment, not just on preventative medicine. http://www.heartwormsociety.org/article.asp?id=11 This should not be a 'wait and see in 6 months' situation. If it were me, I'd be asking for a better explanation of what's going on and if it's doesn't satisfy me or match up to research I've done, I'd find a new vet.
2 :
If your dog was treated for heartworm and cured, the tests now are just to be sure and certainly should NOT show any heartworms - you are misunderstanding something, either he wasn't treated fully or he is reinfected. As long as your dog was cured and is on monthly heartworm preventative, he should be heartworm free. To be specific, there have been cases of heartworm occuring in dogs on preventative, mostly in the New Orleans area - seem some heartworm do not get blocked by the normal preventatives, but that is very rare. You need to get a better answer from your vet - or you did not understand what the "cure" was. The preventative does not cure - it prevents, if your dog had heartworm already, the cure is a 3 stage, rather expensive treatment.
3 :
your dog is on heart guard and got heart worms?????????!!!!!!!! I would file a law suit against heart guard
4 :
My dog, a shepherd/chow mix, had heart worms and he lived for 17 years. We didn't find out he had them until after the fact. So don't despair, it is possible for a dog to get them and live even without treatment. However, if you know your dog has heart worms why isn't he being treated. If your vet has told you to wait and see how it goes I would, absolutely, find another vet. Even if it's just for a second opinion. You owe that much to your dog. I hope all turns out well.
5 :
This is from the Heartworm Society: "Confirmation of Adulticide Efficacy The goal of adulticide treatment is the elimination of all adult heartworms. However, clinical improvement in dogs treated for heartworm infection is possible without completely eliminating the adult heartworms. Heartworm antigen testing is the most reliable method of confirming the efficacy of adulticide therapy. If all the adult worms have been destroyed or very few survive, heartworm antigen should be undetectable after six months post-adulticide. Dogs that remain antigen positive at that time could be considered a potential candidate for repeat treatment with an adulticide only after a full review of each case. In some cases, an alternative is to not retreat with the arsenical but to continue with a preventive such as ivermectin which will gradually eliminate the remaining worms." http://www.heartwormsociety.org/article.asp?id=1143 It looks like your vet is taking the alternative route, by not treating your dog again with Immiticide, but having him on Heartgard to gradually shorten the life of any of the remaining worms. This may be to lessen the shock to his system.
6 :
The industry standard heartworm test measures antigens (protein) from adult heartworms and is a very sensitive and specific test. If your dog was treated for heartworms with Immiticide properly, he should have tested negative about 3-4 months later. It doesn't matter if he's been on Heartgard because that product doesn't kill adults, only microfilaria (babies) and larvae migrating through the body. It's good that he's on Heartgard because it is essentially keeping the adults sterile and preventing disease related to the microfilaria. If I were you, I'd repeat the test elsewhere - if positive, it represents possible treatment failure and you should have the dog retreated with Immiticide. If you dog was on Heartgard during the time he aquired the infection, the manufacturer will pay for treatment if you purchased it from a veterinarian (not on line

A chest x-ray is the most basic of diagnostic tools. It shows only a basic outline of the heart. I would think that if they are looking at issues that involves heart muscle and valves then they would need to do ultrasounds, echos and EKGs in order to determine whether or not she possessed the malformations described in this disorder. Or to pinpoint where the issue is if they do not find them. They may also want to do MRIs and hopefully you will get answers quickly

If a person has a heart attack at 38, will he die of heart disease at a young age

If a person has a heart attack at 38, will he die of heart disease at a young age?

Heart Diseases - 10 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
No not necessarily. There is the risk. A person in this situation should evaluate why the attack happened. Was it a clot? Then aspirin daily plus fish oil and a healthy diet very well may prevent additional clots. Was it clogged arteries? Then drastic diet change plus exercise needed. Was it a defect of the heart? Then that defect needs to be explored to find out if it can be repaired or treated with diet or perhaps a heart transplant needed.
2 :
possibly, i had a friend die in july of HD, he was 32
3 :
only one person knows that answer...
4 :
not neccessarily but the risk is significantly higher. When suffering from heart attack at such an early stage, there is very likely a significant risk factor involved, like: 1. high cholesterol, 2. smoking, 3. diabetes, 4. high blood pressure, 5. overweight or obesity, 6. extremely low exercise level, or the two of which you cannot influence which are 7. family history of premature heart disease and 8. being male. (the risk factor are in arranged in descending importance). All one can do is limit the risk factors you can do something about, take the meds and you can still be knocked off at zebra crossing at the are of 92. All the best!
5 :
If he does nothing, his chance of another heart attack is high. He is at high risk of not surviving the coming attacks. Even with bypass operation, the arteries will continue to clog up with cholesterol. Likely hi cholesterol. Familial. (hereditary). Or has diabetes mellitus, smokes, overwt.+/-, hi BP, hi sugar, butter, egg yolk diet. Get on vytorin immediately. Get the cholesterol down, esp the LDL. and get HDL up. If it is the good HDL. Vytorin is a combo of statin(blocks cholesterol production in the liver), and zetia, blocks reabsorption of cholesterol from the gut. As well as clearing all the above risks as much as possible. My cholesterol went from 210 to 155 to 108 over 2 1/2 years on zetia and then the combo (with a statin). It may even pull some of the clogging cholesterol out of the arterial walls.
6 :
Eat less animal fat and lose weight.

8 :
If a person sincerely follows his doctor's advice, he/she will usually do well. The patient must also seek psychiatric care if that is necessary. "Anxiety" and "undue stress" play serious roles in causing "heart attacks" as well. This is why I made the suggestion about seeing another kind of doctor. Even if there is a family history of "heart conditions," the appropriate treatment for this condition can often stamp out that "inherited" bad luck. Modern medicines and new methods can change "family histories" to a more "positive" longer living status. I wish you well. Peace, Love and God Bless.
9 :
Not if he takes care of himself...... Diet, exercise etc
10 :
dosnt mean you will if you keep a healthy life style cut out salt and fatty food i wont say stop smoking if you do because i smoke,do excercise regular, have you blood preasure taken regular or buy one from the chemist not expensive mine was £9.99 make sure it dosnt go over 140/80 all the time depending on your age,cut down on stess easier said than done dont worry

Primary cardiac sarcomas encompass a broad spectrum of tumors, such as angiosarcoma, osteosarcoma, fibrosarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma, leiomyosarcoma, myxosarcoma, synovial sarcoma, neurofibrosarcoma, lymphosarcoma, reticulum cell sarcoma, and undifferentiated sarcoma.\ Angiosarcomas have a high mortality rate. Most patients do not survive beyond 6 months from the time of diagnosis of this cardiac tumor. Mortality rates in patients with other malignant cardiac tumors are also high, especially in those with metastases, which tend to involve the heart late in the course of malignant disease. •Benign cardiac tumors can usually be resected and have a good prognosis. Heart valvular heart disease alone can be surgically repaired with excellent results using an artifical caged ball valve and can extend life expectancy. Every case is different and must be evaluated by your physician in order to get some kind of prognosis and even then we often wonder if only higher powers have the capabiity to answer a very difficult question. Good luck.
4 :
Really impossible to say without knowing the details of your sarcoma and valve issue. You should discuss this with your doctor

A while back, Cryptosporidium showed up as a parasite that could kill. It's also an important disease in regards to HIV patients. THe problem was this parasite is resistant to chlorine. Los ANgeles response was to add more chlorine in the water. THe proper choice was to update our water system to add ozone or UV light. BOth was closely to implement and UV was very expensive in the long run. Replacing the light source is costly. Chlorine is very destructive towards cells. This is why we added to the water. It destroys bacteria cells. Unfortunately our cells would be effected to a lesser degree. It's better than having people get cholera, but I like to see ozone being used.

Considering that there is actually no definitive proof that fats cause heart disease and that pollutants are starting to be implicated more and more in heart disease, this is quite possible. The problem is that that the lipid hypothesis has been pushed so hard for so long that no one is prepared to stand up and say they may have been wrong. This also apples to the adding of toxic compounds such as chlorine and fluoride to our drinking supply. Pride and fear of legal action will continue to prevail over finding the truth and people's health

What type of fats are the major causes of heart disease

What type of fats are the major causes of heart disease?

Heart Diseases - 10 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
saturated, trans fats...
2 :
Saturated fats and trans fats
3 :
Saturated fats that come from animals. Red meat, full fat dairy.
4 :
Saturated fats,(found in fatty foods, and processed foods),Trans fats,(these are normally mono saturated fats that have been transformed into saturated fats during a cooking process).Triglycerides are the chemical form that fats exist in in food and in the body.
5 :
1) too much cholesterol (junk food, fried food like french fries, and meat) 2) too much LDL level and low HDL level 3) Smoking 4) Obesity 5) Lack of excersice 6) Diabetes 7) Hypertension 8)thrombosis in the coronary heart 9)family history 10) atherosclerosis
6 :
Definitely NOT saturated fats ! Wow, it's amazing how people have been indoctrinated by the profit mongers and medical people that have bought into the hype created by the pharmaceutical companies that are raping America with promoting ignorance. NO FAT made in nature contains only one fatty acid. All three fatty acids are found together in foods and that includes, Saturated fats, Monounsaturated fats, and Polyunsaturated fats. These are all joined together with one gylcerol molecule. It is the percentage of fatty acids in a food that is important. For anyone to say Saturated Fats cause heart disease, is NOT correct. Saturated fats are what your heart uses as fuel. Saturated fats are very stable fats, unlike the polyunsaturated fats that are very unstable and become rancid (oxidize) very rapidly. In fact, vegetable oils, like soybean oil is very unstable and forms trans fats very rapidly when heated. Coconut oil is a highly saturated fat. It has a high smoke point and does not break down in heat nearly as fast as things like soybean oil, canola, cottonseed, and corn oils. Coconut oil is about 50% Lauric Acid that is anti-bacterial infection fighter and supports good thyroid functions; it also contains 8% Caprylic Acid and 7% Capric Acid, both that are anti-fungal agents. We have Ancel keys, the ego maniac, to blame for the Saturated Fat myth as a result of his "Lipid Hypothesis." Simply bad science. Saturated fats are used in the body for structure and the polyunsaturated fats are used in places where the body needs fast action, like in the brain and eyes. Getting the polyunsaturated fats from bottled oils is very bad. The very best way to get these good oils is from soaking seeds and nuts overnight and then fermenting them for a few hours. Making smoothies out of them is an excellent way to maximize the nutrients and the good fatty acids the body can truly use. What type of fats cause heart disease: CANOLA, SOYBEAN OIL, COTTONSEED OIL, CORN OILS. Trans fats are created by heating oils. Margarines, ALL OF THEM, contain very bad oils. Avoid all dairy that is PASTEURIZED and / or HOMOGENIZED, especially from cows that have been fed GRAINS. These are sick cows and their milk is sick. Homogenization crushes the butter fat cells and makes them into things your body cannot recognize and the body rejects them as toxins. Good saturated fats, like coconut oil and butter (from cows that have been fed grass and free range) are very good for you. You should be eating fats as follows: 60% monounsaturated fats (like those in Olive Oil), 30% saturated (like those in coconut & butter), 10% polyunsaturated fats from seeds and nuts (cultured is best and soaked over night to remove the anti-nutrients found in them). Cholesterol is a form of alcohol, not a fat. It is immiscible in water and fat is not. Blood is made of water and that is why the body uses cholesterol to transport FATTY ACIDS through the blood vessels. People who eat low fat, non fat foods are creating a BAD variety of saturated fat by making their liver a saturated fat factory. It's really time Americans begin to learn what is good and bad from people who know, not from the marketing geniuses that are promoting bad science and the medical people that have no clue what they are talking about regarding nutrition. LDL cholesterol is what takes the fatty acids to sites in the body. It is only pattern 2 LDL that can contribute to plaque build up in the arteries because it is very tiny particles that the HDL cholesterol cannot pick up and take back to the liver for reconjugation. Pattern 1 LDL is the GOOD GUY, NOT BAD. HDL has no problem picking it up and returning it to the liver. Homocystein protein is what makes blood sticky and the arterial walls sticky and bumpy, not cholesterol ! Eating GRAINS, SUGAR, and CORNSTARCH are what cause the bad pattern 2 LDL to be made. Eliminate those from your diet, and your LDL ratio will be very good. You need about 160 LDL of the Pattern 1 cholesterol to be healthy and a reading of about 50 for the HDL. For a man, between 200 and 240 total cholesterol is what is found in people that live long lives and for women, 240 to about 280 total cholesterol is very healthy and found in people living long lives. Drug companies are trying to sell you statin drugs that damage the body in many ways. For one, it causes you to stop making CoQ-Quninol in your liver that is what the heart needs for good health and the statins turn on the gene that causes muscle atrophy. Is it no wonder about 60% of the people taking statins complain about muscle aches? The heart is a muscle, right? I wonder what the statins are doing for the heart muscle? good luck to you EDIT: Thank you "Jane" for your kind comment.

All WRONG answers above, except onlymatch's answer which is very true. Soybean and corn oil have been shown in tightly controlled randomized clinical dietary intervention studies. The " heart healthy" polyunsaturated vegetable oils are the bad ones, so are hydrogenated fats (man made trans fats, not the natural ones) Saturated fat is GOOD for us and MOST stable.
8 :
Serum saturated fatty acid is generally higher in smokers, alcohol drinkers and obese people. Coronary heart disease is usually caused by a condition called atherosclerosis, which occurs when fatty material and a substance called plaque build up on the walls of your arteries.
9 :
Poly unsaturated, trans fats. Saturated fats are the good fats. http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/index.html "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes Pharmacist who's life was almost ruined by Lipitor

How does sugar give you heart disease

How does sugar give you heart disease?

Heart Diseases - 11 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Insluin levels are abnormal making the heart work twice as hard..
2 :
sugar can give u diabeties
3 :
ONE GRAM AT A TIME
4 :
Sugar does not give you heart disease. A bad lifestyle does
5 :
It doesn't. Having Diabetes increases one's risk of cardiovascular disease. Is that what you're talking about? If so, I think it's just that Diabetics have a higher incidence of heart disease - statistics! How? Probably the effect of diabetes on heart, blood vessels, cholesterol, etc.
6 :
By making you fat.
7 :
Well, I don't think it's as direct as all that. But we fatties are mostly fat because we developed an addiction to sugar and sweet foods early in life. And fat is hard on the heart. Also, if you get diabetes from over-working your pancreas, you will increase your risk of all sorts of diseases, just because the control of the diabetes is such an uncertain thing. Anything that stresses you is bad for your heart.
8 :
a lot of research indicate that chronically high blood levels of glucose cause dilated cardiomyopathy by direct toxic effect of sugar on the heart muscle. poor controlled diabetes is associated with small blood vessel disease called (microangiopathy) in which the structure of such vessels(some of which have the duty of supplying food and oxygen to the heart muscle) their structure is damaged making them less able to deliver oxygen and nutrients and making them more susceptible to clogging (atherosclerosis) diabetes especially type 2 is now considered as a part of a spectrum of abnormalities in metabolism associated with middle age known as(metabolic syndrome), diabetes makes more sugar available for storing as fat because this high blood glucose level is not being burned by insulin, this fat is associated with blood clogging(atherosclerosis) which ultimately causes heart attacks . diabetes also effects the kidneys in the long run(also mainly through toxic effect of glucose on structural protiens , and through affecting the small vessels of the kidney) kidney failure leads to increased risk of heart disease.
9 :
As far as I know sugar doed not cause heart disease. You have to consider many factors. The theory of the blood vessels sounds intelligent but the heart is affected by blockages of main arties not the tiny vessels assoc with uncontrolled sugar. However everyone should think of thier heart as the most important organ in thier body and try to controll fat deposits trigltcerides and cholesterol. Moderation can be a cure vs overeating fatty burgers and fried pork everyday. Exercise helps even a liitle each day!!!
10 :
Precipitating factors of coronary thrombosis are as follows:- (1) Sedantary occupation and lack of exercise. (2) Overeating. (3) Cigarette smoking. (4) Mental stress with strain. (5) High serum cholesterol.(>150 to 250 mg/100 ml) Triglycerides.(>150 mg/dL) Low Density Lipoprotein.(>100mg/dL) (6) Familial tendency. (7) Hypertension.(>140/90 mm of Hg) (8) Diabetes.(>126 mg/dL)
11 :
high intake of sugary foods causes you to be obese setting you up for heart disease and obesity. If you are diabetic, having high sugar levels in your blood is the equivalent to sludge running through your veins, clogging them off

It could be signs of anxiety which can cause damage over time. It also could be what you are eating that's causing you pain but before determing any of this , go see a doctor.
2 :
You should use Tramadol, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://mdcan11.notlong.com/7AAalDz
3 :
It’s easy to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack While we are pretty used to watching men, in the typical Bollywood movies, clutching their chests and falling down from what is apparently a heart attack, it needn’t come so obviously. The classic symptoms of a heart attack include a heavy feeling in the chest that may be painful. But the heaviness or pain may spread to the left arm, neck, or jaw. Symptoms include: * Chest pain * Pressure, heaviness or tightness in the chest * Pain or pressure in the neck or jaw * Pain or pressure in one or both arms (especially the left) * Shortness of breath * Sweating * Nausea * Pain or throbbing between the shoulder blades Many people suffer from heart attacks but assume it is only a heartburn or fatigue. When it comes to your heart, it's important to consult a doctor rather than to self diagnose! If you have chest pain wait and see if it goes away If you have a pain in your chest, you definitely must not sit around and wait to see if it goes away. If you're having significant chest discomfort, shortness of breath, or any other symptoms that suggest a heart attack, call a hospital or any clinic’s emergency number. If you delay treatment when you are having a heart attack you could cause irreparable damage to your heart and it could also prove to be fatal. You cannot die simply out of fear or severe emotions panic attacks, terror or any other severe emotion can cause heart attacks It is possible to die of fright, or for that matter grief, anger, joy, or just about any other intense emotion. Though usually victims are older and likely to be in unstable health conditions, even younger people could be so affected. It is possible for a terrifying event to trigger a fatal heart attack. Multiple scientific studies show that important mind and body connections exist for health in general and cardiovascular health in particular. Your levels of stress and wellbeing are extremely important for your cardiovascular health. Higher stress levels or negative emotions like anger or depression could burden your heart pumping due to release of certain hormones in our blood stream like adrenalin. You should therefore look for ways and means to reduce stress and negative emotions in your lives. If you are young you will have no heart problems people as young as 20 can have heart attacksThough predominantly those who are older are more prone to having a heart attack, it is possible to start developing coronary artery disease as a teenager. People in their 20s and 30s have suffered from heart attacks. A heart-healthy lifestyle needs to begin in the childhood, so that kids don't develop bad habits that they carry to adulthood. Parents should encourage their kids to exercise, limit time spent in front of the television or computer screen, and partake healthy, well-balanced meals. Children, who are obese, have high blood pressure or a family history of heart disease are at a higher risk. Also, although rare, some children (usually due to genetic differences) can have unusually high cholesterol and thus an increased risk for heart disease. Another problem today is the kind of lifestyle that we live. Especially the young working population today lives an unbalanced life with no exercise, a lot of junk food and high stress levels. Not to mention overexposure to technology implements that is proving to harm our lives. For this populatonis it especially necessary to have regular checkups and a conscious effort to maintain a well balanced life. for more information do read:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/answer?qid=20100924132247AAalDzO

I have to do a school project on heart disease what kind of facts should I put in it?

Heart Diseases - 13 Answers

1 :
Facts about heart disease, of course. Wikipedia has lots of good information. Get to it...
2 :
Chuck Norris can rip a human's heart out with his bare hands, while its still pumping blood!
3 :
i would definitely include some facts about heart disease. maybe like how many people have it, what causes it, how many people die from it each year/month/week/day/hour, you know, the basics!
4 :
The epidemiology, who it affects, symptoms, long term effects, procedures known to imporve the condition, medications known to improve the condition, things an individual can do to prevent the problem or slow the onset of the problem.
5 :
I would start out with causes. Then statistics. And then prevention.
6 :
Who is more at risk and why. What tests are done to prove heart disease in patients What kinds of diseases affect the heart and what they can cause What can be done to help people with heart disease Maybe at the end throw in some new things that science is working on that isnt quite done yet to show the route we are taking in medicine
7 :
ummmmm....the facts that you glean from studying heart disease i should think.
8 :
Without knowing specifics, (such as what grade level or class this is for, science vs. health class), I'd say include: what is it what causes it risk factors how many people have it what patients can do current advances in medicine
9 :
Depends on which level you are working at. A web site I like that has alot of info is 'heartsite.com' General info that might give you ideas on your project. Good luck. Maybe you could even arrange an interview with a doc or practiontioner in a cardiology dept or office.!
10 :
"The FACT that coronary atherosclerosis gets worse JUST AS FAST or FASTER when cholesterol goes DOWN as when it goes up the OPPOSITE of exposure response should have led scientists to question the whole Lipid Hypothesis - but no one did" - Dr. Uffe Ravnskov
11 :
show first the body system affected, causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis or detection method, then treatment or cure... you can add the history of the disease, statistics, and the function of the system affected(which is the circulatory system) for extra credits...
12 :
wikipedia is good
13 :
These are the things you should put in your report: INTRODUCTION: (A brief intro about your report) Background Pathophysiology Etiology Epidemiology (Frequency, Mortality/Morbidity, Age, Sex, Race) HISTORY Signs and Symptoms Past medical history Physical findings Causes DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSES (different disease that could mimic your topic) WORKUP STUDIES (Supporting studies that could help diagnose your topic) Laboratory Studies Imaging Studies Other Test Procedure TREATMENT Pretreatment Peri treatment Post treatment MEDICATIONS FOLLOWUP That should do it. If you are going to search the net, try to look for articles on eMedicine and you will know what I'm talking about. Their report is very comprehensive

Can exercise prevent heart disease

Can exercise prevent heart disease ?
Hi , can yog , pranayama and morning walk prevent heart disease ? Warm regards K Banerjee

1 :
yes, but must combine with low cholesterol & high fiber diet.
2 :
I'm not a doctor but i can say that exercise never hurt no one, but if you're told by the doctor that you shouldn't then u shouldn't. many heart diseases caused by fat that prevent blood from rushing through the veins.. you can lose these fat by burning it with exercise ... everyday would be the best but no one does though
3 :
yes,you are correct
4 :
though it might help some people, nothing is certain. I was a golden glove boxer and still inherited it from my dad and grandpa!!
5 :
Traditionally, we think of excercise as healthy because it brings down cholesterol, makes you loos weight, etc. Cutting edge cardiovascular research is discovering that even more is going on. See, most heart disease occurs when endothelium (the inner layer of coronary arteries) gets dysfunctional. It gets that way with high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, etc. But it has been shown that excercise makes the endothelium much more resistant to these changes. So yes, it helps. Useful tip about excercise. It does not need to be structured. Wwalking the steps at work can be as helpful as buying a home gym. The point is to have at least 30 minutes of excercise a day on most days. The excercise should not make you go out of breath completely, but should provide you with exertion. One way to gauge if you are doing enough is your heart rate. It should get 50% of your normal heart rate for at least those 30 minutes. Another is to pay attention to your breathing. You should not be out of breath enough so you can't talk, but you should not be able to sing. The 30 minute of excercise coud be staggered in three 10-minute intervals. DOing more than thirty minutes helps, upto a point. Studies shown that doing more than an hour a day has shown no additional benefit. Hope that helps!

I don't know about prevent, BUT it can help you in the fight against it

Is McDonald's food designed to make you obese and cause heart disease

Is McDonald's food designed to make you obese and cause heart disease?
Every time I go into their restaurants I see several people that weigh 380lbs... Gross...
Fast Food - 11 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Anything is fine in moderation but it is not designed to be eaten every day as one meal has the fat and calories you would require for one day. If you ate it all the time you would certainly put on weight and extra weight means more fat around the heart which puts strain on the heart and can cause heart troubles. So eat in moderation - everything is good in small amounts!
2 :
I doubt it is "designed" that way. McDonald's wants you to stay alive and keep eating their product so they can keep making Money.
3 :
Why would they murder their best customers? Unless they're owned by insurance companies, then... HOLY CRAP, I'M NEVER EATING THERE AGAIN
4 :
the food is designed to be both tasty and quick to serve. Fat in food is what makes it taste so good. If you do not like the scenery,go to Arby's and eat roast beef, get a salad with grilled chicken- If you do not like the view, change the channel, duh.
5 :
if you eat it everyday. but really if you eat it, lets say once a week. not really. but if your daily routine is exercising.
6 :
its fast foood restraunt you act like theres not gonna be fat people around there
7 :
its a fat food place
8 :
McDonald's is super unhealthy I used to go there every week and I felt horrible when I was done eating but I was addicted to it so I couldn't stop. Then I got food poisoning so I never went there again. Also did you know bacteria wont even eat those crap meals. I posted a video that explains it. ps: I was around 10 when I couldn't stop eating McDonald's and I was not at all fat so McDonald's just to makes you sick and give you diseases unless you eat it around 3 times a week then you will get fat.
9 :
If you eat it 3 times a day 7 days a week, then yeah it will make you obese. Those people that you see that you classed as "gross", are eating there at least 2 or 3 times a day. Ever watched "Super Size Me"?
10 :
No its designed to be appealing to the everyday American.
11 :
McDonald's food is designed to be what your body wants. Your body is designed to chunk it up when you eat too damn much of what it wants versus what it needs. Sweet Jesus

I don't know anything about the condition, but common sense does tell me that people born with enormailities are more expensive to take care of than "normal" kids. medicines, procedures, doctors visits. itll alll add up.
2 :
congenital heart diseases CHD as commonly known as can be of two types, one curable another noncurable. incase of a curable ones where there are chances of survival then the cost can be controlled. but non curable where chances are less could mean u lose ur money and moreover ur child. depending on the from of CHD the basic treatments could cost no less than 1-2 laks indian currency apart from hospital and visitation and test charges. there are schemes various hosp provide that can reduce the cost.
3 :
Its tough, things are usually pretty tight. Because of surgeries, medicines, hosptial stays, doctor visits, diagnostic procedures ect. when i go to the cardiologist and get a chest xray, EKG and an ECHO it costs 6000 dollars, my stress test cost close to a 1000, my pulmonologist visit and all the tests cost close to 2000 dollars. A child with CHD will need a cardiologist, some need pulmonologist and some need even more doctors along with the normal GP doctor or pediatrician doctor. Surgeries will cost thousands and thousands of dollars(around 180,000 or 200,000 but surgeries prices differ) Meds can be a couple of hundred to thousands of dollars Hospital visits can be thousands of dollar Having CHD can be Very expensive, and sometimes insurance doesnt cover all the care we need. And these are life long costs, there is NO CURE for congenital heart disease, well some may not need treatment most do. The only treatment is in a form of surgeries, meds and sometimes heart transplants but there is no cure

Why do Americans die more frequently of heart disease than Europeans

Why do Americans die more frequently of heart disease than Europeans?
And don't Europeans smoke and drink more than Americans? Don't Europeans out live Americans? I don't get it.
Other - Health - 9 Answers

1 :
Fattier foods. The smoking and drinking doesn't do as much as eating unhealthily with no exception as americans do.
2 :
americans of the norm are overweight a lot more this is hard on the heart.
3 :
Americans have a little problem called OBESITY! We are a bunch of fat-a**es.
4 :
It's our diet...more fatty foods; less vegetables/ fruits. Europeans probably walk more than many Americans, also.
5 :
I feel its because we are always rushing around trying to find shortcuts and what not. In Europe they take dinning very seriously. They take the time to enjoy what thay are eating in turn care about what goes in them. Not to mention they are very active. Eating to them is pleasurable were is in america it just like puttin your shoes on.
6 :
Americas die faster than Europeans what!!!!!!! that's easy Amer cans eat to many junk food. look at the world record book. duh
7 :
.BECAUSE OF OUR DIET
8 :
because americans eat crap, in europe there is rarely a huge breakfest or meals based around grain and finely processed food. they eat meat, cheese, whole milk and hardy but less processed. they also eat smaller meals in general. as soon as my parents moved here from europe they both become overweight and unhealthy. its said and they finally realized it.
9 :
It's because of diet, It's a major thing that is different to a European lifestyle. But I think the countries with the most deaths from Heart disease are the Eastern European countries such as Ukraine and Bulgaria. I believe this is mainly due to the amount of heaving smoking that goes on in these countries

What tests rule out heart disease

What tests rule out heart disease?
What tests are done to rule out heart disese? Whats the difference between heart disese and heart disorders?
Heart Diseases - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Usually a blood test. Heart disease is gradual deterioration of the heart muscles or blocking of the arteries. A heart disorder can be any mild problem such as irregular heartbeat.
2 :
There is not a specific test but there are several: Cholesterol panel: measures your total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol), triglycerides, and HDL:LDL ratio EKG (electrocardiogram): screens for any electrical abnoramalities, damage to heart muscle, abnormal rhythms. ECHOCARDIOGRAM: a sonogram of your heart and how well it pumps. Also looks at how the heart valves are functioning, estimates pressures in different areas of the heart and overall heart function. STRESS TEST: either done by exercising (i.e. on a treadmill) or by stressing the heart with certain drugs. Assesses overall heart function and screens for any ischemia (decrease in blood flow to the heart muscle). A nuclear component can be added which will give a "picture" of the blood supply to the heart and how well it is functioning. Angiogram/Cardiac catheterization: an invasive procedure that determines is there is blockage in the blood flow to the heart and can also measure certain pressues in the heart, valve function and overall heart function---THIS IS NOT A SCREENING TEST, BUT DONE IF THERE IS HIGH SUSPICION!!! For starters, get a cholesterol panel, EKG and an echocardiogram and take it from there!! Hope this helps!!
3 :
to rule out heart disease, the dr. will draw blood to check to see if u have arteriosclerosis. this is to see if ur arterys are stoping up with plack. he will take a family history. he taks a stress test on a treadmill, also a e.k.g. that is a tracing of ur heart. he may also have u wear a heart moniter fo appx. 24 hrs. then he will give u the results. heart disorders are, things like enlarge heart, valve problems, etc. i hope this answers ur question. god bless
4 :
A stress test is actually given to a patient who may have some mild contraindications of an MI. It can rule it out as well along with EKG.
5 :
Tests done: Most basic is blood pressure and oxygen saturation, then Lab work: clotting times, PT, PTT, cholesterol, triglycerides, potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, hemoglobin, hematocrit, cpks which tell if there is muscle damage. Then there is EKG, Cardiac Stress Test, Echo cardiogram. They do a heart catherization. These don't cover everything, but most of the basics.....A disorder is a problem of birth or injury that causes the heart to operate improperly....The disorder can be caused by disease of the heart. I hope this helps you......Just type cardiac testing into your search engine and you will get a lot of sites to look through and research.....
6 :
i'm not sure what the difference is, but please, please keep up with all doctor appointments. see i'm 36 and i was born with my heart problems and at 27 i all ready had my first heart surg. and now at 36 , i'm now what they call sudden death. and i will have too have a heart transplant
