i've taken them both and both have showed the same results. i have heart disease and have had a heart attack. i think the nuclear stress test is best. they put an IV in your arm and inject nuclear liquid and can trace how your heart is functioning. it's expensive but my health insurance covers it

I am not a medical doctor, but my experience tells me that Murzy is correct. A Tread Mill stress test is less expensive and is given if the person is believed capable of withstanding the stress of a treadmill and is capable of doing it. A nuclear stress test, according to those I have known who have taken it, is also stressful and informative, but does not require physical exertion. How effective these tests are, however, might depend on where the blockage is and if there is a blockage of any sort. Usually they are pretty accurate. Good luck!

Having had both of them I understand that 2 D echo test is somewhat more accurate, because it is not dependent on an individuals performance, so there would be less variance. In addition I found that the exercise got to be very tiring and unpleasant. The major advantage of the Tread mill test is that it's cheaper but much more uncomfortable. Those who are able and willing to withstand the rig ours of the TMT would be the best candidates. Those who ar more at risk, and unwilling should take the 2D Echo. In these cases it is also very important to respect the patients; wishes. In summary all things being equal both tests are capable of discovering blockages if they exist Hope this helps
