Does anyone know what diabetes medication has been recently linked to heart disease

Does anyone know what diabetes medication has been recently linked to heart disease?
Is there any link between the heart disease and glucophage?
Diabetes - 9 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
they think avandia can cause heart disease. but they are not positive yet
2 :
Avandia. It's also in Avandryl (a combination of Avandia and Amaryl) and Avandamet (a combination of Avandia and metformin.
3 :
avandia for type 2 diabetes...it has been links to an increased risk of heart attack and heart related deaths. the FDA has issued a "safety alert" but NOT a recall.. talk to your doctor if you are taking this medication especially if you already have heart problems.
4 :
Avandia and possibly Avandiamet I would not recommend Glucophage to give my dog ..That drug has caused people to loose their limbs , I am a diabetic on insulin!! Glad to be , them pills are no good!
5 :
Troglitazone (Rezulin) associated with liver failure and heart disease. Avandia is associated with myocardical infarction and sudden death. Glucophage is okay, so far. Nothing's conclusive at this time. Personally, I agree with the PharmD.
6 :
Avandia is the main one. Avandamet is another name for Avandia. they are also looking into Actos to see if there is a link because it works in a similar way to Avandia (but there is no evidence YET that Actos causes any heart problems at this time).
7 :
Avandia (rosiglitazone). However- it is a drug that treats type 2 diabetes, which is generally caused by being overweight, sedentary and commonly part of a condition called metabolic syndrome (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity). So what are the risk factors for heart disease? Overweight, high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), hypertension, diabetes. SO- are we going to blame the drug for the disorder, or are we going to blame the fact that people would rather take a drug to control a condition than drop 50 pounds by eating right, exercising daily and living a more healthy lifestyle? Type 2 diabetes can be reversed- up to a point. Once the beta cells die off, there is no reversal. The type of study quoted backing this statistic is a meta-analysis: not as strong a study as a random controlled clinical trial. The evidence is not entirely conclusive.
8 :
I think it was Avandamet (has two drugs in it...rosiglitazone maleate and metformin HCl ).
9 :
I am not really sure of this but a few of my friends were tired of taking harmful medication so they started to try suppliments. Believe it or not they found one that worked better then anything the doctor prescribed. You can get a free trial of it here http://www.optimumdiabetics.com/?aid=325796

When Will Cardiologists DROP The Cholesterol NONSENSE And Get To The REAL Causes Of Coronary Heart Disease

When Will Cardiologists DROP The Cholesterol NONSENSE And Get To The REAL Causes Of Coronary Heart Disease?
When?
Heart Diseases - 12 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
the "real" cause is a very big business- and when research studies are funded by "big business" doctors are told what to think.
2 :
When statin making drug companies stop paying them.
3 :
they don't want to scare people with the real reasons like blocked arteries and heredateries;and all of the main causes.they always say cholesterol because they run out of things to say'so they throw that in there...by now with all the technology' you'd think they would almost come up with some kinds of pills or shots to make it where so many don't have to die daily 'weekly and all other times,,,,,LOL
4 :
And the real causes ARE?? We're waiting.....
5 :
They would never , because the real culprit is badly imbalanced cholesterol only. The devil does not run away if you just shut your eyes !
6 :
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7 :
ANTHONY COLPO IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. In the AFCAPS/TexCAPS trial, lovastatin reduced CHD mortality by a staistically insignificant twenty-seven percent. BUT overall mortality was increased by four percent. 3304 were in the drug group and 3301 in the treatment group. 11 CHD deaths drug group 15 CHD deaths control group. realtive Risk for CHD Mortality -27% Realtive risk for total mortality +3.9% total deaths 80 drug group 77 control group STATINS DO NOT INCREASE SURVIVAL RATE IN WOMEN AT ALL STATINS DO NOT INCREASE SURVIVAL RATE IN ELDERLY AT ALL STATINS DO NOT INCREASE SURVIVAL RATE IN MEN FREE OF EXISTING CORONARY HEART DISEASE. ANY ACTION STATINS HAVE IN SELECT PATIENTS WITH CORONARY HERAT DISEASE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR LDL REDUCTION. AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THEIR INFLAMATION REDUCTION, ANTI CLOTTING ,ANTI SPASM PROPERTIES. PERHAPS YOU did not read this carefully enough. http://www.lowcarbmuscle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=162 RESEARCHERS ADSMITTED AFTER EXAMINING ALL THE EVIDENCE THAT LDL REDUCTION IS UNFOUNDED. YOU WOULD GET DESTROYED BY COLPO IN ANY TYPE OF CONVERSATION ABOUT THE FACTS ON CHOLESTEROL.
8 :
If cholesterol isn't the "real" cause, what is? Cholesterol is a big part of what causes Coronary Artery Disease. No, it isn't all of it. Some other causes are cigarettes, diabetes, high blood pressure and genetics. Which one should we focus on?
9 :
The ABSURDITY OF the Cholesterol Theory Using data from Cholesterol Theory proponents we would have to believe: *Cholesterol causes coronary heart disease in men BUT NOT WOMEN *Cholesterol causes coronary herat disease in Americans BUT NOT Canadiand and PROTECTS aginst coronary heart disease in RUSSIANS *Cholesterol causes coronary heart disease if you are between the ages 31 and 47 BUT STOPS CAUSING CORONARY HEART DISEASE ONCE YOU TURN 48 AS FAR AS THE STATIN CLINICAL TRIALS the ones that COUNT CLINICAL NOT observational, READ THIS FROM THE BRILLIANT DR. UFFE RAVNSKOV, Anthony Colpo's MENTOR Summing up "In their reports, the directors of these trials cited LDL cholesterol as an important risk factor in coronary heart disease. But what these trials actually provide , in spite of the glowing reports they received in the press, is strong evidence that cholesterol levels do not matter. First, the statins were almost as effective for women as they were for men. Indeed, in the the CARE trial the effect was most pronounceds for the female sex although almost all studies have shown that high cholesterol is not a risk factor for women. Second, the elderly were protected just as much as younger individuals. although all studies have shown that high cholesterol is only a weak risk factor , if any at all. for men older than fifty. Third, the number of strokes was reduced after statin treatment , although all studies have shown that high cholesterol is a weak risk factor for stroke if at all. Fourth, patients who has suffered a heart attack were protected even though most studies have shown that high cholesterol is a weak risk factor , if any at all , for those who have already had a heart attack." As far as the Furthermore, THE STATINS PROTECTED AGAINST CORONARY HEART DISEASE WHETHER THE PATIENTS CHOLESTEROL WAS HIGH OR LOW, even though most studies have shown that normal or low cholesterol is not a risk factor for coronary disease. MOST IMPORTANT- THERE WAS NO ASSOCIATION BETWEEN THE DEGREE OF CHOLESTEROL LOWERING AND THE OUTCOME. THE RISK OF HAVING A HEART ATTACK WAS REDUCED BY THE SAME DEGREE WHETHER THE CHOLESTEROL LEVEL WAS LOWERED BY A LARGE AMOUNT OR SMALL AMOUNT. As far as the AFCAPS/TexCAPS trial, which included healthy individuals with normal cholesterol levels, the chance of NOT dying from a heart attack over four to six years for a patient with CHD and high cholesterol is about 92 percent without treatment, and increases to 95 percent with statin treatment. HARDLY IMPRESSIVE. DRUG COMPANIES AND DOCTORS ALWAYS LOOK AT AND CITE "RELATIVE RISK REDUCTION" . DRUG COMPANIES USE "RELATIVE RISK REDUCTION" FOR THEIR ADS Take a look at ABSOLUTE RISK REDUCTION AND YOU WILL FIND that death from a heart attack was prevented in only a SMALL PERCENTAGE OF TREATED INDIVIDUALS. These figures are highest in the trials that included patients WITH CHD whereas it was aTRIVIAL 0.12 percent in the AFCAPS/TexCAPS trial. *STATINS DO NOT HELP THE ELDERLY OR WOMEN AT ALL.-even when they have coronary heart disease. *STATINS ONLY HELP MIDDLE AGED MEN WITH EXISTING CORONARY HEART DISEASE AND DIABETICS. *ANY BENEFICIAL EFFECTS SEEN IN THIS SMALL PERCENTAGE OF SELECT INDIVIDUALS IS INDEPENDENT OF LDL LOWERING. THE RESERACHERS CAME OUT AND ADMITTED THIS IN OCT 2006 http://www.lowcarbmuscle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=162 YOU HAVE BEEN DISMANTLED FOOL.
10 :
You STUPID STUPID nurse Atherosclerotic plaques are NOT wads of cholesterol FOOL They are VERY VERY HARD FIBEROUS SCAR TISSUE MAINLY 90 PERCENT. Cholesterol ONLY makes up 6-10% FOOL ATHEROSCLEROTIC PLAQUES ARE MAINLY FIBEROUS SCAR TISSUE SMOOTH MUSCLE CELLS RESEMBLES A SCAB SEE HERE FIRST HAND FOOL http://www.youtube.com type in KIRKSEY The media's AND DRUG COMPANIES representation of human atherosclerosis is COMPLETELY ERRONEOUS. ANTHONY COLPO'S KNOWLEDGE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO YOU
11 :
To answer your question, hopefully never. It's amazing how a few people (or maybe just one with different id's) think that 90% of the worlds' doctors are wrong. When someone argues against the "anti-cholesterol" lobby, they're met with curses and insults. (which gets you violated) If you truly want to change peoples' minds, that doesn't work. Reasoned discussions do much more than calling people stupid or putrid #$#~.

Rheumatic heart disease will not go away. It occured because you had strep throat that was not treated with antibiotics. This can cause rheumatic fever a few weeks later that can damage the heart and or kidneys. Try seeking the help of a nutritionist to design the best diet for your condition. Also talk to your doctor about the implications of the damage that was caused so you can see if anything can be treated. Good luck.
3 :
Take aurvedic capsule Rudved. It will increase the blood flow of your body and you will be free from your complaints.
4 :
Rheumatic Heart Disease is treatable but not curable. You should go on a low fat, low cholesterol, low sodium cardiac diet, get some help to lose wait, do moderate exercise daily and stop smoking if you do.And get regular check-ups. Good health and good luck

Is high cholesterol, and/or high blood pressure, the only things to cause heart disease

Is high cholesterol, and/or high blood pressure, the only things to cause heart disease?

Heart Diseases - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
no
2 :
no it kinda gets passed on. genetics
3 :
Many things can, like genetics, heart murmur, anemia or iron deficiency, bad diet or even cancer.
4 :
High cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease. This is old info. Different things can cause high blood pressure. There are many causes of heart disease. You can google and get a lot of info.on these subjects.
5 :
high cholesterol level causes thickening of arteries atherosclerosis so blood pressure increases it leads to heart disease.
6 :
that may be due to heart attack
7 :
The main cause of heart attack is inflammation .high cholesterol is a symptom not the cause .Omega3 found in fish oil walnuts and flax seed oil are high in... can help prevent inflammation . Omega6 oils and dehydrogenated oil increase the chance for heart disease. As little as 3% of your daily fat is dehydrogenated fats can increase your chance of heart attack by 60%
8 :
No there are other things that lead to heart disease. First of all, there are many types of heart disease. Heart disease can be related to blockages in the arteries that supply the heart (coronary artery disease (CAD)/ischemic heart disease), abnormal heart rhythms, structural abnormalities of the heart (leaky heart valves, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, etc.) and many others. Blockages in the arteries that supply the heart (CAD) leading to heart attacks are the most common type of heart disease. Risk factors for coronary artery disease include advanced age, family history, obesity, diabetes, smoking, high LDL "bad" cholesterol, low HDL "good" cholesterol and high blood pressure. As you can see there are many other causes or risk factors for heart disease. Also the other types of heart conditions are related to different factors

What kind of a HEART DISEASE? That cannot make you BREATH PROPERLY.?
ANd when It hurts you cannot breath and also it is really painful? Or can It be a cause of NOT EATING ON DIRECT TIME? That can cause such a big problem.
Heart Diseases - 2 Answers

1 :
The human heart has two circuits. One pumps blood into the whole body except the lungs. The other pumps blood just into the lungs. If there is weakness in the circuit that supplies the body, then the heart pumps harder to compensate and then the lungs get over pressurized with too much blood. That is called pulmonary hypertension. The lungs then tend to get filled with fluid and breathing is impaired. There are other heart diseases that affect breathing, but pulmonary hypertension is the most direct problem the heart can cause.
2 :
This sounds like Precordial Catch Syndrome. And its not dangerous if its PCS. If you are still worried, do look for a doctor! However, stay optimistic and don't be too stress!!! Cheers!!

Is adult Heart Disease truly a preventable condition? How do you prevent it

Is adult Heart Disease truly a preventable condition? How do you prevent it?

Heart Diseases - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Not entirely. The only thing you can do is lower your risk by eliminating the risk factors that are within your control. A few things: quit smoking (or don't start) eat a proper diet maintain a healthy weight exercise regularly drink in moderation monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol manage your stress level
2 :
Most adults suffer from coronary artery disease (CAD) due to sedentary life style and diseases like diabetes and hypertension. Prevention of CAD involves modifying atherosclerosis risk factors smoking cessation, weight loss, a healthful diet, regular exercise, modification of serum lipids, and control of hypertension and diabetes. Antihypertensives should be used to achieve a goal blood pressure of < 130/80 mm Hg. Modification of serum lipids (particularly with statins) may slow or even partially reverse the progression of CAD. LDL targets are < 100 mg/dL (< 2.59 mmol/L) for those with known CAD or 70 to 80 mg/dL (1.81 to 2.07 mmol/L) for those with a history of ischemic event. Nicotinic acid or a fibrate should be added for those with an HDL < 40 mg/dL (< 1.03 mmol/L).
3 :
Eat fish, bread, drink little red wine, walking and fasting sometime. That's what I remember from the bible.
4 :
The risk factors for Heart Disease are: Blood Pressure Diabetes Smoking High Cholesterol Obesity Genetics The ones you can control are: Obesity, which will affect Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol Smoking. You cannot control Genetics, which can also affect Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Cholesterol. In other words, eat healthy and exercise. This will help you control what you can and deal with what you can't control

Add to that kidney failure as well----I frequently read my patients medical histories when I worked as a hemodialysis nurse and found a large number of our black patients had a history of alcohol and or substance abuse.-----this of course is not a scientific study as I only worked in that area for about 8 months before moving to intensive care

Aspirin? What is the recommended preventative dose for stroke and heart disease for a middle-aged man

Aspirin? What is the recommended preventative dose for stroke and heart disease for a middle-aged man?

Heart Diseases - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
either two baby aspirins, or three quarters of a bayer, I think they have one that is called low dose, daily aspirin, check it out, I believe it must be at or about 80mgs,,, dont take my word for it, but I really do believe i saw the type just for daily preventative dosage...
2 :
A doctor may recommend different amounts based on your specific risk factors, but most doses range from 81mg (one baby aspirin) to 325mg (one adult aspirin). Your doctor can give you a better idea of what dose would be appropriate for your specific situation.
3 :
80mg per day
4 :
I think it is inappropriate to ask these questions. You life is at risk and You should be visiting a doctor. Yahoo friends may give you an answer in good faith - but, if it does not work, you are in trouble
5 :
Low dose ASA 81 mg
6 :
I can answer that question for you as a physician. The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association just updated the recommendations THIS YEAR. For the purposes of preventing a stroke or heart attack, the recommended dose of aspirin is between 75 and 162 mg/day, down from the previous guide of 75 to 325 mg/day. (A baby aspirin contains 81 mg and an adult aspirin contains 325 mg, so the recommendation calls for 1 to 2 baby aspirin a day.) This change is because all of our research suggests that the lower dose of aspirin is AS EFFECTIVE in reducing strokes and heart attacks as the higher dose and is LESS LIKELY to lead to serious bleeding. Having said that, you should consult your physician before starting any medications such as aspirin. For people with a history of ulcers or bleeding, aspirin may not be recommended OR may need to be started in conjunction with another medication to prevent bad side effects.

Hey why don't you check out this website - I found it very useful - http://ailments.in/strokeprevention.html..

How do foods high in fat/sugar/sodium cause heart disease, diabetes, etc

How do foods high in fat/sugar/sodium cause heart disease, diabetes, etc?

Diabetes - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Lipids deposit onto the inside of your arteries, restricting blood flow.
2 :
The fat and sodium cause an increase in blood pressure which causes your heart to work harder which leads to heart disease. If this is for school or something you may want to google search for the anatomy and physiology of these conditions
3 :
they put on the weight.
4 :
diabetes can easily be caused by weight gain, fats and sugars, and then heart disease is caused by the heart over working to pump blood though the body, which can easily happen by eating lots of salts, fats and sugars

What physicians help to diagnose, treat and correct congenital heart defects or congenital heart disease

What physicians help to diagnose, treat and correct congenital heart defects or congenital heart disease?

1 :
A cardiologist. There are different types of cardiologists, there are those that deal with the structure of the heart and those that deal with the electrical impulses that "power" the heart but any doctor dealing with something having to do with the heart is a cardiologist.
2 :
A pediatric cardiologist and / or a pediatric cardio-thoracic surgeon. The field of pediatric cardiology was essentially created by Helen Taussig of Johns Hopkins. Dr. Taussig was partially deaf due to a childhood infection. She therefore went to McGilll in Canada as they had the largest store of pathological specimens of congential heart lesions. She returned to Baltimore with the idea that congenital heart lesions were a matter of faulty 'plumbing'. Dr. Taussig approached Hopkins surgeon Alfred Blalock with the notion that Tetrology of Fallot or so-called blue baby syndrome could be surgically repaired. In the 1940s heart surgery on adults was a novelty and there had been no attempt at performing surgery on the heart of a child. Dr. Blalock suggested that Dr. Taussig work with laboratory assistant Vivien Thomas. Dr. Taussig and Mr. Thomas experimented on animals for many months. These 2 then convinced Dr. Blalock to attempt such a surgical procedure the likes of which had quite literally never been done before. On November 29, 1944 with Denton Cooley as an Intern and surgical assistant Taussig and Thomas told Dr. Blalock step by painful step what to connect where. The Blalock-Taussig shunt worked! and this surgical procedure made the front page of every newspaper in the world within 24 hours. Thus not only did Dr. Taussig create pediatric cardioglogy she is largely responsible for the field of pediatric cardio-thoracic surgeons that was to follow. I had the honor of meeting Dr. Taussig and Dr. Cooley in Houston decades ago. I have been in the building at Hopkins named for Dr. Blalock but I never had the pleasure of his acquaintance. If I may be of further assistance please let me know. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless. JR

with the obesity problem in the states yes i do..more kids are now found to have diabetes earlier then ever before..people need to teach their kids how to eat halthy or they are condeming them to die
2 :
Firstly, neither disease is an epidemic...communicable to others. Of the two disease entities, Heart disease is more of a concern as it is more difficult to manage. Diabetes on the other hand is becoming more manageable virtually daily with both injectable and oral medications. The pancreas produces insulin( the cause of diabetes is an imbalance in the amount of insulin produced) but has no direct relation to cardic pathology. Heart Disease has many forms and can range from poor cardiac output to a myocardial infarction so the term is vague. Most patients with diabetes mellitus can have a fairly normal life span, but a cardiac disease can have ominous overtones.
3 :
Diabetes is the third leading cause of death in America today.
4 :
^ Yes, diabetes seems to be on the rise, it seems more adults and children are getting diabetes, especially type 2. There was a time when type 2 was seen in adults and if children had diabetes they most likely had type 1, unfortunately way to many children now have type 2 and some people have type 3 which is a combination of 1 and 2, I read an article about type 3 about a year ago, sorry I don't remember which medical publication I saw it in. There can be so many compilations when you have diabetes, heart disease is only one of them

In women, does a lot of body fat around the hips increase or decrease the risk of heart disease

2 :
decrease. Body fat around the abdomen (being apple-shaped) increases your risk of heart disease. Being pear-chaped is safer than apple-shaped
3 :
That's the wrong direction to look. Total body fat is what suggests one may or may not be susceptible to developing hear disease. Your teacher should, with all due respect, do a bit more research. It ain't the location of the fat that's the indicator we're talking about. Total body fat is also a very incomplete means of determining a person's cardio risks. Age, heredity, level of exercise, the composition of one's daily diet, whether or not one smokes or is exposed to tobacco smoke second-hand - all these are equally important in making that determination, which is why doctors and other health professionals seem to bug you about every aspect of your life. You gotta take good care of you, is what we're telling you! There are ten major factors that determine your risk of developing heart disease, but you can do something about only three of them. Fortunately, those three are the top three factors in heart disease! One, keep your weight under control. Two, don't use tobacco products. Three, devise and stick to a personal exercise program. Oh yeah - and choose the right parents! ...just kidding! Heredity does play a significant role, but yer sorta stuck with the genes y'got!
4 :
It won't decrease your risk but it won't increase it either (unless we're talking about a whole bunch of fat). It's the fat around the waist you've got to look out for, because it builds up around the vital organs

The deficiency of B6, b12 and Folic acid raises a dangerous amino acid known as homocysteine. Coenzyme Q10 deficiency can cause high blood pressure, the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, and an inefficient or weak heart muscle. The deficiency of vitamin E (not just d-alpha, but gamma tocopherol and the tocotrienols) is a major contributing factor for the risk of stroke and heart attack.
2 :
Vitamin B1 is needed for cardiac health.Deficiency causes Beri beri in which heart fails. B12 deficiency causes anemia which if severe and if associated with Iron deficiency causes cardiac dilatation and failure

No matter how good you describe it here, people can only guess, and obviously that doesn't sound normal, I have this random thing where i can breathe in and all of a sudden it feels like someone is squeezing my heart and i have to take these tiny breathes for about a minute otherwise it's horrible pain, so i went to the doctor and did three tests and she said it was all fine, but thats still not normal and i still want to know what it is i get, what happens, and what causes it, but atleast it feels good knowing it's not a disease or anything serious...go to the doctor for a check up and hopefully they will put your mind at ease

24.How does niacin reduce the risk for heart disease and at what dose

24.How does niacin reduce the risk for heart disease and at what dose?

They say it lowers cholesterol. But when you take it you get "flushed" and it feels like you're on fire. It probably works like drano in your blood.
2 :
Please tell us where you will practice. I know I don't want anyone who can't learn basic material treating me.
3 :
It lowers cholesterol. I got this advice from a pharmacist and it worked for me, though i can't quite remember how much I took. I recommend that you just call a pharmacy and they will tell you for free. They tend to know how things will affect you better than Mds, as far as side effects. I had adoctor that was a Md and a pharmacist and he did not recommend the niacin he wanted to put me on Lipitor. I happened to go to the pharmacist to get a recommendation and that's when i was told about it. after taking it for a couple months religiously my cholesterol dropped significantly. My doctor told me that I could not get it down like Lipitor could, but I proved him wrong and did not have to worry about the bad side effects of lipitor. Well..I have a new doctor. It does help the heart because of the lowering of cholesterol, but there are side effects with taking too much of anything and so I recommend you go to a pharmacy and ask them. Tell them of any other medicines or supplements you are taking and always consult a doctor. I hope you have an open minded doctor.

By lowing the c-reactive protein and interleukin 6 levels that increase the inflammation in the blood vessels of the heart. the flushing may be eliminated by always taking it with a full meal. 500 mg to1000 mg
5 :
so just in case , do you know that nicotinamide the other form of B3 is useless in reducing cholesterol? 500mg a day of niacin will reduce cholesterol I've heard. if you split it up thew the day it will stop some of the flushing. with all due respect to EMT-B , i've taken niacin for a long time and even if its with a full meal with 500mg I'll get a flush. maybe he uses a timed release verity. anyway i dont mind the flush, i kind of like it. i some times have a cold shower when its happening and i feel real refreshed. some more things that could help are, lecithin, vitamin E, apples and grape fruits for their pectin which takes some cholesterol out of the system, and increase your water. water can lower cholesterol. find out about the book , your body's many cries for water. i don't know how to spell his name but he is a Dr and water actually dose help blood pressure and cholesterol.
6 :
I might be crasy but I like the niacin flush espechaly when its cold out. but I wish I could rember where I read that if you take asprin with it like an hour befor you wont flush might try that

Is There A Link Between Teeth Problems And Heart Disease

Is There A Link Between Teeth Problems And Heart Disease?
I'm sure it relates in some way to bad breath and tooth decay.

I don't think it does
2 :
Bacterial Endocarditis Can have several causes, one of which is bacteria entering the blood stream during dental work (blood is normal completly free of bacteria). If Streptococci ,which are part of the normal flora of the human mouth, enter the blood stream, they can circulate and come to infect the inner layer of the heart - the endocardium -especially if it is already in some why damaged or if the valves have a defect.
3 :
Yes, you're right. There's a relation between teeth problems and heart disease -- specially the role of oral bacteria in the onset of cardiovascular disease. The cause for this is poor oral hygiene, which allows certain pathogens in the mouth to accelerate the formation of plaque in the aorta (the main artery of the body supplying oxygenated blood to the circulatory system). The link between oral health and systemic health has been the subject of university research for a while and also actively reported by medical journals like the Journal of Periodontology. But the critical thing for you and me -- the folks outside the labs -- is to be aware of the symptoms of teeth problems when they first occur. Symptoms that include bad breath, tooth decay and gingivitis. Bad breath may seem like a minor 'social problem' at first, but it signals the onset of something bigger on the health front. Diet, drinks and lifestyle all contribute to diseases that few take seriously till they become full-blown maladies. Take care of the root cause -- the minor thing -- so you don't have to worry about how big a cavity or bleeding gums can become

what can i eat from the Food Guide Pyramid to prevent heart disease

what can i eat from the Food Guide Pyramid to prevent heart disease?

Distilling nutrition advice into a pyramid was a stroke of genius. The shape immediately suggests that some foods are good and should be eaten often, and that others aren't so good and should be eaten only occasionally. The layers represent major food groups that contribute to the total diet. MyPyramid tries to do this in an abstract way, and fails. Six swaths of color sweep from the apex of MyPyramid to the base: orange for grains, green for vegetables, red for fruits, a teeny band of yellow for oils, blue for milk, and purple for meat and beans. Each stripe starts out as the same size, but they don't end that way at the base. The widths suggest how much food a person should choose from each group. A band of stairs running up the side of the Pyramid, with a little stick figure chugging up it, serves as a reminder of the importance of physical activity. http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/pyramid-full-story/index.html READ MORE
2 :
Whole grains = whole wheat bread, rolled oats oatmeal, wheat germ added to any recipe where it's suggested. Omega 3 fatty acids = found in some fish like salmon. It's in the skin of the salmon so it's important not to discard that. Sardines also are a rich source of Omega 3s. Look for the ones NOT packed in oils. They can be found packed in water, mustard or hot sauce. Fresh fruits and vegetables = especially dark green veggies, like spinach, broccoli or kale. With fruits, choose to eat them with skins intact on apples, plums, pears, etc. Other fruits that are good are oranges and bananas. These deliver a number of essential vitamins and minerals. (C, iron, potassium) Fortified milk = It's just about our only source of vitamin D, other than the sun or supplements. Lean meats = chicken or turkey without skin, beef carefully trimmed and without marbling, lean pork cuts like loin or loin chops. Meats should be eaten in moderation. It's health for you and one of the best sources of protein, but it should be limited to maybe six ounces a day. You can supplement your protein needs by eating peanut butter or beans and rice (together they make a near perfect protein). Also eggs in moderation, limited to 3 or 4 a week unless otherwise directed by a physician. Egg whites are available as EggBeaters or Better'n Eggs, but they have very little of the needed protein and fat that are somewhat beneficial in whole eggs. Pastas and noodles = choose the ones made with whole wheat. You may have to cook them a little differently that the semolina, but with seasonings and health sauces they'll be yummy! Whew! With that information you should be ready to have a heart healthy diet! =D
3 :
Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods. Consuming high fat diet, lack of exercise, central obesity, diabetes and hypertension, cigarette smoking, etc., may lead to heart diseases

Do the stroke and heart disease always began by atherosclerosis

Do the stroke and heart disease always began by atherosclerosis?

Heart Diseases - 3 Answers

1 :
i dnt know
2 :
NO. In my case, I had Rheumatic fever which attacked the aortic Valve of my heart and required that valve's replacement. I had a St. Jude device implanted in March of 2006. Since that time I now function as if I had heart disease. I have completely free flowing arteries no blockages but I now have high blood pressure and have to take several heart meds plus live on coumadin forever. I did not have high blood pressure or require heart meds until after surgery.
3 :
Heart disease medications like Lipitor, will give you an increased susceptibility to stroke that is now the number 3 killer in the U.S. Heart disease is caused by processed foods. There is a very tiny bacteria that does not show up on typical blood tests that is called a nanobacteria. This tiny bacteria can be found in cooked foods. It gets into the blood stream and causes inflammation in the arterial wall layers. It bores into the layers of the arterial walls and leaves a blood trail that calcium follows in and creates hardening of the arteries. This bacteria can be found in PCR lab tests, but not typical blood tests. This inflammation is the "root cause" of atherosclerosis. Cholesterol is an alcohol and is immiscible in blood that is basically water. This how the body repairs tissues because the fatty acids used to do repairing attach to the cholesterol (LDL) and are taken to the damaged sites where the repair happens. Once the repair is done, the HDL cholesterol is sent to the site where it gathers up the debris, including the LDL cholesterol and takes it back to the liver to be reconjugated and used again. There are two types of LDL cholesterol, pattern 1 and pattern 2. Typical cholesterol screening tests do NOT determine the quantities or distinguish between the two. Pattern 1 LDL is very good for the body and necessary for repairing tissue. Pattern 2 LDL is very tiny and can contribute to the plaque build up because the HDL has a problem removing this. Since the body makes 85% of the cholesterol found in the body right in the liver, only 15% comes from diet. If you become deficient in cholesterol in your diet, your body simply makes more to compensate since it is a natural healing process. If you become deficient in cholesterol by taking statin drugs, bad diet, etc., you then become susceptible to stroke because the arterial walls can become thin. The first recorded case of cardio myfarction in the U.S. was in 1921. Before that, the incidence of heart disease was almost non existent. When people ate good fats, like saturated fats from butter, coconut oil, palm oil, tallow, lard, the incidence of heart disease was just not there. The introduction of VEGETABLE OILS, hydrogenation, processed foods that contain these bad oils, little nutrients, insecticides, etc. have generated this problem. The SAD (standard American diet) encourages heart disease and the Low Fat, No or little salt, diets are also contributing to this problem and are designed by people with little to no knowledge of how nutrition works in the body. It's NOT easy to be healthy in America today. good luck to you

which behaviors reduce the risk of heart disease

which behaviors reduce the risk of heart disease?
i need to find out which behaviors reduce the risk of heart disease
Heart Diseases - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
exercising
2 :
Healthy behaviors such as eating properly and adding physical activity into your daily routine reduce the risk of heart disease. Eating properly includes adding a wide array of healthful foods to your diet. Try to add whole grains (ie. whole wheat toast, crackers, pastas, cereals) into the mix instead of simple white breads. Also eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and meat low in fat such as poultry or fish. Also avoid meats and other products high in cholesterol because over consumption of those could lead to a higher cholesterol level. Adding exercise into the mix is simple. Just go on a 30 minute walk everyday. Grab a friend or your family and go for a jog.
3 :
The arteries are major blood vessels that the heart uses to pump blood from the heart to the rest of the body. Over time, arterial walls can become congested with a fatty substance known as plaque. When this happens to a severe point, the arteries may begin to harden and the blood flow can become compromised and ultimately result in a heart attack. Mainstream medicine's approach for treating plaque is to use drugs or surgery. However, there are natural ways to prevent and remove plaque. As is the case when addressing many health concerns, exercise and diet can play major roles in avoiding and reducing plaque. Exercise is already known for many benefits to the body such as reducing risk factors for disease, better mental function, and weight control. Exercise can also improve your circulation which can help reduce plaque. According to the Mayo Clinic, you can do this by getting 30 to 60 minutes of exercise on most days of the week. When it comes to diet, what you avoid is equally important as what you eat. Many foods that are high in saturated fat and cholesterol can cause plaque to build up. Some examples include deep fried foods, foods that are high in trans fats, refined foods, and processed foods. Alcohol should also be avoided and red meat should be eaten in small portions. Foods that are nutrient dense, high in fiber, low in sodium and low in saturated fat help avoid and reduce arterial plaque. Fiber helps block the intestinal absorption of cholesterol. It also makes you feel full longer which can result in less overall calorie consumption. Some examples of fiber-rich foods include whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that the body cannot make on its own. They can be found in supplements and also in foods like cold water fish, walnuts, flax seeds and healthy oils such as olive oil. Fish oil supplements can lower blood pressure and reduce arterial plaque and they also lower triglycerides. Niacin raises HDL, which is known as "good cholesterol". HDL cholesterol removes bad LDL cholesterol and arterial plaque. According to the FDA, "Niacin is the best agent known to raise blood levels of HDL, which helps remove cholesterol deposits from the artery walls." Naturally the FDA removed this quote from their website. Vitamin C is crucial in repair and healing of the endothelial layer of cells inside of coronary and carotid arteries. When this layer is not maintained properly by the body, it can become the site for lesions that begin the process of atherosclerosis. Coenzyme Q10 strengthens arteries and veins and cleans out accumulated plaque. Digestive enzymes help break down the food our body does not digest. When taken on an empty stomach, they enter the bloodstream intact. As they circulate, they remove toxins and break down the fats responsible for plaque formation. Digestive enzymes in supplements and raw foods help prevent heart disease. Serrapeptase is a particularly potent digestive enzyme when it comes to dissolving arterial plaque. It has the unique ability to digest non-living tissue that is a by-product of the healing response without harming living tissue. Serrapeptase is used to dissolve non-living tissues to include: scar tissue, fibrosis, blood clots, cysts and arterial plaque. Some herbal remedies can also help fight plaque by improving circulation, reducing blood clots, lowering cholesterol and reducing stress. The herb hawthorn helps remove plaque blockages by widening blood vessels. Horsetail is rich in silica and can aid removal of plaque by strengthening artery walls. Other helpful herbs include ashwagandha, ginger, garlic and guggul

Do you think I have Heart Disease ?
19 yo male smoked 4 a day for 3 years I have weird pains in my legs and chest, but i think they are muscle pains caused by too much sexual activity, cuz it hurts to touch a muscle above my chest. When i read about heart disease symptoms, i feel like i'm getting heart disease. I also have bad acid reflux.

The pains of acid reflux often mimic chest pain in a way that some people think they are having a heart attack. I wouldn't get too worked up until you go to see a Doctor, odds are you are fine.
2 :
Best advise is that you should go see a doctor

Can someone gimme some points about Corony Heart Disease

Can someone gimme some points about Corony Heart Disease.?
I just need small points.
Heart Diseases - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Go to www.WebMd.com for information.
2 :
1. Heart disease is caused by eating processed foods. 2. Inflammation is the real culprit in creating heart disease. When the nanobacteria found in all cooked foods go through the stomach due to a high pH in the stomach, they attack the arteries around the heart by boring into the layers of tissue and calcium from the blood surrounds the bacteria and causes hardening of the arteries. Antacids being given to people in alarming high quantities today are contributing to this high pH issue. 3. Cholesterol is NOT a fat, but is an alcohol. It is a transporter of fatty acids. Fat and water do not mix, but cholesterol can mix with water of the blood and also attach to fatty acids that both cause inflammation and reduce inflammation. It is a natural process for cholesterol to transport fatty acids to a damaged area to generate inflammation to increase blood flow directly to the inflammed area and the to transport fatty acids to carry away the debris and reduce the inflammation. 4. 85% of all the cholesterol in your body is made by the liver and only 15% is from diet. If you do not get the cholesterol in your diet, your body makes more to compensate. 5. There are two types of LDL cholesterol and typical lab tests do not show the differences and so to rely on a typical cholesterol screening that doctors do is ludicrous and not good science. Pattern 1 LDL cholestero is good for the body, but Pattern 2 LDL is the culprit. Only a PCR test can determine this and doctors don't use this because they are told by drug companies it's not necessary. (this is to increase sales of dangerous drugs that damage the body). 6. An increase or decrease in cholesterol readings should be the focus more than the amounts. It is an indication of inflammation in the body and that is the real culprit, not cholesterol. 7. Bad oils, like vegetable oils are being promoted by ignorant people or people with an agenda of profit over health. These oils are made from extracting polyunsaturated oils from seeds, nuts, etc., but they oxidize rapidly and when you buy them in stores, they are rancid. They put deodorizers in these oils to get rid of the stench, but they cause huge inflammation in the body and contribute to heart disease. 8. Statin drugs are dangerous and should never be used for more than a few days at most. They deplete the body's ability to produce the true CoQ-10 that is fully reduced made in the liver. Taking a supplement of CoQ-10 that is not fully reduced as all the ones on the market are made, damages the DNA and this form of CoQ-10 will not help damaged cells and is definitely not good for you to take long term. Statin drugs reduce the cholesterol made in the liver, indescriminately, and allow the arteries to not be repaired properly, leaving the walls of the arteries "thin." This leads to STROKES and stroke is now number 3 killer in the U.S. in part, due to this problem that no one is talking about or telling the public. 9. Drug companies are focused on Profit, not health and so drugs are and have been chosen as the resolution to heart problems, even though heart problems like myocardial myfarction (heart attacks) were first recorded as a problem in 1921 in the U.S. Instead of attacking the real issue, drug companies have drug us through the mire of their inadequacies and agendas to dupe the public into believing what has now become dogma. good luck to you
