Since im a petite 20 year old female and tend to have an issue maintaining weight rather than losing it, I have steered away from exercise due to the fact that I want to keep calories, not lose them and lose weight. However I'm scared this will hurt my heart soon, any advice?

Not excersising doesn't cause heart disease. It doesn't cause anything. Having a history of it, being overweight, smoking, etc makes you more prone to heart disease. It doesn't mean you will get it though. If you are worried about losing weight by exersising, try lifting weights. Just a ten pound weight will raise your heart rate to keep it in shape, but it won't make you super muscular.

Lack of exercise will allow the heart to stay weaker than it would with exercise, and can let HDL the good cholesterol drift downward. Byt HDL can be partly geentic, I am an inactive friend at work whose HDL is a sky high 89. Mine is 47, after a slow increase of 10 points. Regular exercise also helps reduce inflammation by production of Interleukin-10 and maybe others. You shoud still get some exercise for a stronger heart, and maybe try some weight work to see if you can stimulate some muscle growth. Even if you can't, you'll be able to have more fun being fitter and stronger.

It's still important to do some exercise, just to maintain muscle tone and mass. Feel good that you don't have to worry about weight gain. In 30 years that might be entirely different story. Lack of exercise will not cause heart disease. Bad genetics or a bad diet could
