Lets tax liberals more...they are more in favor of taxes after all. As for cigarettes, I say SMOKE EM IF YA GOT EM!!!!!! >:-D

I'm against all "sin" taxation.
3 :
I think both are ridiculous.

Maybe it's because not all fat people have heart disease. And because not all people with heart disease are fat. I have an aunt who's had heart problems all her life, and she's as thin as a pole. .

Investigate the cost of treating diabetics if you want to be shocked. It costs waaay more than any tobacco related illnesses. Junk food should be taxed 900 %

Because its a wayyyyyy different story! My sister is fat and that girl takes care of her self. She eats right and goes to the gym every other day. But i guess she will never be skinny. Shes always have a thick aspect about her. So why tax something other pepole dont have control of? See ciggarettes you have a choice to kill your self/ ruin your life/ your health so why not tax idiots?, for pepole like my sister they dont have a choice but to accept the fact there not thin.

I never applaud any new taxes. I think they're a form of tyranny. Remember this nation opposes governmental tyranny. I also oppose new spending, for the same reason.
9 :
I support the Fat Tax because the best way to utopia is through elimination of inferior humans. Taxes are a good way of making money, and fat people ought to be turned into Solyent Green so they can be redistributed. Therefore, fat taxes are a win-win situation.

I am against all sin taxes.

I, for one, am not.

I am against sin taxes also. If there was a "fat tax", that would include pretty much everything the average American eats.

Because often those who are in the poorer income bracket can't afford all these nice, organic, healthy foods. ($5 for a peach?) These "fat taxes" are only going to sink the lower class deeper.
14 :
Because almost all of the people who wanted the cigarette tax didn't smoke, and they were told it would replace other taxes. The fat tax on the other hand, can not be avoided by simply not doing an activity; you have to comply with the government's standard for what is overweight and how the government measures it (body mass index, scale, etc.).

Smoking is not genetic, while obesity has a strong genetic link. You can tax "bad foods" all day long, yet some people will always be prone to obesity. In fact, the ability to lay down fat stores is a huge (pun intended) reason why the human race dominates every other species. *****Anyone who votes for a senator/representative/president who raises taxes should be the only ones paying those taxes. Otherwise, you have taxation w/o representation.*****

as far as punk roc goes lets see the republicans pay for the iraq war via taxes since they needed it so bad? i question if they would have supported it in a pay as you go program, it has been said that the levys in new orleans needed improvements and was a shovel ready project and bush pulled funds to fund his war then the hurricane came and major flooding happened. the natl guard was in iraq and homeland security failed, they wanted to contract everything to make a buck. the fact is texass is the most obese state in america and our food industry is killing us for profits. do not forget under bush the nicotine levels in cigarettes rose another 8% this after Dem's had hearings with tobacco industry leaders who lied about the health effects of cigarettes.

In my case it's because smokers endanger the health of everyone they smoke around, and not all overweight people suffer from heart disease. Also poor people tend to be overweight because unhealthy food is cheaper. Taxing the poor for getting fat off of the food they can afford is wrong
