Explain why lung cancer, coronary heart disease and stroke are categorised as degenerative diseases?

Because in these diseases the structure or function of the affected tissues deteriorates over time.

They are all diseases that destroy tissue, thus DEgenerative. REgenerative implies creation, not distruction.

the simple answer is, the desease will get worse over time.

Because as we get older our heart and lungs start to show signs of wear and tear, just like a car engine. Once these organs get into a bad degenerative state they become susceptible to the diseases that you mentioned. Strokes are usually a result of our blood vessels wearing out. Which again is a degenerative condition that slowly gets worse
