Well, my grandfather died of a heart attack and that was from smoking. It causes coronary heart disease which leads to heart attack. It increases blood pressure and the likelihood of blood clotting and even decreases "good" cholesterol. not good.

Cigerratte or any other somke contain many hazardous substance, in the devepoment of heart disease, these substances play an important role. Our blood vessels have endothelial cells on the inner side of the blood vessel. These cells inhibits clotting of our blood inside the vessel. Substances in the smoke damage the walls of our vessles by damaging the endothelial cells. When the endothelial cells are damaged, cholestrol and fats get accumulated beneath the endothelial layer. This causes a bulge inside the vessel, so this bulge narrows the lumen of the vessel this reduces the blood supply to the area which that blood vessel is supplying so if that blood vessel is supplying the heart , this leads to Angina. And if that bulge completely obstructs the vessel lumen, or that bulge brusts inside the vessle causing clot formation inside the blood vessel, then it leads to Myocardial Infraction (Commonly know as Heart Attack). Smoking doesn't only cause heart diseases, but it causes certain cancers, and respiratory diseases. List is too long to be mentioned. So if you smoke quit smoking immediately and strat regular exercise. You'll not get Heart Attack.

Tobacco smoke — Smokers' risk of developing coronary heart disease is 2–4 times that of nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking is a powerful independent risk factor for sudden cardiac death in patients with coronary heart disease; smokers have about twice the risk of nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking also acts with other risk factors to greatly increase the risk for coronary heart disease. People who smoke cigars or pipes seem to have a higher risk of death from coronary heart disease (and possibly stroke) but their risk isn't as great as cigarette smokers'. Exposure to other people's smoke increases the risk of heart disease even for nonsmokers.
