Most of the time only the heart failure itself is treated with diuretics and or beta blockers or even lanoxin or other drugs to help pumping function of the heart. Once the damage is done, there is no cure, only treatment and prevention to prevent active heart failure unless you are a candidate for heart transplant, in which case all factors causing the heart failure would have to be treated individually if they are treatable prior to transplant. Avoid sodium, restrict fluids to less than a liter a day if possible, keep blood pressure under control. Walk daily for 20 minutes if ok with doctor to strengthen heart muscle.See a doctor you are satisfied with who treats you like a person and not another case. Get an echo if not already done to determine ejection fraction and other hemodynamics.
