Any type of birth control makes women more prone to thrombotic diseases, these are blood clots that form most commonly in the legs and then they may travel to your lungs (principal site), or your heart or even your brain. Of course the odds are low, but you should be careful if you have any associated condion like: previous clots, a positive family history, you're over 40, you smoke cigarrettes, you have high blood preasure... Check with your doctor before using any type of hormonal birth control.

If you are over 35 years of age and you smoke it can cause problems for your heart.Do you still have the packaging of your birth control patches? There should be an insert that has warnings and side effects printed out for you. Or,you can ask your pharmacist for the information
