I have applied for social security disablity in November and they have until March 30th to state an answer either way. I was just wondering if anyone knew of anyone with good news or bad news relating to acceptance or denial of the claim. I have hypertension, aortic stenosis, bicuspid aortic valve, peripheal edema and tachycardia. I have seen the same cardiologist for twelve years since I was 18. Thanks.

I have a brother who was in Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas about 5 years ago. ..He'd gotten a really bad viral infection in his heart/lungs, and his heart ended up becoming very enlarged/deformed as a result. He was in the Baylor University Hospital because he needed to get a heart transplant. ...Long story short: it was decided he didn't qualify for medical help because he'd worked really hard and had put in TOO much money into Social Security! ...Yes, you read correctly! He was actually on the transplant list and hooked up to IVs, etc. ...The nurses came in, took out the IVs, and no one explained why. ....Shortly thereafter, a social worker came in to explain my brother was basically being sent home to die. That tough s.o.b. is still alive, despite what happened. SSI WAS eventually given, but they still denied the transplant. ....The Social Security office told my brother he was being cut off, so he recently went back to work in the oil fields...huffing and puffing ...(and I think he'll die of heart failure out in the field). I hope, for you, SSI will come through. Best of everything!

It's entirely possible that they will deny your claim. If they do, appeal it as many times as it takes for them to approve you. If you do, then when you are approved they have to pay you retroactive to the date you first applied. A lot of times, social security denies claims to weed people out. They only want those who have serious problems to be granted the money, so they make it very difficult. Sadly, I know people who are really capable of work who have been granted social security because they were stubborn enough to appeal their cases, and people who really need it, but have given up. I wish you the best of luck with your claim
