My father died in his home, stricken by his heart disease and fell to the floor, sitting....?
I am devastated!!! Is it common for people to die in their home with no warning? I feel like this is a weird way of dying, I feel like an outcast, but I want to know if this is warranted or not.....it's not like I could control when he passed, this is the LAST thing on earth I would have wanted!!! Thank you Scorpio.....he went to the doctor regularly and obeyed all orders and took his heart and diabetes medications.....

I'm sorry to hear about your father :( If you think about it, everyone has to die somewhere, sometime. Many people die in their home, because that's where they happen to be at the time. I don't know your particular situation, so I can't really say anything about the 'no warning.' Maybe there was no warning, or maybe he didn't listen to his doctor or wasn't going to the doctor in the first place. In any event, it's not all that unusual for this to happen, for whatever the reason is. I'm sorry about your loss.

I know you are so hurt by this. Your dad had high blood pressure and diabetes. Unfortunately, we do all have to go at some point. Diabetes causes all kinds of bad things to happen to the major organs, especially the heart and kidneys. He may have felt nothing, but he also may have had some warning and ignored it, thinking it was the usual aches and pains. I am sorry for your loss. What you are feeling now is a sense of abandonment and loneliness. Try to remember him in happier days and maybe some of the hurt and anger will leave you.

im sorry about your loss:( but yes is is very common for people to die unexpectedly, for numerous reasons (overdose, stroke, heart attacks, blood clots, etc) age can also effect the way someone dies. but think of it this way, at least your dad from a natural cause and not something that could have been prevented. my mother had actually passed away earlier this year unexpectedly also at the age of 38, except she overdosed. it was very surprising and was very brutal to go through, but you do recover. things can only look up when you hit rock bottom. therapy does help.

Im sorry for your loss. Diabetes and cardiovascular disease are closely related. Patients usually develop an emergency when they suffer a stroke or a heart attack. Presuming that your dad developed a heart attack, patients can go into sudden cardiac death secondary to arrhythmia or irregularity in the beating of his heart. Patients usually lose consciousness within seconds when this happen, making it impossible for patients to seek help. Regular follow-up and intake of medications does not guarantee against a heart attack, though they reduce the chances of having one significantly.

I'm sorry for your loss but to answer your question, yes, it is very common. I have a friend who's FIL died the same way, at home with no warning. His wife was asking him what he wanted for breakfast and he never answered her so she called her DIL who lived a few houses up the street and was a paramedic. When the DIL got there she saw her FIL was dead. He had Congestive Heart Failure. Many people who die at home with no warning have a massive heart attack, they just die without warning. Her FIL was 70y/o and diabetic. Anyone with heart disease or without heart disease can have a massive attack. I am sorry but it is more common than you think. You have my condolences
