It would be a challenge. Get some basic pediatric CPR training first before you embark on that endeavor.
2 :
maybe
3 :
i would but i would be scared she might have a heart attack or something i would just get enmergeny stuff and instruction on how to take care of hear
4 :
i would ..maybe you could offer to take a trip to the doctor on her next visit so they can ... tell you everything you might need to know and that way you'll show your responsibility and commitment!
5 :
Get a written waiver from her parents to hold you and your parents harmless
6 :
Yea, I would. If she isn't at a hospital, than she is probably okay for the evening.
7 :
No way, that's too much responsibility for me. I would rather have someone who knows what they are doing take care of a child with special needs. I couldn't handle it if something happened and I didn't know what to do.
8 :
i think u should
9 :
IMO, it must not be too problemental, or the parents would not be wishing to leave her while they go out, no? I agree with the first poster, get educated on Pediatric CPR. They may have shared this information with you just in passing, or it may be problematic. The only way to know for sure is to talk to her parents, or have her parents and your parents get together and make sure it's a good match. I mean, my grandmother is 89 and has congestive heart failure, and now that she's stable, it's not problematic in the least. Best of luck!
10 :
You just have to be careful, if in case something happens how will you react or what should you do and if you are ready to do all the necessary things i think it should not be a problem at all.
11 :
How old are you and how responsible are you? Are the parents of this child comfortable with you staying alone with her? Take some Red Cross CPR and first aid classes and maybe have your parents talk to the little girl's parents and find out the type and severity of her heart disease so they will be more aware and maybe more willing to work with you. Or could you keep her at your house? Good luck!!
12 :
To be perfectly honest, I would baby sit a little girl with a heart disease. I have an older brother that has a heart disease which is called LQT Syndrome. He has a pacemaker and has to go to the doctors for frequent check-ups. He is 19 going on 20 and he is the most wild and craziest person I have meet in my entire life.
13 :
Of course! I would ask her parents where her emergency meds are and how to administer them in case she had problems. I would also have her parents give you all the emergency contact numbers. Also, get CPR training for children. Good luck!
14 :
yes, but I have training with children with special medical needs. That doesn't mean you can't do it. You should talk to her parents and discuss all the care and emergency actions you would need to take. Also take a babysitting class. If you are passionate about babysitting her then you will do what it takes to do so. Good Luck!
15 :
Depends on your mood towards the idea...there is no way that the girl can infect you with the disease, so there goes the idea that your life would be at stake if you babysit her. You have to be doing the job not only for the money or the sake of it...you have to be motivated and responsible. Then again, your parents know best and if anything you do puts the girl in danger, your parents will probably suffer the consequences. On the other hand, I see no harm in doing it.
16 :
Generally 'heart disease' refers to coronary artery disease (leads to sudden heart attacks) but children do not have this problem. I suspect by heart disease you mean some sort of cardiac disorder...a valve doesn't work, or has a rhythm disorder, or a hole in the septum - something she was born with. At age seven it is rare that this thing is suddenly discovered (usually it is discovered when she was a baby) and if she has lived seven years, this must be a pretty stable condition. But I am just surmising. So in order to answer your question - YOU need more information from the child's parents. What exactly is the problem? Are there any special precautions that should be taken given her condition? Given worst case, what could go wrong? Has it ever happened before? What would you want me to do in that worst case scenario? Only after those questions are answered, can you reasonably decide whether taking care of this child is something you could handle or not. Everything else is a completely blind guess both on your part and your parents' part. Good luck.
17 :
Baby sitting a child without any illness is a huge responsibility anyway. Depending on how serious this poor little girls condition is I don't believe her parents have the right to put you in such a position. This child should always be in the care of a direct family member or a nurse. How would you feel if this little girl stopped breathing or something else potentially fatal happened when you were her only link to life? I can't believe her parents would put you in such a situation. There are hundreds of babysitting jobs you could do. Your parents are right. Find another job. Good Luck and let us all hope the little girl leads a long and happy life despite her condition.
18 :
Have you been trained in adult and child CPR? How about basic first aid? And what do the child's parent's say about the type of heart disease? If she's had repair of a hole in her heart or something similar, then yes, because her prognosis is fine. If it's more serious than that, you may want to think twice.
19 :
i would but i am and always have been as long as i can remember, certified in c.p.r. and first-aid . show your parents you can handle it
20 :
You have MY vote for babysitting. Just call 911 if there is any problem, or ask the parents for the girl's doctor's number. P.S. It's spelled responsibility.
21 :
Just the fact that they asked you means they think you are responsible enough, BUT your parents might have a point. My youngest child was born with congenital heart disease and had 2 open chest and 1 open heart surgery before she was 1 month old. (She is now 21 and doing very well.) When she was young it freaked people out when they saw her scars or found out she had heart problems, BUT in her case, her doctors insisted that she be treated like any other child, and had no limitations. Every case is different though! If you really want the job, perhaps you should ask your parents to talk to the other parents and maybe if your parents had more information they might reconsider.
22 :
yes probably

Are you familiar with L Carnitine and Taurine holisitic treatments for dogs with heart disease

Are you familiar with L Carnitine and Taurine holisitic treatments for dogs with heart disease?
There is a website regarding this treatment, but they do not return my calls. I am looking for help in finding these products for canine heart health. I do not believe I can just go to the health food store and buy them, as they have to be compounded. Thanks

I'm your age and skinny too! I was diagnosed with S.V.T. last week:( . It's where my heart can suddenly start really fast. even when i'm just sitting and watching t.v.! it's common, so go see a doctor. so yeah, i'm proof it IS possible. lol
2 :
I face the same thing too! I can be suddenly afraid of something, heart beat fast, even i'm just relaxing, or cooking....that's weird. When i went for a check-up, the doc told me that my heart beat is fine and regular!
3 :
Yes it is possible, but not likely that it is a serious heart problem especially if you are not born with it or have had some sickness like endocriatis. But it IS possible. I am 16 years old, also skinny(im 5ft, 90lbs) and i was born with 2 congenital heart defects called Bicuspid Aortic valve and Aortic stenosis, then when i was 10 i developed a complication of those two heart problems, called aortic regurgition(which is another heart problem that developed because of my two pre existing problems) and at 14 i developed an enlarged aorta(another heart problem that is a complication of bicuspid aortic valve). I will need open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve, and the aorta above it. I go to my cardiologist in a few weeks to check my heart, see if its stable or if i need heart surgery now. Also i go to camp for kids with heart disease. The kids are between 8 and 17, and they all have heart disease, most have had many surgeries and are on lots of meds and some have even had heart transplants or passed away. So its very possible to have a heart problem, No it is not likely it is serious unless you were born with it, its most likely something like SVT which can occur in otherwise healthy kids, adolecents or adults. most people will live a normal life

Sadly this is an all too common picture, and I feel sorry for your loss. There is a small but signficant number of people who have artery damage from too much fat/cholesterol in their blood beore the age of 40. Many autopsies have shown the early effects in 17 and 18 year olds. Most people do not get their first cholesterol test until they are in their 40s. This would have been the first help, but it often happens this way. Pity because the new medicines are very very good at keeping cholesterol at safe levels. Second, a simple test called a Treadmill Stress Test could also have picked up your friends condition, and again most people do not get these young, rather it is usually in the late 40s at best. Once blockages are found, they can oftne be addressed with a catheterization, sometimes an artery bypass.
2 :
Could be that the person ignored the symptoms of a heart attack, thought it was indigestion or simply didn't have any symptoms as diabetics often don't.
3 :
Sorry, it happens, that's why people should get regular check ups or go to their doctor at the slightest hint of chest pains, shortness of breath or irregular heart beats or a history of the disease, some people are either afraid of the diagnosis or think its nothing or just old age setting in and never bothered getting it checked, especially if their lifestyle was largely sedentary in the first place. bb usually refers to a class of medications used to lower blood pressure and stands for beta blockers.
4 :
Without knowing this person's lifestyle, some people simply have a high genetic tendency to develop heart disease and high cholesterol. Fortunately, there are medications that can be taken that help in many cases, but not all. And the person needs to be aware they have these issues in the first place. While some people never notice any symptoms (this is common in diabetics due to nerve damage), sadly, others ignore their symptoms. They shrug chest pain off as "heartburn" or shortness of breath as "allergies" or "being out of shape". That said, there are some common risk factors that lead to early heart disease: -Being overweight/obese. -Having insulin resistance or diabetes (both Types 1 and 2). Note: Type 1 diabetes is NOT related to obesity or lifestyle, but high blood sugars increase your risk of heart disease. -Having high blood pressure. -Smoking or using street drugs like cocaine or meth -Chronic alcohol abuse -Eating a high animal fat diet, or lots of junk foods (trans fats). -Eating a high glyecemic carb diet, which can lead to insulin resistance and abdominal obesity. -Physically inactive -Certain medications, like steroids for arthritis. -Inflammatory diseases like autoimmune diseases, and high levels of c-reactive protein. There is still much we don't know about heart disease. There is some evidence to suggest that certain viruses and infections may cause heart disease and damage to the arteries in some people. Then blockages start to form in these damaged arteries. I would check to see if there is ANY record of this person complaining about heart related symptoms to their doctor. If so, and nothing was done, you may be able to take this further. If not, all you can do is have their family members screened for heart disease, and get them living a healthy lifestyle to reduce their risk. Everyone should be doing this. Perhaps their family might like to make a donation to the local heart association in their name? I'm sorry for your loss

impossible. there's no room for more than one heart in a person there's exactly ONE cavity in your chest where your heart is my mom knows a girl who had an unusually large heart and had a serious heart condition, so it was hard to find a heart for her since if it was too small there would literally just be space around her heart- bad. anyways, hope this helps

When a military member has a medical condition (including mental health conditions) which renders them unfit to perform their required duties, they may be separated (or retired) from the military for medical reasons. The process to determine medical fitness for continued duty involves two boards -- One is called the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB), and the other is called the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB). While most MEB/PEB actions occur when a military member voluntarily presents him/herself at the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) for medical care, commanders may, at any time, refer military members to the MTF for a mandatory medical examination, when they believe the member is unable to perform his/her military duties due to a medical condition. This examination may cause conduct of a MEB, which will be forwarded to the PEB when it finds that the member's medical condition falls below medical retention standards. The standard used by the PEB for determining fitness is whether the medical condition precludes the member from reasonably performing the duties of his or her office, grade, rank, or rating. Per DoD Instruction 1332.38, inability to perform the duties of office, grade, rank or rating in every geographic location and under every conceivable circumstance will not be the sole basis for a finding of unfitness. Deployability, however, may be used as a consideration in determining fitness. These recommendations are forwarded to a central medical board and can be appealed by the member, who is permitted to have legal counsel at these hearings

can snus give you cancer or heart disease

can snus give you cancer or heart disease?
i was wondering cause on this one site it said it wasnt linked to cancer or heart disease. is this true? snus is a kind of dip where its ok to actually swallow the juice

never heard of snus
2 :
Well it has been linked to both, but it doubles the risk of pancreatic cancer from .0004% to .0009% and the heart disease probably has more to do with nicotine in general. Nicotine in general has been linked to heart disease. From what I have read, snus is by far the safest way to take in tobacco, compared to dip and cigarettes
