Honey, you can't fix her. Sounds like she has made her mind up to not try. You need to do something for yourself: remember, the only person you can fix is you. It might be a good idea to back off, or you could get really hurt. She's committing suicide slowly. Don't let her take you with her.
2 :
It is impossible to say how long she has or when a disease may have its onset. However, with a strong family history of diabetes and heart disease coupled with poor eating habits and sedate lifestyle, it is only a matter of time before she presents with these conditions. Hopefully, she does not smoke.
3 :
She has few risk factories to have higher chance to develop(may already has) heart disease(mean ashd, cad);htn, obesity strong family history of heart disease and life style. When will be no one can tell .She may never developed heart disease.Human body is very unique, nothing is 100%.

The person you are describing is on a fast path to developing diabetes and heart disease. As for a time line, it's impossible to determine "when" a person will develop a disease. But these are things we do know: 1) She is fast approaching menopausal age. Prior to menopause, women are somewhat protected from heart disease via the benefits of estrogen. However, women who have gone through menopause have the same risk of developing heart disease as a man does. Strike one. 2) Type II diabetes generally occurs in those who are overweight and over 40, although it is now seen more commonly in younger patients due to the diabetes epidemic. Strike two. 3) Hypertension (high blood pressure) often contributes to heart disease. Strike three. 4) Family history of heart disease. Strike four. 5) "Strange heart beats" is a bit too vague, but some abnormal beats (dysrhythmias) can be caused by heart disease. Strike five. I would highly advise this individual to change her ways, seek medical advise, and have a thorough check up. She's lucky she has you in her life to watch out for her. Good luck!
5 :
Her lifestyle leaves her health in jeopardy, but nobody has a crystal ball that dtermines when or if an individual will become

Heart Disease and Birth Control

Heart Disease and Birth Control?
I heard on the news yesterday that if you've taken birth control pill for 10 years you have a 20-30 percent increase in your chances of Heart Disease(healthy non-s mokers!). Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Yes it is true, birth control pills are considered as one of the factors that promotes the development of Heart disease in prolonged use, me personally won't think about it twice of taking this medication. If you are taking it and decide to quit well that will be the best thing to do and to prevent pregnancy you could practice the safe sex or use other methods to prevent it; as I said only if you are willing to stop taking them. Now all is in your hands. Good Luck
2 :
It has been a well established fact (20-30 years) that BC can also cause blood clots and stroke. The real question is why

Since Heart Disease is the largest killer of Americans, why won't people at least try to eat better

Since Heart Disease is the largest killer of Americans, why won't people at least try to eat better?
I understand that people should be able to eat what they want, but why do they refuse to develop a taste for and want something that won't hospitalize them? I'm not talking about people who are in their 60's, I'm talking about those in their 50's and below. Thanks for your help. :-)

Food tastes too good. Except spinach.
2 :
Because doing something like that, i mean eating health is to hard, more costly, and takes more time. America is only looking for what is the easiest and eating healthy is not the easy thing to do.
3 :
Because people are always on the go trying to make a living ,and do not have time to cook a healthy meal ,so they go to McDonald's instead because it is fast and easy.
4 :
American human nature. Whatever's quicker and easier.
5 :
That would be too easy.
6 :
Because a lot of so called 'healthy' foods aren't really healthy. American foods are processed and our meats are injected with steroids and antibiotics. Our food is so heavily altered and manufactured that by the time we get to it, it's hardly even real food anymore.
7 :
Because lots of reasons. One is that unhealthier foods usually taste better than healthier foods. Unhealthier meals are easier, quicker, and cheaper to prepare. There are also chemicals in fast food and other things you can buy that have an effect of a slight form of addiction. Take care and God bless

Is Coronary CT angiogram more reliable than invasive coronary angiogram to diagnose heart disease

Is Coronary CT angiogram more reliable than invasive coronary angiogram to diagnose heart disease?

Heart Diseases - 3 Answers

1 :
Invasive is the best solution as in case of bile duct the obstruction cannot be seen on Sonogram, so a probe is passed to check its patency. This question was Put up in FRCS and many candidates flunked all ticked Sonogram.
2 :
It's a little weird that the person claiming to be a doctor seems to be answering a completely different question than the one you asked, Badius, but I will try to clear things up. Loving_Heart's answer is in reference to bile duct disease and not coronary disease. It's hard for anyone to say that coronary CT angiogram is "better" or "more reliable" than traditional coronary angiography because the studies that have been published almost universally use traditional coronary angiography as the "gold standard". The accuracy of coronary CT is therefore usually given in reference to coronary angiography. The studies that have been published suggest that 64-slice CT has a sensitivity of 93-100%, specificity of 90-95%, and positive and negative predictive values of 75-85% and 95-100%, respectively, for detecting significant coronary stenoses. In other words, CT angiography is a pretty good test and will probably get better. Right now, it is a little better at telling us who DOESN'T have coronary disease than who does, and it is much less helpful in people who have stents or bypasses.
3 :
No. An invasive coronary angiogram is the gold standard for visualizing the coronary vessels. The picture of a CT angio is often obscured by artefact caused by calcium in the vessels, by chest movement of the patients, etc. Current data has proven that the reproducibility of the invasive angio is definitely more than that of the CT angio. That said, if a patient of mine had low probability of coronary heart disease but complains of cardiac sounding chest pains with a normal ECG/stress test, I would be hard pressed to send him for an invasive angio and would opt instead for a CT angio. Each has its place in clinical management of people with heart disease

which test is preferable to know a person is not suffering from heart disease? read details

which test is preferable to know a person is not suffering from heart disease? read details?
a person is suffering from diabetes and hyper tension for the last 25 years. he/she is getting treatment from a general physician. his diabetes is under control but not hypertension. his family doctor advised him to consult cardiologist. he consulted two cardiologists. one cardiologist advised him to take 2 D Echo test and another cardiologist advised him to undergo Tread mill test. which test will reveal that person is not having cardiac ailment? which one is preferable? 2 D echo test or TMT. please advice.

i've taken them both and both have showed the same results. i have heart disease and have had a heart attack. i think the nuclear stress test is best. they put an IV in your arm and inject nuclear liquid and can trace how your heart is functioning. it's expensive but my health insurance covers it
2 :
I am not a medical doctor, but my experience tells me that Murzy is correct. A Tread Mill stress test is less expensive and is given if the person is believed capable of withstanding the stress of a treadmill and is capable of doing it. A nuclear stress test, according to those I have known who have taken it, is also stressful and informative, but does not require physical exertion. How effective these tests are, however, might depend on where the blockage is and if there is a blockage of any sort. Usually they are pretty accurate. Good luck!
3 :
Having had both of them I understand that 2 D echo test is somewhat more accurate, because it is not dependent on an individuals performance, so there would be less variance. In addition I found that the exercise got to be very tiring and unpleasant. The major advantage of the Tread mill test is that it's cheaper but much more uncomfortable. Those who are able and willing to withstand the rig ours of the TMT would be the best candidates. Those who ar more at risk, and unwilling should take the 2D Echo. In these cases it is also very important to respect the patients; wishes. In summary all things being equal both tests are capable of discovering blockages if they exist Hope this helps

Hi - Rheumatic fever is a condition that potentially ocurs after a streptococcal throat infection that goes untreated with antibiotics - the body produces antibodies to the strep, but these antibodies also affect the heart and other organs in some people. This is potentially serious (again, especially the heart effects); and so it needs to be monitored and treated. One of the treatments is penicillin, which is an antibiotic against streptococcus. It is not a steroid. If you leave rheumatic fever untreated, or do not stick to your treatment, you may damage your heart valves (permanently), and this is called rheumatic heart disease. For these reasons, a strep throat should always be treated with an antibiotic. Other causes of throat infections (esp. viruses) do not require antibiotics as urgently, or at all.

There are many conditions and diseases the will disable one to run or exercise. Heart enlargement, hole in heart, enlarged chambers, clogged coronaries, narrow aorta...and many many more. Heart rate is suppose to increase in argument, it is natural. You should have a physical with a physician and have some early exams for your heart to make sure you don't have any condition
