congenial means "at birth" and how long you can live with it all depends on what type of heart defect you are born with and the severity of it.
2 :
Congenital - means you are born with a heart problem - it is too general to answer your questions as it covers such a large range of issues.
3 :
Please see the web pages for more details on Congenital Heart disease.
4 :
Congenital heart disease affects children, infants, and even fetuses, which are still developing inside the uterus. Congenital heart disease has many forms. Grouped into different types, it is usually diagnosed and treated accordingly. The disease normally includes one of the following: abnormal holes in the heart chambers, improper connections between chambers which leads deoxygenated blood flow to the body instead of the lungs and oxygenated blood to flow to the lungs instead of the body, and much more. Symptoms are quite similar to the usual heart disease symptoms, such as shortness of breath, complete passing out, fast breathing and difficulty in feeding, poor weight gain, chest pain, and cyanosis. You can find much more detailed information at http://heart.health.ivillage.com/congenitalheartdisease/congenitalheart.cfm --Niks
5 :
Congenital heart disease comes in various forms. It would be too long to discuss each and every type. You better be specific. Is it PDA? VSD? ASD? TOF? Symptoms also vary with each type. How long you can live without surgery depends on the severity of the disease. Some may reach adulthood, some may not. =(
6 :
conginital heart disease r a group of diseases which r due to some abnormality during organogensis in pregnancy may be viral infection or lack of some nutrients or drug interactions may result in conginital ( since birth defects ) They r of two type 1cynotic 2Non cynotic . In cynotic there is mixture on unoxygenated blood with oxygentic blood & the rt & left side have some connxion . This result in shortness of breath ,stunted growth ,weakness etc & immediate surgery as advised by a cardiovascular surgeon is essential to save complications & survival. In acynotic like atrial septald efect may go unnoticed for years even upt 4 or 5 th decade. Ventricular Septal defect VSD if small may not give rise to any symptoms but id large needed closure. & after surgery usually no complications remain. This may give rise to symptoms like recurrent resp. infections ,shortness of breath ,retarded growth . After surgery longativity of life is good with regular checkups & needed drugs..
7 :
Congenital heart disease only means you were born with a heart disease or defect. You must see a cardiologist to get the specifics , the cardiac problem may be so small it will never be a problem or it could be a major problem

Is Cardiovascular (/heart) disease dependent on race or ethnicity

Is Cardiovascular (/heart) disease dependent on race or ethnicity?
If so, is there a reason behind it?

1 :
It is much more common with African-Americans and Native Americans (especially minority women). With Native Americans, it is usually a result of a poor diet, which often leads to diabetes. With African Americans, it is also related to poor diet and unhealthy habits, but it tends to be a genetic issue as well
2 :
My case is heredity. Not overweight, consume very little salt, don't smoke or drink. Docs don't have an answer just scratch their heads. All tests show that I should not have a problem. Oh well
3 :
It is more dependent on family history, If your mother or father have it then you are at higher risk
4 :
Yes, to some extent, but greater role is played by Hereditary, age & Life style. However persistent stress in modern style life style cannot be overlooked

My cat was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and heart disease.

My cat was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and heart disease.?
I'm struggling with the knowing the right time to have him put down because he is still acting like a normal cat. He doesn't seem to be suffering at this time with the exception of his weight. Although he has a good appetite, he is losing weight due to the cancer. Does anybody have any ideas on what I can feed him to help increase his weight or to, at least, keep him from losing anymore weight?

See the vets for this, they will know wht to do, and their the best people to go to. My deepest sympathy for your cat, i hate to see animals suffer. Please give him a good life
2 :
No, sweetie Idk. I'm sorry your cat is so ill. I know it's hard to choose when to take them to the doctor. My dog stopped being able to walk. My other dog was clearly in pain. When the time comes, I'm sure you'll know what to do. TX Mom

I am sorry to hear about your cat. My cat was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma this year and is in remission because it was caught in very early stages. I currently give my cat Mirtazapine to increase his appetite. I was initially told to give him a 1/4 tab (15 mg tablet) every 3 days. He now takes the same dose every 5 - 7 days since he doesn't need it that often anymore. You will need to get a prescription from your Vet but it is fairly inexpensive and has kept my cat's weight up. I think that you will know when it's the right time to put your cat down. The important thing is that he has a good quality of life. Good luck and stay strong

Will lack of exercise cause me heart disease

Will lack of exercise cause me heart disease?
Since im a petite 20 year old female and tend to have an issue maintaining weight rather than losing it, I have steered away from exercise due to the fact that I want to keep calories, not lose them and lose weight. However I'm scared this will hurt my heart soon, any advice?

Not excersising doesn't cause heart disease. It doesn't cause anything. Having a history of it, being overweight, smoking, etc makes you more prone to heart disease. It doesn't mean you will get it though. If you are worried about losing weight by exersising, try lifting weights. Just a ten pound weight will raise your heart rate to keep it in shape, but it won't make you super muscular.
2 :
Lack of exercise will allow the heart to stay weaker than it would with exercise, and can let HDL the good cholesterol drift downward. Byt HDL can be partly geentic, I am an inactive friend at work whose HDL is a sky high 89. Mine is 47, after a slow increase of 10 points. Regular exercise also helps reduce inflammation by production of Interleukin-10 and maybe others. You shoud still get some exercise for a stronger heart, and maybe try some weight work to see if you can stimulate some muscle growth. Even if you can't, you'll be able to have more fun being fitter and stronger.
3 :
It's still important to do some exercise, just to maintain muscle tone and mass. Feel good that you don't have to worry about weight gain. In 30 years that might be entirely different story. Lack of exercise will not cause heart disease. Bad genetics or a bad diet could

3000 years ago how did the Bible know which meats causes problems like heart disease and high blood pressure

3000 years ago how did the Bible know which meats causes problems like heart disease and high blood pressure?
The book of Leviticus defined by every animal on Earth what is good to eat and what is bad to eat. Science today proves they accurately defined those things. How did they know 3000 years ago? Was it wild eyed guesses OR did the creator tell them? 'tаɪ.lər (below) So you claim that they simply performed autopsies like today as well as ran double-blind studies. Yea right.
Religion & Spirituality - 13 Answers

1 :
Human body chemistry hasn't changed much within the last 3000 years, so it's not surprising that our bodies still react badly to the same things. The Bible also says that the world is flat, you know. Update: Chi Guy, I did not say that. If you eat something and it affects you negatively, you will know; no autopsies or double-blind studies necessary. Other holy texts have been right too, and the Bible is full of falsities.
2 :
The same way they do now, inspection of the causes, through investigation, but probably not as well.
3 :
Including four legged insects? (Lev 11:23)
4 :
I don't recall the bible mentioning heart disease or HBP...
5 :
It did no such thing. There is nothing wrong with pork and shellfish. This is another example of where people try to say the bible it true when it's not even in the same universe as true. It's gotten to the point where poeple completely make stuff up
6 :
I think it said that rabbits chew their cud and that bats are birds... and it didn't say they were bad for YOU, it said they're a sin.
7 :
did it ever considered to you maybe people in that time ate that food and there came storys about that food killing you in the old times people looked for food everywhere so it wouldent take long to spread out
8 :
It didn't. "Science today proves they accurately defined those things." No, it doesn't. The OT prohibits eating pork -- handled and prepared properly, pork is fine to eat. Not only that, it has more vitamins and protein than beef, and less saturated fat. It's *better* than beef -- yet the bible allows beef and prohibits pork. Lobster and shrimp are very healthy, yet the bible prohibits them. The bible got almost nothing right, and the few things it did get right don't mention either heart disease or high blood pressure. Peace.
9 :
Wow! They did that because people died from eating those things. Pork is notoriously known for trichinosis. With shellfish, if you don't keep it cold, it develops bacterial organisms that can sicken or kill someone. How would they have known that they were supposed to keep it cold? And I was not aware that pork and shellfish cause heart disease and high blood pressure...it's not one's diet that causes high blood pressure although if you already have it, it can be exacerbated by not eating healthier. What I do know is that red meat is the main cause (of the foods) of heart disease and stroke.
10 :
This proves that THE BIBLE is THE WORD OF GOD. GOD is all powerful and knows everything, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
11 :
Lucky guesses. And the fact that much of what is mentioned as bad in Leviticus might well have been responsible for other, more immediate problems without the benefit of refrigeration in those days.
12 :
Refrigeration or the lack thereof my friend. The Bible forbade foods that did not keep well without refrigeration. It is not because of HBP or heart disease that these foods were forbidden but because of food born disease in shellfish and pork.
13 :
Citation please. Why would God make meat that would kill people? Or fats that would kill people? Or bacteria and viruses? He created it all, right? Was it part of his plan to... I can't find a logical reason why a creator would do that

Describe a production function for decreasing deaths from coronary heart disease

Describe a production function for decreasing deaths from coronary heart disease?

Heart Diseases - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Production function??? Just exactly are you referring to. There are many methods available to reduce deaths from "coronary heart disease." This is often referred to as coronary artery disease. It concerns disease of the arteries that provide blood to the heart muscle. This, as opposed to heart disease which can be any malfunction of the heart. To provide you with a meaningful answer your question will have to be made clearer.
2 :
Coronary Artery Disease - Prevention From 1993 to 2003, the death rate from coronary artery disease (CAD) declined by 22% in the United States.3 This decline is attributed to the steps people are taking to prevent coronary artery disease, including lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, changing diet and exercise habits, quitting smoking, and getting improved medical care. Coronary artery disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on the inside of the coronary arteries, the blood vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to heart muscle. You too can take measures to delay the progression and even reverse coronary artery disease. Quitting smoking may be the most important step you can take to prevent coronary artery disease. According to the World Health Organization, after 1 year of not smoking, a person's risk of coronary artery disease decreases by 50%. After 15 years of not smoking, the risk of death due to coronary artery disease is equal to that of someone who has never smoked at all.3 Exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet that is low in saturated fats and rich in fruits and vegetables are also advised. Lifestyle changes * Quit smoking. Quitting smoking may be the most important step you can take to prevent coronary artery disease. Avoid secondhand smoke too. * Control your cholesterol. This can be accomplished with diet, exercise, and medicines, if needed. * Control your blood pressure. Follow the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet-which is designed to reduce high blood pressure with foods rich in potassium, calcium, and phosphorous-increase exercise, decrease alcohol intake, and take medicines, if needed, to control your blood pressure. For more information, see: Tips for following the DASH diet. * Exercise. Exercise has many positive effects: weight management, cholesterol reduction, blood pressure control, blood sugar leveling in diabetes, triglyceride reduction, mood elevation, and increasing strength. Try to do activities that raise your heart rate. Exercise for at least 30 minutes on most, preferably all, days of the week. Talk to your doctor before starting an exercise program. For more information, see: Exercising for a healthy heart. * Relax and reduce stress. Stress can negatively affect your heart in many ways, but you can lower your stress level through talking about your problems and your feelings, exercising, and doing deep breathing, meditation, or yoga. * Manage depression and anger. Treating depression and managing anger are important steps in improving your overall health. * Avoid getting sick from the flu. Get a flu shot every year. General dietary considerations * Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) diet is recommended by the National Cholesterol Education Program of the National Institutes of Health. The diet's main focus is to reduce the amount of saturated fat you eat because it elevates your cholesterol.14 o Nutrient composition of the TLC diet o Tips for success with the TLC diet o Sample menu for the TLC diet * American Heart Association healthy diet guidelines recommend limiting saturated fat and cholesterol intake, increasing fruits and vegetables, and limiting salt and alcohol. http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/tc/coronary-artery-disease-prevention
