Hi, The signs may be difficult to identify and may mimic other conditions. Typically there is pain in the chest with tightness and difficulty in breathing. Sweating, nausea and feeling faint may be other symptoms. The pain may be in the front of the chest or behind the breastbone. From there it may go to the neck or left arm. In severe cases, the patient may look pale due to a fall in blood pressure rapidly leading to death. The doctor takes a detailed medical history, checks the heartbeat and records the blood pressure. An electrocardiogram, ECG, is taken which is record of the electrical activity of the heart. An ECG gives information about the rate at which the heart is beating, whether there are any abnormal rhythm patterns and also if there are areas of the heart muscle that are damaged due to the heart attack. It is important to remember that a normal ECG in the early stages does not exclude the possibility of a heart attack. Blood tests like Troponin T & I CPK estimation are useful in identifying if the heart muscle has been damaged. An X-Ray of the chest may be done. An echocardiogram is a type of scan that gives useful information on the functioning of the heart. Conclusive evidence of blockage in the coronary vessels is provided by the coronary angiogram.
2 :
i agree with doctor mojo. and there are specific diagnosis that your doctor will order for a specific heart disease. ECG is most used when there is an emergency, and as well as if the doctor is suspecting if you had a heart attack

Heart Disease or Clogged arteries

Heart Disease or Clogged arteries?
normally result from eating foods high in cholesterol, fats, sodium, etc, right? But what if a person hardly eats all day and then eats unhealthy foods but still does not exceed the daily amount of fat/cholesterol/sodium? Can this still cause clogged arteries or heart disease even though the person is not exceeding any limits? At the same time, though, it's similar to hardly eating but when they do eat, they eat fast foods or snack-like foods. Can this cause that damage?

dear, fast food/snack-like foods/junk foods/ or what ever u call it, all those are UNhealthy foods. fast foods, to make them readily served, are made up of preservatives, which is also made up of high amounts of sodium, so that the food will be preserved. another is that they are full of fats and cholesterol, especially burgers, lasagnas and the like. Remember, all preserved foods are high in sodium. junk foods are included also in the list. here's the patho physiology: long term intake of foods high in sodium, fats, and cholesterol may cause accumulation of fat deposits on the arterial wall, thus constricting the vessel. constriction of the vessel will result to hypertension. chronic hypertension with atherosclerosis may lead to a more fatal condition, or even death.. so, beware on what ur eating!!! GREEN IS IN! vege would be a great!!
2 :
Yes, if you do not supply your body with the right balances (including anti-oxidants), then with the diet you are following you are encouraging oxidation process, which will have the only results: Clogged arteries, heart disease, cerebrovascular attack or whatever you want

How can stem cell based therapies help a person suffering from heart attack, parkinsons disease and diabetes

How can stem cell based therapies help a person suffering from heart attack, parkinsons disease and diabetes?
type 1 diabetes that is. any help would be great! that did help, thanks!

stem cells are precursor cells, meaning they are not any type of cell yet, but have the potential to become ANY cell in the body. therefore because a person suffering from type 1 diabetes can't make insulin, stem cell therapy can be used to create Beta cells in the Islets of Langerhaan (in the pancreas) which could then produce insulin for the sufferer. heart attack - could be used to create new heart muscle tissue. parkinsons - could be used to create brain cells. (degenerative brain disease). i hope this helps! =]

1 :
It means he will draw a small disability pay of 10% and should have medical benefits.
2 :
He can apply with a VA clinic. He will still have to pay a small co-pay for meds and the like. But they will take care of him.
3 :
He needs to take all of his military paperwork to the VA or a state VSO and get registered with the VA. Even local branches of such vet originations as the VFW,AMVETS,etc, can help

If heart disease affects men and women at equal rates, why does Coke have "The Heart Truth

If heart disease affects men and women at equal rates, why does Coke have "The Heart Truth"?
According to the CDC, heart disease affects men and women at equal rates, but Coca Cola has decided to tailor a Campaign targeting only women. Are feminists outraged at this overt sexism? http://www.dietcoke.com/reddress http://www.cdc.gov/heartDisease/statistics.htm If, as the feminists responding below claim, that women die "many unnecessary deaths" and that they die at "greater rates than men", then why does the CDC say that 51% of heart disease-related deaths are women (when 51% of the population is women)? Capricorn12: Diet ads target women because feminism has reduced the value of women to objects. Whereas men once looked at women as maternal partners for the development of a family, they are now seen as self-oriented employees. So what use is a woman to a man except as a tool for pleasure? Hence the diet fads...To maximize feminine utility. Julie: Those are "death" that I cited, not those "living" with heart disease. Can you please cite evidence that, in 2002, a significant number of post-mordem examinations of women incorrectly determined that something other than heart disease was the cause of death when it really was...Or are you just talking out of your a$$?

For years, heart disease was researched solely from a male's perspective...that is to say, very few studies were done on women and women's heart health. because of this, and the fact that there are many differences between the way a heart attack affects a man and a woman, many more women died due to heart attacks. so that's why you are seeing this drive for women's heart health these days...it's just a change in the way the medical community is looking at gendered medicine EDIT- here's a bit of logic... if heart attacks were misdiagnosed...then...how would the doc's know the woman died of a heart attack? i'm sorry that you're so unaware of the world around you that you can't even be bothered to pay attention to mundane medical news. do you ever read? any thing? any thing other than your own questions here on Y/A? EDITED YET AGAIN- hey, fem, what years, aprox, were women valued for their "motherness" and not seen as objects? because even in the 50's, lifesaver's ads were targeted to young women trying to lose weight.
2 :
Did you know that the symptoms for a heart attack in a man...are nothing like the symptoms in women? Most people dont....Doc's just figured that out a few years ago. Heart attacks in females were and still are misdiagnosed all the time, leading to unnecessary deaths. The truth is men and women are different and our health risks, problems, and solutions are different. In the past they have only "studied" men..and assumed it was the same for women. On average womens "health care" is about ten years behind. We need to catch up.
3 :
I think it's because heart disease has been seen as a man's disease, which is why most women don't take it seriously. The ad is trying to get women to get checked out. Do men see it as sexism that most diet and health food ads are targeted towards women? Side note: Why the hell would Coke, of all companies, be talking about heart health, as if their liquid cocaine in a bottle is healthy??
4 :
Anything that supports females over males will never be argued against by feminists. Above is evidence of that. Instead, they 'justify' it.
5 :
Has it occured to you that Coke's clever marketing department realized that most Coke is purchased by females and therefore supporting this cause might help their sales?
6 :
I just saw a study on this actually... Women are less likely to get appropriate medical treatment for a heart condition or even heart attack...ER's tend to tell them it's indigestion, pat them on the head and send them home.... The ads are part of an educational campaign so that women will know that they are just as likely as a man to have heart disease and to try and dispel the myth among them (and perhaps doctors) that only a 60 year old man can have heart problems

I suggest you to see ----> http://www.all-home-remedies.com it contains very useful of information about many health issues. hope that will help you as well. keep using answers.yahoo.com
2 :
It is okay as long your heart is in a good condition. You need to ask your cardiologist about that Post your questions in: http://med50.blogspot.com/2010/04/patient-education-program.html
3 :
The fact that you are pregnant means that your body will have to work harder to grow and support a baby. You should consult your GP as soon as possible and get an appointment to talk with whoever is looking after your heart condition. You will need careful monitoring and medical support if you want to continue with this pregnancy. Your doctors will be able to explain how this may affect you, whether there are significant risks to you or your baby and what options are available to you. Good luck, do get expert advice ASAP though
