Is it true that having a constant tonsillitis will lead to heart disease

Is it true that having a constant tonsillitis will lead to heart disease?

I have heard that about gum disease but not tonsillitis. I have heard that tonsillitis all the time can cause some problem in growth but Im not sure how true that can be. Nowadays doctors are quick to remove the tonsils if there are always problems.
2 :
never but neglecting the inflammation of tonsils may cause some problems if the if the total vocal area is infected then the infection may leads heart veins but its very very rare but preventions is better than cure always.
3 :
If you mean strep throat, it can if not treated, effect your heart valves and other organs. As for (non-strep) tonsillitis, I'm not sure.
4 :
streptococcal infections, if untreated, can in rare cases cause rheumatic fever, with damage to the heart valves

Is this a heart disease or condition

Is this a heart disease or condition?
Sometimes, when I move too much (for example, 6 hours of basketball camp that i did) my heart pounds a lot harder, and faster, as in i can literally feel a large increase on how hard its pounding, and i feel a lot weaker, i start seeing stars, and it normally takes like 10 minutes for me to like calm down and for my heart to go back to a normal rate. Do i have a heart problem? Or am i just overdoing it?

A doctor can check heart sounds by listening with a stethoscope over the surface of the chest. An echocardiogram can find the exact cause of the murmur. The heart has four chambers: two upper chambers (atria) and two lower chambers (ventricles). The heart has valves that close with each heart beat, causing blood to flow in only one direction. The valves are located between the atria and ventricles, and between the ventricles and the major vessels from the heart. Normal heart sounds are called S1 and S2. They are the "lubb-dupp" sounds that are thought of as the heartbeat. These sounds occur when the heart valves close. Normally, there is no sound when the heart valve opens. In a person with congenital heart disease or heart valve disease, a "click" sound may be heard during a physical exam. Because the heart is also divided into a "right side" and a "left side," sometimes these sounds may be divided. Most commonly noted is a "split S2." This is caused when the right and left ventricles relax and the valves close at slightly different times. It is normal. But occasionally, the split can be a sign of an abnormality, such as enlargement of one of the ventricles or narrowing of a valve. Murmurs occur when a valve does not close tightly (such as with mitral regurgitation) and blood leaks backward. They also can occur when the blood flows through a narrowed or stiff valve (such as with aortic stenosis). The health care provider can often identify the valve involved and whether you have regurgitation or stenosis during the exam. The location, quality, and timing of the murmur are all important. The doctor may ask you to squat, stand, or hold your breath while bearing down or gripping something with your hands to listen to your heart. A murmur does not necessarily mean that you have a disease or disorder, and not all heart disorders cause murmurs. Murmurs are classified ("graded") depending on their ability to be heard by the examiner. The grading is on a scale. Grade I can barely be heard. An example of a murmur description is a "grade II/VI murmur." (This means the murmur is grade 2 on a scale of 1 - 6). In addition, a murmur is described by the stage of the heartbeat when the murmur is heard. When a murmur is more prominent, the doctor may be able to feel it with the palm of the hand over the heart. The following are important clues to the cause of the murmur: Does the murmur occur in the resting stage (diastole) or contracting stage (systole)? Does it occur early or late in the stage? Does it occur throughout the heartbeat? Does it change when the doctor uses physical maneuvers? Can the murmur be heard in other parts of the chest? For example, a presystolic murmur is heard just BEFORE systole. It is usually caused by narrowing of the mitral or tricuspid valve (the valves between the atria and the ventricles)

most likely yes since it is hereditary. talk to your doctor asap, he will know much more
2 :
Visit you doctor and have him run some test thats the only way you will know for sure
3 :
the simplest thing to do is check things out at the cardiologist. it may be inherited genetically (like breast cancer in my family --my mom died of it too), but try to take notice of things that may cause this. did they smoke? were they obese? etc.
4 :
You have a family history of CHD and heart problems. That there increases your risk of a heart attack and CHD. I don't wish to scare you, but you are more likely to have inherited this trait than say a person whose family did not have a history of CHD. Eat healthy. Exercise. Stay away from fatty foods. Get blood drawn regularly to keep tabs on your LDL/HDL cholesterol, triglycerides and the like. Monitor your blood pressure. I would think a medical student would know this basic information. Are you a first year?
5 :
Go to your Dr and mention your concerns. I also have a history of heart disease in my family . He started out asking questions about my smoking , weight and other things. then he gave me a stress test and an EKG . As a precaution I also had an angiogram done. My sister had 4 major blockages but I had 2 minor ones which put my mind at ease. But I am taking cholesterol drugs and taking aspirin therapy and exercising and eating better. Get to the Dr instead of asking on here. It will make you feel better. Good Luck........................................................KB
6 :
please be very careful in the study of your heart. i had two bypasses in the past 8 years. since your family has a history of heart trouble you need to understand what kind of heart trouble your family has. please don't give up

cardiovascular- I guess it distributes blood and oxygen throughout your body.
2 :
Heart disease is a group of diseases pertaining to heart attack, coronary arteries, heart muscle disease, heart failure, blood vessels (hardened arteries), inflammatory heart disease, valvular heart disease, high blood pressure, disturbed heart rhythm and congenital heart defects. Heart attack- Cardiac muscle will die due to the blockage of coronary arteries. Coronary artery- A diet rich in saturated fat may cause atherosclerosis and this may result in heart attack. Heart muscle disease- Primary cardiomyopathy has no specific causes, unlike secondary cardiomyopathy which may be caused by hypertension, heart valve disease, artery diseases or congenital heart defects. Heart failure- Inability of heart muscle to pump sufficient blood as demanded by the body tissues. Inflammatory heart disease- Inflammation if the heart due to viral, bacterial infections. Valvular heart disease-Rheumatic fever is the main cause. In old age, the valve wears and become thicker. High blood pressure- The heart becomes enlarged and hypertrophied. Arrhythmia (disturbed heart rhythm) -This may cause heart attack, stroke or acute renal failure. Congenital heart defect- If the heart defect is not surgically treated it may cause heart palpitations, shortness of breadth, stunted growth, heart failure or heart attack

Angina pectoris (chest pain) is explained in detail on this page: http://www.smart-heart-living.com/chest-pain.html It sounds as though you will be at risk simply because of genetics. However, by living a heart healthy lifestyle you will be in a much better position to deal with it than if you are unhealthy. So follow the advice on the website for heart smart living including diet, exercise, body weight, stress reduction and not smoking (there are links to all these topics). This will stand you in good stead in the future. Also, healthy body weight includes not being over or under weight... both of which are hard on your heart. I hope this helps... good luck!
2 :
Angina really isn't anything major. Don't get too excited over it. Really. You'll be fine

Is murmur,a kind of heart disease curable

Is murmur,a kind of heart disease curable?
my boyfriend had a hole in his heart,it was inborn..what we found out is that he have a disease call murmur i just wanna know whether it is curable..and if it is incurable, how much time will he left?..he is only 17..thanks..

1 :
No, murmur is not curable. He's only got about 65-70 more years left to live (unless, of course, he's from a family of centurians). A heart murmur isn't ANYWHERE near as bad as say, having high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Now, he shouldn't try participating in any sports, unless he's been physically active his entire life. But he'll live to be a ripe old age.
2 :
most are not ,they are small holes near the valves that leak blood to other valves so that it gives the heart a irregular beat. if caught when young, surgery may be performed.
3 :
no its not cureable nearly everyone has a murmur to some extent it really depends on how bad it is some people with a bad murmur will live to be old and grey but most of the time its not a huge deal
4 :
a murmur is a clinical finding, it can be heard with the help of a stethoscope. some are innocent ,some are pathological. if there is a hole in the heart, depends where the site would be, most of the time the hole closes in time, some remains patent. to have a definitive diagnosis, its better to have a cardiologist check him.
5 :
hey the disease is not called a murmur. Murmur is a clinical finding heard by the doctors sthetoscope It needs to be found out why he has a murmur, but not all murmurs are ominous for eg, some healthy but thin chap can have a murmur just because of the shape of his ribcage, but to say so other diseases of the heart have to be ruled out see ur cardiologist and he may rpescribe a test called echocardiography
6 :
Heart murmors are quite common. It does not mean that there is anything wrong with the heart. If your boyfriends Doctor is just telling you that he has a heart murmor then I wouldn't worry about it. If his Doctor felt that it is more then a murmor then he would have had extra test done on him. There are lots of people that have Heart Murmors. If you's are worried, don't be afraid to ask your Doctor any questions that is what he is there for to HELP

Would FDA Regulations of tobacco products help reduce smoking, a major risk factor for heart disease

Would FDA Regulations of tobacco products help reduce smoking, a major risk factor for heart disease?

Law & Ethics - 1 Answers

They are already regulated, covered in warnings of portending death and disease, and are all taxed seperately from other commodities. The ATF(U.S. bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firerarms) enforces laws reguarding the taxing+shipping of cigarettes. Illegal tobaccco can be just as serious as illegal narcotics by law, or anything, for that matter, especially imports. What I'm going to say is going to make some people very angry,so be warned.... There is not a shred of proof that smoking anything increases the risk of heart disease. Stress is the number one factor in all studies, followed by a diet high in meat and low in green vegetables. Now... I'm not saying smoking your vegetables is good for you. Of course if you inhale or injest anything foreign to the body for a long enough time in large amount, disease will result. Cancer is actually a genetic based immune response to toxins, cancer cells feed on toxins, that is how chemotherapy works, the poison is pumped into your veins, the cancer cells eat the poison, and die. One family member of mine smoked for 70 years, she is still alive and only has a pacemaker. So does my father, and he never smoked cigarettes. Additionally,My Grandmother on my Mothers side died of cardiac arrest...She did Not Smoke! Furthermore, two of ten people,5 male,5 female, the two youngest ones died first,1 male,1 female...They were my aunt and uncle. Neither of them smoked. My Grandfather died of heart attack. He never smoked! Now as far as the rest of my family and extended family and friends,a good hundred people at least...no one who smokes has died. One man has a small cancer of the lung in remission, now, look at this,He smoked cigars daily since he was 5 years old. Certainly not average. By now I'm sure my point is clear enough to people who want to know the facts, smoking and stress are related, people smoke to releive stress, but now here is the paradox:Stress is proven to kill people on average 35-40 years sooner than smoking with no stress. That's where the studies were flawed. They corrolated tobacco with diseases without doing research that show the difference between high-stress nonsmokers and nonsmokers against low stress smokers and nonsmokers. Probably because people dont smoke if they arent understress, and likely that people with more stress than average die too fast to be found. I really dont want to sound condescending, I do realize that most of this goes against what most people already know. The problem is they know the labels, commercials, warnings, and propaganda, but they have missed out on the facts. The facts have been hidden from scientists, and now deliberately by scientists who work with the FDA to create new more expensive methods of nicotene delivery and Quit smoking drug systems. They, the FDA with Gov't backing can make four times as much on that than tobacco, penny for penny. All the politicians are also major hareholders with pharm. companies by the way. If you cut out the farmer, you can then employ a hundred people who can each turn as high a prophet per year as a single farmer could in one fourth a year. They come out with a new drug every month. I dont want to make it too complicated, but i really wanted to answer that question because the facts are hidden, and the people who run these anti-smoking campaigns are arrogant to think that the average citizen is going to beleive anything they say, that is to say if they cae at all.People wanna smoke, theyre gonna smoke. The FDA, by the way, is calling vitamins a health hazard now. Go figure. As for a deterrent.No. It didnt work for alcohol in prohibition. It isnt working for narcotics and illegal drugs. It doesnt work for anything. All government regulations do is force people to do thier dirty deeds in secret,on the black market, and away from gov'ts nosey persistant prying eyes. If you want to regulate tobacco, you're going to have to instate Chinese Republican Army type laws. The threat of being shot on site might deterr people. On the other hand, most people eventually die of something. The FDA is a scam,an organized crime system, and a terrorist organization,as far as threatening death for smoking. I hope I dont get shot for saying that. Thankyou for reading
