we have that in my family we have had a few bypass surgeries with uncles, (all in their 50's) the doctor said that they need to make sure they maintain a healthy weight, don't eat foods with (much) saturated fats, salts, etc.. make sure you have your blood pressure under control and keep check of your cholesterol, you should go get a test! my dad (who also has chd) also takes asprin every day to keep his blood thin talk to your doctor, he can give you a book of what sort of diet. exercies / possible preventitive medicines you can take
2 :
Various factors. lifestyle. If you smoke...Stop! Exercise. Helps keep your heart muscle strong. Blood Pressure. Have it checked Cholesterol. have it checked Diet. Avoid saturated fat. That's what blocks arteries. Family History. Unfortunately you can't do anything about that, but by looking after your body, you can educe the risk immeasurably.

To avoid coronary heart disease = maintain coronary artery health. There maybe genetic factors that limit the number of beats a hart can make but if you work on maintaining blood supply to the muscle you could last forever. Blockages in the coronary arteries restrict blood flow to the hart muscle and some of it can die and if enough of your hart is not functioning well your in trouble. Anything that gets pumped up into your brain causes the brain to go into spasm and blockages in the brains blood flow cause brain death. I don't like preach a little aspirin everyday is supposed to be good.
4 :
CHD. Outside of hereditary factor, from the age of 25 we start to loose collagen and that is what keeps our cardiovascular system supple. Therefore CHD cannot be avoided but we can try to prolong the heart, keep arteries open. No smoking, plenty of cardiovascular exercise, avoid saturated fats and take omega three or fish oils. Eskimos do not have CHD, they eat fish!

CAD is a condition of the heart when one or more of the following happen: i) blockages in the lining of the blood vessels causes reduced/ristricted blood flow to the cardiac muscles, leading to the stress or death of the tissue, impairing the heart functioning ii) wear and tear of the blood vessels leading to impaired blood flow, choked vessels iii) poor muscular functioning and coordination due to lack of blood supply and muscular fatigue. iv) lack of blood supply due to a free floating clot that jamms the flow. v) swelling by inflamation of the blood vessels due to acids and disease .... and other reasons. Apart from the fact that proper diet, digestion, exercise need to be done to avoid.. you should know the root reason of blockage formation. LDL that is regarded as the reason of the blockages does not do it alone.... it combines with free radicles to form foam deposits. On its own, LDL is a pain, but passess on. It is MORE necessary to make sure the oxidative free radicles in the blood are controlled and digested to avoid this. Wear and tear is a natural process, the body is capable of self repair. Things go wrong when the acid content in the blood shoots up due to fatigue, stress, emotional imbalances... So, keeping a positive attitude, stress free nature is equally important. If you can make dietary changes immediately, it is possible to reverse the acid charge of the blood, dissolve the extra LDL, digest the free radicles to avoid CAD and help self repair of the heart. In case you are looking for a good, scientifically tested ayurvedic option to treat or avoid CAD, take Suved. More info on www.helthsolns.com

The major risk factors for CHD include: age (65+), gender (male), hereditary (including race), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, physical inactivity, obesity, smoking, and diabetes. Some of them can be modified, treated or controlled, and some can't. The more risk factors you have, the greater your chance of developing coronary heart disease. Also, the greater the level of each risk factor, the greater the risk. For example, a person with a total cholesterol of 300 mg/dL has a greater risk than someone with a total cholesterol of 245 mg/dL, even though everyone with a total cholesterol greater than 240 is considered high-risk. In general, exercise and a healthy diet will help you avoid CHD. See the American Heart Association website for more information

i came out of the Marines with a heart disease do i qualify for disability

i came out of the Marines with a heart disease do i qualify for disability?
i served in iraq for 21 months never had a heart problem before. I never reported it my medical files cause i was unaware until i got out and went to the va for a check up a month after i got out and thats when they found it.

If you would have found out during boot camp, then you would most likely not qualify... but because you served over a year in iraq and did your duty for your country, you should qualify. If you don't I would fight it. Thank you for your service.
2 :
If the heart disease was not documented in you USMC Medical records, YOU will have a hard time proving your claim to the VA! It might be congenital defect/disease but, MEPS didn't find it when you enlisted! All you can do at this point is to submit your claim to the VA!
3 :
Apply for disability, couldn't hurt.
4 :
Ask them to medically board you out of the service just not a discharge. Then you should get a disability rating from the Marines. When you go to register for the VA you should also get a disability.rating from the VA. Most of the time they will match. This will determine how much disability you will be getting. The VA will give you all the paperwork. Please give it time.
5 :
How long have you been seperated? If it is less than a year or even less than 6 months you would have a much easier time proving that it existed in the military. Don't wait. File a claim today. If the VA found it a month after then you really should file soon. The sooner the better. I put a link where you can find health care eligibility requirements. You most likely can still enroll for medical care. I am not a claims person nor am I an expert. All you can do is re-submit your claim and see what happens. Try visiting a Veterans Service Organization. They have people who will represent you and are very well schooled in the process. The service is free and you owe it to yourself to check them out. You can find them through the VA or you can contact the DAV or VFW and see how to start the process

I don't know if this is considered Heart Disease

I don't know if this is considered Heart Disease?
I'm 12. I was diagnosed with ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) in May 2009. It's a hole in my heart that blood passes through the hole between the left and right chamber of my heart. I had open heart surgery July 27, 2009 to patch it up and fix it. I would have died years from now if I didn't get this done, but I'm perfectly healthy now. I was just wondering if this was considered heart disease. Please only answer if you know the real answer. Thanks!

Hey it depends which one. The combined oral contraceptive pill is definitely a big no no! for high blood pressure. But the progesterone only pill is much safer for women with high blood pressure. If you want more info, you can always ask your pharmacist/nurse/doc , or check it up yourself

Does using the birth control patch increase my risk for heart disease

Does using the birth control patch increase my risk for heart disease?

Any type of birth control makes women more prone to thrombotic diseases, these are blood clots that form most commonly in the legs and then they may travel to your lungs (principal site), or your heart or even your brain. Of course the odds are low, but you should be careful if you have any associated condion like: previous clots, a positive family history, you're over 40, you smoke cigarrettes, you have high blood preasure... Check with your doctor before using any type of hormonal birth control.
2 :
If you are over 35 years of age and you smoke it can cause problems for your heart.Do you still have the packaging of your birth control patches? There should be an insert that has warnings and side effects printed out for you. Or,you can ask your pharmacist for the information

Some of those could be heart problem symptoms and some not. You have something going on that really needs to be checked out. How is your blood pressure? Is it too low or too high? Do you eat well or are you dieting? Are you under wt?Have you been tested for diabetes? My advise is to make an appt. with your primary MD and after blood tests and urine tests they may want to do a stress test and maybe other tests. Have a full workup to find out what the problems are. Best of luck!
2 :
same here, i was diagnosed with stress/anxiety, iron deficiency anemia and then thyroid disease, now i take a very low dose med. and feel better. good luck!
3 :
HAVE YOU SEEN A PHYSICIAN FOR THIS? IT MAY BE AN ANXIETY DISORDER RATHER THAN HEART DISEASE.
4 :
Excess anxiety can also release fight or flight chemicals, which are hard on arteries, and overtime can lead to blockages. Eat a heart healthy diet, and see a doctor. If they say its nothing, you can still try a cardiac rehab routine to see if you feel better in a few months.
5 :
Eat less animal fat, like cheese, eggs & meat. Don't eat before bed

What are some of the costs to society as a result of the high rates of cancer and heart disease in the United

What are some of the costs to society as a result of the high rates of cancer and heart disease in the United?

Cancer and heart disease are prevalent around the world, not just in the United States. Both conditions are linked to the aging process, as most cancer and heart disease cases emerge after age 60. Everyone eventually dies of something, it is inevitable. The great concern is with PREMATURE death from these causes. Persons under age 60 who develop cancer and heart disease are the real issue. Medical costs in the United States are primarily driven by America's chaotic legal and health insurance systems. At least 80% of every dollar spent on health care in America is eventually going to attorneys, litigation settlements, malpractice insurance, patent protection, pharmacy company profits, medical billing services, insurance companies, and ancillary office services. Patients receive very little benefit from the American health care system, it is really just a huge business employing millions of people and making profits for companies
