Did you know 50% of women will die of heart disease

Did you know 50% of women will die of heart disease?
I saw Oprah's show on this and Im'm in shock!! Are you taking care of your healñth? What is the number one killer of women in America? Breast cancer? Car accidents? In the past 12 months, more women—494,000, to be exact—were killed by cardiovascular disease than by any other cause. In fact, more women will die from cardiovascular disease than from the next six causes combined. Cardiovascular disease is a wide-ranging problem. "It's the rusting of our arteries," explains renowned surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz. "Literally, the tubes that carry nourishment to our different organs are rotting from the inside. And that's not just about dying from heart attacks and strokes. It's about kidney failure and loss of quality of life."

hypertensive heart disease - hypertensive heart disease causes

It is probably not appropriate to ask what hypertensive heart disease causes, as hypertensive heart disease is damage to the heart caused by hypertension. Thus, the sequence of events is hypertension, progressing to damage to the heart, after which there are many possibilities of further harm. Perhaps the most common forms of hypertensive heart disease are left ventricular (the main pumping chamber of the heart) hypertrophy (increase in muscle mass) and left ventricular dilatation (enlargement of the chamber size most often along with 'thinning' of the muscle wall). Hypertrophy may initially be compensatory, meaning that the heart will be able to maintain its output despite the pressure gradient that it pumps against. Unfortunately, all compensatory changes are designed as a short-term 'fix', and all eventually lead to further damage. This is where the dilatation fits in. A dilated left ventricle has a weakened muscle wall and does not eject blood as efficiently. This is systolic heart failure. Although I am fond of the term heart 'failure', I do not have a better term to offer. Perhaps you may think of it as the heart failing to pump enough blood to nourish the body's organs and tissues. In 1980, a diagnosis of heart failure foretold a five year mortality of 95%, but at this time, the diagnosis suggests a five year survival of 85 to 95% depending upon many co-morbid conditions. As you did not provide much information as to why you were asking the question, I am only able to provide a partial answer. If you need additional information please email me more details at johnerussomd@jhu.edu. I wish you the very best of health and may God bless.

Actually sounds like the signs of low blood pressure. Have you considered that it may be related to anxiety?
2 :
the increase could be caused by many things...even something like a pain killer with caffeine in it. sounds like low blood pressure for the dizzyness. get your mum to go to the docs.......it could be be nothing but get the doc to check her heart and make sure you tell her about the coldness at the same time. it's important to mention that the symptoms occurred at the same time. good luck

What foods will help prevent heart disease?? and are good for you

What foods will help prevent heart disease?? and are good for you?

Fruits, veggies, whole grains, foods with omega 3 fats... (avocado, nuts such as walnuts & almonds, fish, flax seed oil) Also, very important to avoid saturated fat like the plague (found in animal products)... basically eat whole non processed foods, no lab engineered fats like partially hydrogenated oils (a.k.a. trans fats). Olive oil and canola oil are examples of unsaturated fats and are therefore ok to have. I personally like to start off each day with plain oatmeal, with crushed walnuts, cinnamon, and a little vanilla soy milk. Really good tasting and heart healthy

How does aspirin stop heart disease

How does aspirin stop heart disease?

asaprin doesn't stop heart disease what it does it thins the blood, preventing strokes and heart attacks when these vessels are narrowed by diesase/ plague

asprin thins the blood.

Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation... this is important because the plaque which lines the vessels of a diseased heart acts like a sticky fishnet... catching all the platelets which pass by. Platelets are the cells of the blood which make clots. Clots are usually helpful to prevent us from bleeding when we are wounded or cut. However, clots are very dangerous to a diseased heart because they can block off vital blood supply to the heart muscle. Remember that your heart needs blood to survive just as the rest of your body does. So as platelets pass by this sticky fishnet plaque substance, called Atherosclerosis, causes narrowing and hardening of the arteries. This makes it difficult for the blood to pass through... leading to a sudden blockage from a clot. This is when we then can have a fatal heart attack. Because the blood can not get to the heart muscle, part of the heart dies when we have a heart attack. Because Aspirin helps to prevent platelets from "sticking", it helps keep those narrow arteries open so that blood can pass thru... thereby preventing heart attack and strokes.

do you think Cancer, Heart Disease and other ailments can come on you from your inner thoughts

do you think Cancer, Heart Disease and other ailments can come on you from your inner thoughts?
I need your thoughts on this, any books would be nice...

I tend to think it's mostly from heredity, lifestyle and environment from my past experience.
2 :
No, I do not. It would make absolutely no sense from a scientific standpoint. If you choose to believe it anyway, then reality has escaped you.
3 :
I think much of it is diet related but I do feel there is a holistic connection..we know that extreme stress causes ones health to break down..if one has a number of stressful events within a year or two, within two years, one can develop a deadly disease, studies show. also cancer is somethings connected with people who hold in their feelings and so forth..anger is said to be bad for one's blood pressure I did once read a book that her theory was we do not gain weight from food but from negative thinking..it was quite interesting but I have since forgotten the title Many know believe in the secret and quantum physics..(ie--the law of attraction..what we think and especially feel comes back to us via negative and positive ions..think negative and attract negative..feel positive and attract positive events. There may well be something to this but one cannot deny that lifestyle and diet are also major factors..heredity also pays a part but with an excellent lifestyle/diet one can overcome genetic weaknesses

What are signs that you have a heart disease

What are signs that you have a heart disease?
I'm starting to get chest pains more often pazvanty - Yeah. I've been feeling the pain in the left side of my chest. Kind of like, on the very bottom of my left breast.

Chest pains can be caused by anxiety attacks as well. Usually when your heart hurts you don't feel the pain in the middle of your chest like they show it in the movies. It's more to your left side and the most painful point is usually felt on the inner part between your body and left arm. Also, a good sign of heart disease is getting your left arm numb lots of times. If any of these sound familiar, go see a doctor as soon as u can.
2 :
Hi 100% proud LESBIAN, You should undergo Cardiac stress test in an hospital. If you feel chest pain during the test, then you have got coronary artery disease. Please also check for your cholesterol profile (LDL, HDL, Serum cholesterol and Triglyceride).

Hello, here are some signs of heart disease,if you have them you should def visit the doctor,my mom has heart poblems and is hard to deal with it,is better knowing what you have instead of waiting till is too late.Hope you are fine and get well soon. Cheers. PS: Here is a link where you can find more info. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/aha/aha_warning_sha.htm Chest pain (angina) : Angina is pain, tightness, or pressure in your chest. It happens when your heart muscles are not getting enough oxygen. The symptoms of angina may vary from person to person. Shortness of breath: Shortness of breath is the most common symptom of heart failure. Heart failure occurs when the heart muscle is unable to ("fails to") pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. The blood begins to back up because the heart is not pumping well. The veins, tissues, and lungs become congested with fluid. This can make it hard for you to breathe. Swelling (edema) in the legs and feet : Many people have leg swelling from causes other than heart disease. However, the collection of fluid in your legs can be a warning sign of heart problems. This is especially true if you have other symptoms, such as shortness of breath. You may have swelling in your abdomen, too. Tell your health care provider if your legs, ankles, or feet have become swollen. Pain in the legs with walking (claudication) : Pain that occurs in the calf muscles when you walk can be a sign of heart and blood vessel disease. This type of pain happens only with activity and stops a minute or two after you stop the activity. It occurs when your muscles are not getting enough oxygen because of blocked arteries. Blocked leg arteries may mean there are also blockages in the heart (coronary) arteries. High blood pressure and high blood cholesterol: High blood pressure and high blood cholesterol are both warning signs of possible heart problems. You usually cannot tell if you have high blood pressure or high blood cholesterol without measuring your blood pressure or testing your blood.

Confucius says, Never ignore such symptoms, as death comes unexpectedly and swiftly. Confucius ignored the symptoms. He was very lucky an ambulance was near by. It took three zaps of the jolter to revive him. Confucius says, be kind to yourself. See a doctor
