Mitral valve prolapse can be caused by heart disease--more specifically valvular heart disease. It can also be a congenital birth defect though

The human heart has two circuits. One pumps blood into the whole body except the lungs. The other pumps blood just into the lungs. If there is weakness in the circuit that supplies the body, then the heart pumps harder to compensate and then the lungs get over pressurized with too much blood. That is called pulmonary hypertension. The lungs then tend to get filled with fluid and breathing is impaired. There are other heart diseases that affect breathing, but pulmonary hypertension is the most direct problem the heart can cause.

This sounds like Precordial Catch Syndrome. And its not dangerous if its PCS. If you are still worried, do look for a doctor! However, stay optimistic and don't be too stress!!! Cheers!!

Is adult Heart Disease truly a preventable condition? How do you prevent it

Is adult Heart Disease truly a preventable condition? How do you prevent it?

Not entirely. The only thing you can do is lower your risk by eliminating the risk factors that are within your control. A few things: quit smoking (or don't start) eat a proper diet maintain a healthy weight exercise regularly drink in moderation monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol manage your stress level
2 :
Most adults suffer from coronary artery disease (CAD) due to sedentary life style and diseases like diabetes and hypertension. Prevention of CAD involves modifying atherosclerosis risk factors smoking cessation, weight loss, a healthful diet, regular exercise, modification of serum lipids, and control of hypertension and diabetes. Antihypertensives should be used to achieve a goal blood pressure of < 130/80 mm Hg. Modification of serum lipids (particularly with statins) may slow or even partially reverse the progression of CAD. LDL targets are < 100 mg/dL (< 2.59 mmol/L) for those with known CAD or 70 to 80 mg/dL (1.81 to 2.07 mmol/L) for those with a history of ischemic event. Nicotinic acid or a fibrate should be added for those with an HDL < 40 mg/dL (< 1.03 mmol/L).
3 :
Eat fish, bread, drink little red wine, walking and fasting sometime. That's what I remember from the bible.
4 :
The risk factors for Heart Disease are: Blood Pressure Diabetes Smoking High Cholesterol Obesity Genetics The ones you can control are: Obesity, which will affect Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol Smoking. You cannot control Genetics, which can also affect Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Cholesterol. In other words, eat healthy and exercise. This will help you control what you can and deal with what you can't control

African American have higher rates of hypertension, heart disease, and stroke than do whites in the U.S..Is thi?
Is this difference likely to be biological? How could you test your hypothesis?

How could you test your hypothesis...? Well, you would conduct major scientific studies with large control groups followed over time. Oh, wait. That's already been done. Several times. And the answers are still inconclusive.
2 :
Add to that kidney failure as well----I frequently read my patients medical histories when I worked as a hemodialysis nurse and found a large number of our black patients had a history of alcohol and or substance abuse.-----this of course is not a scientific study as I only worked in that area for about 8 months before moving to intensive care

Aspirin? What is the recommended preventative dose for stroke and heart disease for a middle-aged man

Aspirin? What is the recommended preventative dose for stroke and heart disease for a middle-aged man?

either two baby aspirins, or three quarters of a bayer, I think they have one that is called low dose, daily aspirin, check it out, I believe it must be at or about 80mgs,,, dont take my word for it, but I really do believe i saw the type just for daily preventative dosage...
2 :
A doctor may recommend different amounts based on your specific risk factors, but most doses range from 81mg (one baby aspirin) to 325mg (one adult aspirin). Your doctor can give you a better idea of what dose would be appropriate for your specific situation.
3 :
80mg per day
4 :
I think it is inappropriate to ask these questions. You life is at risk and You should be visiting a doctor. Yahoo friends may give you an answer in good faith - but, if it does not work, you are in trouble
5 :
Low dose ASA 81 mg
6 :
I can answer that question for you as a physician. The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association just updated the recommendations THIS YEAR. For the purposes of preventing a stroke or heart attack, the recommended dose of aspirin is between 75 and 162 mg/day, down from the previous guide of 75 to 325 mg/day. (A baby aspirin contains 81 mg and an adult aspirin contains 325 mg, so the recommendation calls for 1 to 2 baby aspirin a day.) This change is because all of our research suggests that the lower dose of aspirin is AS EFFECTIVE in reducing strokes and heart attacks as the higher dose and is LESS LIKELY to lead to serious bleeding. Having said that, you should consult your physician before starting any medications such as aspirin. For people with a history of ulcers or bleeding, aspirin may not be recommended OR may need to be started in conjunction with another medication to prevent bad side effects.
