Why do people with congenital heart disease have to take antibiotics before any dental procedure, or surgery

Why do people with congenital heart disease have to take antibiotics before any dental procedure, or surgery?
or do things like....... Call your doctor if you have symptoms of an infection (sore throat, general body aches, fever). Take good care of your teeth and gums to prevent infections. See your dentist for regular visits. Take antibiotics before you undergo any procedure that may cause bleeding, such as: any dental work (even a basic teeth cleaning), invasive tests (any test that may involve blood or bleeding), and most major or minor surgery. please explain fully

this is a preventative measure, just in case the slim chance of getting an infection comes true, the infection cannot move to the heart and be very serious and/or fatal.
2 :
People with heart problems...especially heart disease are more prone to infections.
3 :
All these situations can cause spillage of bacteria into the blood stream. Through the blood stream it may reach to damaged heart structures and lodge there. If bacteria multiply in damaged heart structures, it leads an infection of the heart which needs prolonged antibiotic treatment. This can be prevented to a certain extent by the precautions which you mentioned

The symptoms of heart disease aren't that easy because heart disease can occur over a lifetime. But symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, angina, hypertension (high blood pressure), waking up in middle of the night, heart palpation's (heart pounding), headaches, and nausea. Some things that predispose you to heart disease are genetics, smoking, obesity, and high fat diets. Hope this helps good luck.
3 :
Chest pain with or without undue perspiration, breathlessness, giddiness, edema. Can be totally without symptoms also.
4 :
there are numerous possible symptoms, all of which can occur with other ailments. If you suspect heart disease, the only way to be sure is to have a cardiologist run some tests to get an accurate diagnosis

There are a lot of different types of heart disease. People who are busy all the time often suffer from high blood pressure and they may risk blockages of the arteries. Emotions of irritability and ongoing anger are danger signs because they make the body work harder and that means more activity in the arteries. when that happens there is more damage to the arterial walls and ongoing repairs are the result, which means more and more material can pile up at damage sites. Resolve issues and get rid of the anger. Issues means there are people causing you problems. The other thing to do is to meditate regularly. Meditation helps bring the body back to rest and that facilitates any 'housework' that the body needs to do such as repairing damaged tissues. Another type of heart problems that are common has to do with the electrical stimulus and the heart muscle's ability to contract properly. If there is anxiety (mixed fear and worry) present then the body will get mixed signals because fear tells the heart to go fast and worry, which requires rest and reflective thinking to solve a problem, tells the heart to go slow. So with anxiety the heart gets signals to go fast and slow at the same time or in an alternating pattern and that affects the heart muscle and the heart's pumping ability. Again resolve the issue. However if you can't then allow the fear without worry. This will stop the anxiety. Anxiety is an indicator that you have hidden enemies and they are hidden because they present themselves as friends in order to get close to you. Toxic people get a kick out of hurting others. It is also done by manipulative, controlling people as a means of gaining power and influence over another person because while the person experiences health problems the manipulative person gets to make all decisions especially in a relationship. This is a virulent new form of domestic violence that is still little known but it affects a large number of women. The person they hurt would dump them if they knew the truth so they appear friendly to lull their victim into a false sense of security and to make them trust them. Meditation is also good here too because it helps the breathing reach a subtle and rhythmic rate and that helps the heart and the lungs.

You can't prevent. You can only lower your likeliness . The whole cholesterol thing is complete crap

Heart problems caused by narrowed coronary arteries. This could include coronary artery disease and lead to a heart attack. It could also lead to dysrhythmias (atrial fib, etc) because certain coronary arteries feed the sinoatrial (SA) node, the pacemaker of the heart and the AV node, that also acts as a conducter when the SA node fails. 2 tests to diagnose it are a stress test and wearing a Holter monitor that records EKG readings continuously. http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4720 Cardiac diet, cardiac rehab program (especially after heart attack and stroke), patient education regarding how to recognize symptoms and how to act when they have them, to get cholesterol checked. Also when a patient carries around nitroglycerin tabs, they should know that the bottle expires 6 months from the time they've opened it, not the date on the bottle, which is the primary reason of the failure of nitroglycerin to relieve chest pain (ischemia).

diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, smoking, low actvity , and the risk increases for those with relatives who had a previous encounter with his disease. men also have a higher risk and it increases with age. precautions: control of cholesterol levels in those with known high cholesterol, smoking cessation, control of high blood pressure.and maintaining a healthy lifestyle

From your yahoo id - I am making an assumption that you are of South Asian origin. People of South Asia have some of highest rates of diabetes and heart disease. We have some unique factors such as genetics and lifestyle that may be responsible for these high rates. In addition to checking your cholesterol levels: HDL (good), LDL (bad) cholesterol - your cardiologist may also check your Lipoprotein(a) levels. Please check out the website www.cadiresearch.com Best wishes

What are three risk factors of heart disease that cannot be changed

A genetic condition called homocystinuria (high homocystiene levels from birth) causes heart attacks in children. Children as young as 2 months have plaque build up in the arteries with this genetic condition. High homocysteine levels, which causes inflammation, is the main factor of heart disease. Forget the cholesterol myth..that is to sell drugs. "Unlike cholesterol which is required for life, the presence of homocysteine is an indication that there's a problem. The lower your homocysteine level, the lower your risk of developing heart disease. Your homocysteine level, NOT your cholesterol level, is the one you want to watch, and you want to watch it carefully, especially if other factors put you at higher risk of heart disease, such as incidence of heart attacks among your relatives, smoking, or previous detection of cardiovascular problems. If your homocysteine level is higher than 12, you need to act quickly to lower it. You're in danger!" http://cholesterolisgood.blogspot.com/

Can someone die of Heart DIsease at age 16

Can someone die of Heart DIsease at age 16?
I'm 16 with a very low HDL. Im supposed to have 40 but my number is around 29 to 30. I also smoke, So am I gonna die?

yes, keep smoking smokers re-unite!
2 :
It is possible to die of heart problems at early ages, however the most common causes of SADS (sudden adult death syndrome) in young people are congenital heart abnormalities that are unrelated to cholesterol levels or smoking. If you continue bad habits for 30 or 40 years then yes, you are at risk of coronary artery diease, but at 16 your risk of serious illnesses of this type are low. You should still stop smoking immediately, its a terrible habit and raises your risk not only of heart disease but of hypertension, many forms of cancer and lung diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
3 :
We're not God, so we can't answer that Eat more fish, (or salmon oil capsules) flax seed (ground) and you'll see a rise in your HDL. BTW, its the LDL that is the actual culprit in heart disease. HDL just helps to remove cholesterol from your arteries, thus being labeled a good cholesterol. And yes quit smoking, only if you don't want to die!
4 :
It is possible but not likely.
5 :
you will probably not die, but quit smoking eat healthy and excercise healthy. Also yes it is possible 16 years old could die from heart disease, mostly congenital heart disease. I have a friend who died at 16. It is very possible,i go to a camp for kids with heart disease some are severe....my friend if she needs any more surgerys they will have to give her a heart transplant

Changing your lifestyle to include a healthy diet and exercise would help tremendously.
7 :
There are many types of heart diseases and they require very different treatments. If there's only 1 type of treatment for all heart diseases, life as a doctor is much easier and simpler! If you are referring to coronary heart disease, the way I remember the treatment is: MONASH BAL Morphine Oxygen Nitrate (GTN) Aspirin Streptokinase Heparin Beta blockers Ace Inhibitors Lipid lowering drug (Statin) However, in general: Exercise, eat more vegetables and less fatty & salty food, lose weight if you are overweight, quit smoking, reduce stress at work and in your life
