There are no advantages, when you have valvular heart disease your blood Doesn't circulate adequately trough you veins and arteries as it recirculate inside the heart, that organ try to compensate the deficiency beating at higher frequency causing a progressive growing of the miocard and eventually a complete shut down of the valves, provoking lung edema and suddenly the death

I don't know anything about the condition, but common sense does tell me that people born with enormailities are more expensive to take care of than "normal" kids. medicines, procedures, doctors visits. itll alll add up.
2 :
congenital heart diseases CHD as commonly known as can be of two types, one curable another noncurable. incase of a curable ones where there are chances of survival then the cost can be controlled. but non curable where chances are less could mean u lose ur money and moreover ur child. depending on the from of CHD the basic treatments could cost no less than 1-2 laks indian currency apart from hospital and visitation and test charges. there are schemes various hosp provide that can reduce the cost.
3 :
Its tough, things are usually pretty tight. Because of surgeries, medicines, hosptial stays, doctor visits, diagnostic procedures ect. when i go to the cardiologist and get a chest xray, EKG and an ECHO it costs 6000 dollars, my stress test cost close to a 1000, my pulmonologist visit and all the tests cost close to 2000 dollars. A child with CHD will need a cardiologist, some need pulmonologist and some need even more doctors along with the normal GP doctor or pediatrician doctor. Surgeries will cost thousands and thousands of dollars(around 180,000 or 200,000 but surgeries prices differ) Meds can be a couple of hundred to thousands of dollars Hospital visits can be thousands of dollar Having CHD can be Very expensive, and sometimes insurance doesnt cover all the care we need. And these are life long costs, there is NO CURE for congenital heart disease, well some may not need treatment most do. The only treatment is in a form of surgeries, meds and sometimes heart transplants but there is no cure

Why do Americans die more frequently of heart disease than Europeans

Why do Americans die more frequently of heart disease than Europeans?
And don't Europeans smoke and drink more than Americans? Don't Europeans out live Americans? I don't get it.

Fattier foods. The smoking and drinking doesn't do as much as eating unhealthily with no exception as americans do.
2 :
americans of the norm are overweight a lot more this is hard on the heart.
3 :
Americans have a little problem called OBESITY! We are a bunch of fat-a**es.
4 :
It's our diet...more fatty foods; less vegetables/ fruits. Europeans probably walk more than many Americans, also.
5 :
I feel its because we are always rushing around trying to find shortcuts and what not. In Europe they take dinning very seriously. They take the time to enjoy what thay are eating in turn care about what goes in them. Not to mention they are very active. Eating to them is pleasurable were is in america it just like puttin your shoes on.
6 :
Americas die faster than Europeans what!!!!!!! that's easy Amer cans eat to many junk food. look at the world record book. duh
7 :
.BECAUSE OF OUR DIET
8 :
because americans eat crap, in europe there is rarely a huge breakfest or meals based around grain and finely processed food. they eat meat, cheese, whole milk and hardy but less processed. they also eat smaller meals in general. as soon as my parents moved here from europe they both become overweight and unhealthy. its said and they finally realized it.
9 :
It's because of diet, It's a major thing that is different to a European lifestyle. But I think the countries with the most deaths from Heart disease are the Eastern European countries such as Ukraine and Bulgaria. I believe this is mainly due to the amount of heaving smoking that goes on in these countries

What tests rule out heart disease

What tests rule out heart disease?
What tests are done to rule out heart disese? Whats the difference between heart disese and heart disorders?

Usually a blood test. Heart disease is gradual deterioration of the heart muscles or blocking of the arteries. A heart disorder can be any mild problem such as irregular heartbeat.
2 :
There is not a specific test but there are several: Cholesterol panel: measures your total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol), triglycerides, and HDL:LDL ratio EKG (electrocardiogram): screens for any electrical abnoramalities, damage to heart muscle, abnormal rhythms. ECHOCARDIOGRAM: a sonogram of your heart and how well it pumps. Also looks at how the heart valves are functioning, estimates pressures in different areas of the heart and overall heart function. STRESS TEST: either done by exercising (i.e. on a treadmill) or by stressing the heart with certain drugs. Assesses overall heart function and screens for any ischemia (decrease in blood flow to the heart muscle). A nuclear component can be added which will give a "picture" of the blood supply to the heart and how well it is functioning. Angiogram/Cardiac catheterization: an invasive procedure that determines is there is blockage in the blood flow to the heart and can also measure certain pressues in the heart, valve function and overall heart function---THIS IS NOT A SCREENING TEST, BUT DONE IF THERE IS HIGH SUSPICION!!! For starters, get a cholesterol panel, EKG and an echocardiogram and take it from there!! Hope this helps!!
3 :
to rule out heart disease, the dr. will draw blood to check to see if u have arteriosclerosis. this is to see if ur arterys are stoping up with plack. he will take a family history. he taks a stress test on a treadmill, also a e.k.g. that is a tracing of ur heart. he may also have u wear a heart moniter fo appx. 24 hrs. then he will give u the results. heart disorders are, things like enlarge heart, valve problems, etc. i hope this answers ur question. god bless
4 :
A stress test is actually given to a patient who may have some mild contraindications of an MI. It can rule it out as well along with EKG.
5 :
Tests done: Most basic is blood pressure and oxygen saturation, then Lab work: clotting times, PT, PTT, cholesterol, triglycerides, potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, hemoglobin, hematocrit, cpks which tell if there is muscle damage. Then there is EKG, Cardiac Stress Test, Echo cardiogram. They do a heart catherization. These don't cover everything, but most of the basics.....A disorder is a problem of birth or injury that causes the heart to operate improperly....The disorder can be caused by disease of the heart. I hope this helps you......Just type cardiac testing into your search engine and you will get a lot of sites to look through and research.....
6 :
i'm not sure what the difference is, but please, please keep up with all doctor appointments. see i'm 36 and i was born with my heart problems and at 27 i all ready had my first heart surg. and now at 36 , i'm now what they call sudden death. and i will have too have a heart transplant

Is it safe to use Yohimbe with heart disease

Is it safe to use Yohimbe with heart disease?

Heart Diseases - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I wouldn't without checking with your doctor first. Heart disease is a fairly broad term. Yohimbine may either enhance or block any medications you might be taking. It acts on all types of blood vessels and has been known to cause severe hypertensive reactions in some people. Depending on what type of heart disease you have, this could make things much worse. So check with your doctor.

What is the difference between Coronary Artery Disease & Congestive Heart Failure

What is the difference between Coronary Artery Disease & Congestive Heart Failure?
Can someone please explain? Is either one more dangerous? ~~~ This seems like the right place to put this question, but I don't know if it makes a difference that this problem was brought on by diabetes. EDIT: Can you have both at once?

1 :
coranary artery disease is the problem in the artery blood suppying to the heart while the CHF means disease in the musles of the heart
2 :
In coronary artery disease the arteries supplying the blood supply of the heart can get blocked, leading to heart attack if it gets completely blocked because then the area a particular blocked artery supplies with oxygen dies. Treatments include statins for cholesterol, diet, exercise, and in extreme cases, open heart surgery to bypass the blocked vessels, called CABG. In CHF you've already had the heart attack or some kind of disease that affects the heart which causes your heart not to be able to pump correctly or strongly enough. Blood backs up into your lungs instead of going thru the body like it's supposed to, and fluid deposits in the lungs. People with CHF have to take medications to keep the water in their blood low so it doesn't deposit in their lungs. There is no cure or treatment, just medications (ie water pills, BP pills, etc) that keep water and BP in check until the heart, eventually, fails completely. Then you die.
3 :
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a narrowing of the small blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to the heart. It is a condition in which the blood supply to the heart muscle is partially or completely blocked. CHD is also called coronary artery disease. Possible Complications * Heart attack * Heart failure * Unstable angina * Sudden death Tips for preventing CHD or lowering your risk of the disease: * Avoid or reduce stress as best as you can. * Don't smoke. * Eat well-balanced meals that are low in fat and cholesterol and include several daily servings of fruits and vegetables. * Get regular exercise. If your weight is considered normal, get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. If you are overweight or obese, experts say you should get 60 - 90 minutes of exercise every day. * Keep your blood pressure below 130/80 mmHg if you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, and below 140/90 otherwise * Keep your cholesterol and blood sugar under control. Heart failure, also called congestive heart failure, is a condition in which the heart can no longer pump enough blood to the rest of the body. The condition may affect the right side, the left side, or both sides of the heart. * Right-sided heart failure means the right ventricle of the heart loses its pumping function. * Left-sided heart failure means the heart's ability to pump blood forward from the left side of the heart is decreased. The left side of the heart normally receives blood rich in oxygen from the lungs and pumps it to the remainder of the body. Heart failure is often classified as either systolic or diastolic. * Systolic heart failure means that your heart muscle cannot pump, or eject, the blood out of the heart very well. * Diastolic heart failure means that your heart's pumping chamber does not fill up with blood. Both of these problems mean the heart is no longer able to pump enough blood out to the rest of your body, especially when you exercise or are active. Coronary artery disease can be treated by open heart bypass surgery while heart failure has to be treated by heart transplantation. The former is a heart vessel disease and the latter is heart muscle disease.
4 :
Coronary artery disease is basically where the arteries that supply blood to your heart become blocked and narrowed. This happens due to a build up off fatty plaque in the coronary arteries. This is called arteriosclerosis. A reduction in blood supply to the heart results in problems such as angina and of course means you are more at risk from a heart attack and/or stroke. CHF means the heart is unable to sufficiently pump blood around the body. This results in fluid collecting in the lungs and tissues of the body which results in congestion. Both are serious problems.
5 :
In my opinion Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is much more serious than Coronary Artery Diseases (CAD). CHF means your heart is not functioning properly and is unable to pump effectively. This leads to fluid build up especially in the extremities, shortness of breath, and usually leads to a shorten life. Whereas CAD if not managed properly with regular exercise and diet might lead to a heart attack. To put it another way CHF might result if CAD is properly managed and leads to a heart attack

treating heart disease costs the us billions each year

treating heart disease costs the us billions each year?
"According to the American Heart Association, all cardiovascular diseases together are projected to cost $475.3 billion in 2009, including health care services, medications, and lost productivity." http://www.cdc.gov/HeartDisease/faqs.htm I know the pharmaceutical companies and people who work in health care benefit from more people being sick but are their benefits greater than the losses, lost productivity, sick leave payments and etc.

feeding people cost trillions each year, so what is our point?
2 :
I think you are becoming aware that what we call treating heart disease, is just making the medical professions rich, while us patients get sicker and sicker. One drug leads to 10 drugs. It happened to me. As a pharmacist, I should have known better. All the medical education is bought and paid for by the drug companies. Pharmacist who's life was almost ruined by Lipitor

1 :
As with most medical conditions, your doctor will obtain most of the information required for diagnosis based on the information and description of symptoms he or she gets from you during the interview. Physical examination and lab investigations help to confirm or rule out the different possible diagnoses. Listening to the heart through the stethoscope can reveal obvious abnormalities such as murmurs and irregular rhythms. There are other physical findings like extremity swelling, abnormal blood pressure, and fluid in the lungs which can help to diagnose heart problems. Subsequent tests such as an electrocardiogram (sticky electrodes on your chest, wrists and ankles to check the electrical activity of the heart for a few seconds), echocardiogram (ultrasound scan of the heart), and exercise stress testing (the treadmill test) can also be performed to confirm or rule out serious heart disorders.
2 :
some by plain xray like cardiomegally, in blood exams like high sgpt-sgot, thru auscultation like premature heart beats, some by ultrasound, some by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), some by getting the patient's health history.
3 :
Please see tutorials on Echocardiography, Stress echocardiography, Coronary angiography / angioplasty and Coronary artery bypass graft.
4 :
Most are diagnosed by obtaining a history from a patient, and most of the remainder are diagnosed after performing a physical examination. The history and examination determines whether or not testing (and what type) should be done and testing obviously will diagnsose those in whom heart disease was suspect after history and examination. Unfortunately a fairly large number of people escape detection until an 'event' such as a heart attack
