Could heart disease cause chest soreness to go on for over 2 months

Could heart disease cause chest soreness to go on for over 2 months?
In a overall healthy 26 year old FEMALE, having chest soreness, not pains, just all over soreness for over 2 months, could that be heart issues? She is going to the doctor July 3rd...she had insurance issues that were really messy, but are finally clearing up. At any rate, she quit smoking around this time as welll. The chest issues started a couple weeks after quitting. Also, if you push on her chest, the pain is worse. It is a little scary. Does anyone know the odds of this being heart related? Also, any other suggestions of what this could be? Not looking to diagnose her, just eeze her mind til she can get into the doctor. Anyone know what she can expect at teh dr? Thanks. As requested, I am giving more information. The pain is constant. It can come with her doing nothing at all, and is not made worse by doing anything like walking or any exercise. It is just pretty much always there. The soreness is all along the front of her chest. Sometimes her shoulders and neck will feel tense as well. And often times, if you push on it, it will feel worse. Any suggestions appriciated. Hope this is enough detail.

doesn't sound like heart problem as much as a muscle skeletal problem... as she quit smoking I would first wonder if she was trying to get healthy and had started any exercise program, if so that could be the cause... if she stopped smoking because she was having breathing difficulties then I might go for a chest xray and think about some issues with the lungs... If its a heart problem I would expect her to feel worse after walking than just resting, if that is the case then she might need to worry and get someone to look ASAP. Heart problems can't be put off... but you don't give enough details for anyone to make even a reasonable guess. For starters is it all over the chest or just one spot if its one spot is it on a particular side or in the center. does it get worse from activity or is it constant and unchanging. Based on the additional information you provided I would put heart and respetory way down on the list of likely causes. Muscle skeletal problem would be my first guess. Could be as simple as a strained or pulled muscle or simply twisted wrong.... Now... I might also suggest she get her blood pressure checked... she could do that at a drug store self check machine... but it is possible, not as likely, but possible that her blood pressure is very high. I had a patient with similar issues come in to the ER thinking they might be having a heart attack and the only issue that was found was very high blood pressure, the guy was taking meds for it but needed a higher dose. He was claiming soreness in his chest and some in his neck but no pain. Apparently the soreness started and was then followed days later by the neck pain. The neck pain was probably from the stress of worrying about the sore chest. Part of her problem is likely her being worried. Stress can cause lots you to tense up muscles and if your already having soreness from some muscles it just gets worse you worry more and it gets worse and it just goes on and on. She may find some comfort in simply changing the way she sleeps at night until she see the doctor.

chest soreness can be caused from stress

You should keep your MD appointment if symstoms excellerate seek ER care. This could be lung muscle tendon or heart related best to let the doc figure this one. Don't think the worst until you see a professional you will only make yourself sicker with worry.

I would be the last one to tell you this is not a heart condition if I didn't think there was a chance it was. What I can tell you is the symptoms you are describing are nothing like what I felt prior to being diagnosed with a heart condition or since. With me the pain/discomfort that I felt was never constant. It would peek and subside according to the level of activity I was performing. There were times that I would feel pressure when I was doing nothing but it would usually subside after a while. Nausea also accompanies my episodes. Shortness of breath and light headedness. The amount of food I ate also had a effect on how I felt. As long as I only ate until I was no longer hungry and didn't stuff myself I wouldn't get any dicomfort after eating. Nobody here can diagnose what your friend is going through. Only a Dr who examines her can do that. The only advise I am going to give is if for any reason whatsoever your friend starts to feel worse to the extent that she is having trouble breathing then do not ignore it and don't wait for any darn appointment. Go directly to a ER. If she has trouble funtioning on her own AT ALL call a rescue squad. Do not hesitate. I don't know whether this is something serious or not but I truly believe (based on what I know and have experienced) that what you describe does not sound like it would be an issue with her heart. I'm no Dr though. Wish her well from us...

It sounds to me like she has costochondritis. It is an inflammation of the chest wall. It can be caused by a virus and there is no real treatment for it. Just use a heating pad and take an antiinflammatory medicine like Advil.

I am not thinking so much heart and I am perhaps either muscular or even respiratory. Because I remember when I would have asthma attacks or could feel one coming on there was chest pain involved that was similar to what you are describing. But I don't think it is a heart issue. I would just tell/ask her to calm down, or even call the doctors office and most of the times they have a triage nurse and have her talk to the nurse and tell her what is going on, and see if there is anything over the counter like Aleve or something that she can take to at least help make her more comfortable Good Luck to you

How does someone get diagnosed with heart disease

How does someone get diagnosed with heart disease?

High cholesterol alone does not diagnose heart disease. There are a series of blood tests, EKG, angiogram, and others that do this

The body mass index, I, can be used to determine a person's risk for heart disease.?
The body mass index, I, can be used to determine a person's risk for heart disease. An index less than 25 indicates a low risk. The body mass index is given by the formula, or model, I = 700W/H2, where W= weight, in pounds, and H = height, in inches. Jerome 76 inches tall. What weights will keep his body mass between 20 and 28 for a set of all weights such that _____<W<________

Though it does not actually measure the percentage of body fat, it may be a useful tool to estimate a healthy body weight based on how tall a person is. Due to its ease of measurement and calculation, it is the most widely used diagnostic tool to identify weight problem within a population including: underweight, overweight and obesity. Body mass index is defined as the individual's body weight divided by the square of his or her height.
2 :
Not directly but only in relation to the persons weight which if unhealthy can lead to heart diseases...

Try eating more foods rich in Vitamin B12 or go get a multivitamin B complex supplement (tablets). This will probably help with your heart palpitations. Try pork, beef, liver, red meat, clams, dried peaches, farina, egg yolks, oysters, nuts, beans, asparagus, molasses, oatmeal or spirulina. Spirulina is a sea vegetable not unlike kelp or nori in tablet form. Ask at your local health food store. Its full of easily assimilable iron and protein. CHEERS

This is more likely than not to simply be a minor anxiety attack. Unfortunately, it has a tendency to be self reinforcing -- the more it happens, the more anxious about it you become, and so the more it happens. Fortunately, if this is really what's going on, it's not serious -- just intensely annoying. See a doctor to eliminate any underlying organic causes, and then consider any kind of relaxation techniques (yoga, meditation, etc.) to break the cycle of anxiety-reinforcement.

you have something called stupid, and if you don't take care of it it's called death.

Actually, I've had "heart related symptoms" for 4 years now, but I tend to feel the worst when I've gotten into bed. Heart pounding, a little shortness of breath and sometimes even chest pains. See a doctor! I've had muplitple test and found out I have a 90% blockage in my left coronary artery and I'm only 23! I'm having an angioplasy with stenting on Monday actually and was put off work untill a repeat test one week following the cardiac cath. When it comes to your heart, better safe than sorry!
5 :
first you rule out a heart condition, for example due to thyroid dysfunction or any such cause. if that is ruled out yo ucan assume that its panic attack
6 :
Heart beats HB above 90 while resting along with short of breath is very serious if you dont have coughs, see cardologist immediately. Potassium can help regular HB

heart disease and spiriuality

heart disease and spiriuality?
i was reading through some census that the first disease that people die of in the united states is heart disease. At the same time i read somewhere that people with this disease dont allow spirituality in their lives to happen what do you think?

I think, there's no scientific explanation to explain the relation between heart disease and the spirituality. But it is not a closed statement to say if there's no relationship. I still don't understand the meaning of "spirituality" itself for them. The heart disease that usually happens in United States is Coronary Heart Disease that usually leads to a sudden death. But also in some references, it was said that "the will of life" can make the heart made an anastomosis (a new vascular tissues) to the affected heart muscles, so that the muscles could escape from ischaemia because of the obstructed vessels. Unfortunately there is no scientific evidence for this phenomenon.

It is a complicated/debatable topic, but putting the answer in nut shell " Many people have turn out to be religious as this is what was missing in their life, it's not something out of the blue". I have countless patients who became religious after first episode. I think they realized that doctors are helpless too. Hope answered your question
