sleeping with your mouth closed, but have Congential heart disease?
I sleep with my mouth open everynight and it's really getting annoying because I get so much yucky stuff in my mouth. I've been doing this ever since I was little, but I wanted to do something about it. Like one of these days, I'm just going to tape my mouth shut so I can breathe through my nose while I sleep. But I have congenital heart disease. I asked my parents that but they were like no way, don't do that because then I can't breathe. They mean since I have CHD, i need all the oxygen I can get, and taping my mouth will make it worse to get my oxygen. Heck I can't wear contact lenses because they block the oxygen from going into my eyes and I get more tired as usual (but thats a different story) I was just wondering if is it good or not to tape my mouth shut while i sleep and knowing the fact that i have CHD? Thanks in advance

This is by no means medical advice, but I wouldn't recommend that anyone tape his mouth closed. Talk to your doctor about a more practical and safe solution. I am sorry to hear that you have CHD. I don't know much about it, but my elder brother had an aneurysm, also congenital. Good luck and God bless...

Don't even think about taping your mouth, I am no joking, you may even died, or wake up with a painful lack of breath. Talk to your doctor to find a better way to solve your problem, "1 person 1 life" don't mess around with your life, no second chance.
3 :
Don't tape your mouth shut. It's dangerous, especially because you feel more tired than usual just by wearing contact lenses, and quite frankly, I would feel that it's uncomfortable. You could suffocate; you won't know what's goin on while you're asleep.
4 :
ask your doctor about a cpap machine i use one forsleep apnea. it keeps air blowing into you while sleeping its hard to get used to . but may be worth a look into.. check out a slleep lab at the hospital.
5 :
First of all your mother is right. You probably breathe through your mouth because your nasal passages are too narrow to allow the inflow of enough oxygen for your body requirements. You would likely still be able to breathe enough to stay alive, but maybe not enough to fall asleep and your cells would suffer and your heart would work harder. On top of that the tape would likely give you a lot of skin problems around your lips and may even tear away the tender skin of your lips when you peel it off. You also might have terrible nightmares or acidosis, or other problems from the lack of oxygen. I think you need to let nature do what it does best and learn other ways of taking care of your mouth before you go to sleep and after you wake up. Try brushing your teeth and a mouthwash before bed along with a moisturizer on your lips. Also try not to eat for at least 2 or 3 hours before bedtime. If its really bad talk to your doctor about it.
6 :
I would recomend not to tape your mouth shut, instead ask your parents to see your dr. and ask about this to them. Mabey your adnoids are enlarged and blocking your breathing so your mouth is forced open. My daughter has a CHD too....she will be 2 yrs. old in 3weeks. How old are you? Please talk with your parents and doctor about this..... Heart Hugs
7 :
I have CHD, but don't know about your sleeping problem. I do know that you should breathe through your nose because the nose filters out the particles. But I don't think taping your mouth is the answer, maybe you have a sinus problem or that's just how you breathe. I would go your doctor and tell him your question and hopefully offer a solution. Don't take the matter in own hands and make the situation worse if you don't have too.
8 :
I would definitely not tape my mouth shut. But you might want to consider a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea. If you do you can get a CPAP machine to sleep with at night. It blows air into your nose to help you sleep and keep your airway open so there would be no chance for you to not get the air/oxygen you need to breathe. Please check it out. They do sleep studies at major teaching hospitals.
9 :
absolutley not under any circumstances tape your mouth shut
10 :
not a good idea, you breath through your mouth because you arnt getting enough o2 through your nose .if you tape your mouth shut you wont get any o2, witch will put way to much stress on your already weak heart. just use mouth wash every morning. best of luck

Go to the dr and tell them your concerns. I think most people don't know until the first heart attack. We all think we're too young. A stress test can be done, a body scan and there's a painful test where they go through your femural artery or something.
2 :
go to a cardiologist if you wanna do a check up you can go once a year unless you have heart problems
3 :
if in doubt go and get a check up my dad has a full "m.o.t" every two years just to be on the safe side.If the nhs doctors fob you off which they probably will then try a private doctor they will charge a couple of hundred pounds but when the a ok comes through it'l be worth the money
4 :
you may know you have high risk if heart disease runs in your family, if close relatives had heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Doctors start taking your blood pressure when you are a teenager. They measure cholesterol when you get a full check-up. And, of course, they now you have heart disease if you have a heart attack. you can go to a doc, and tell him you want to be checked for heart and pulmonary risk factors. and yes, they think you should have a checkup every year or 2 , even if you seem perfectly healthy.
5 :
It is highly advisable to have a full medical check at least once a year. Plenty of companies now insist on this before contract are renewed or extended. The medical should include a heart stress test and blood sampling for both blood-sugar and cholesterol levels. During a regular GP visit, not all heart problems are detectable by listening with a stethoscope, so an annual full ECG test is well worthwhile, especially as you get older.
6 :
get the following checked: BP... ECG... lipid profile blood test... (TMT... if needed) that's all... if these three are OK... then keep cool... (for detailed information email me via V!A... )
7 :
I HAVE SEEN A PICTURE OF THE HUMAN EYE WHICH WAS DESIGN IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT CAN TELL YOU WHAT KIND OF DISEASES AND SICKNESS YOU HAVE . THE EYE HAD MANY CIRCLE SAROUND IT. IF YOU CAN TO ASK DOCTORS ABOUT THE SPOT IN THE EYE WHERE IT IS LOCATED THEN YOU WILL KNOW WHICH MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HAVE HEART DISEASE. IT IS BETTER NOT TO KNOW BECAUSE YOUR LOVE FOR THEM WILL CHANGE. JUST ACCEPT YOUR FAMILY MEMBER AS THEY ARE. THE TRUE WILL SET YOU FREE. BUT IT CAN BE PAINFULL EXPERIENCE

Why is the left ventricle more commonly affected by ischemic heart disease than the right ventricle or atria
Why is the left ventricle more commonly affected by ischemic heart disease than the right ventricle or atria?
Heart Diseases - 2 Answers

1 :
This is beacause the left ventricular myocarium is the thickest. Right ventricle and atria get some perfusion directly from the cavity by sinusoids and reverse perfusion through Thebesian veins. Left ventricle gets perfusion mostly in diastole while other chambers get perfused in diastole and systole. This is because the high intracavitary pressure in systole squeezes the intramyocardial blood vessels of the left ventricle in systole.
2 :
It is more affected because it works the hardest...it is responsible for the force necessary to pump blood out of the heart to the systemic circulation and when blood flow to the left ventricular myocardium (muscle) is impaired, it is more affected. Think of a person with lung disease who needs enough oxygen to walk to the bathroom and back, versus one who needs enough oxygen to run around the block...the one most affected by the lung disease is the one that runs around the block. The one just going to the bathroom and back is comparable to the r. ventricle and atria

We bought a registered bulldog and now that he's six months old have found he has congenital heart disease?
The breeder we purchased the puppy from is being very difficult and refusing to give any other info? Is it possible to contact the AKC and seek resolution that way?

yes you can have their kennel shut down, which is what needs to happen. because they are breeding unhealthy dogs.
2 :
Sounds like you bought it from a backyard breeder. You really have no recourse. The AKC does not govern these matters; "registered" does not mean "well bred." I'm really sorry about your dog. This is why so many of us oppose backyard breeders.
3 :
Just because th dog is AKC, does NOT mean that the puppy will be healthy. It is VERY likely that you purchased your puppy from a Back Yard Breeder. Where did you get the dog? How much did you spend? Did the parents of the dog have clearances? These are questions you should always be sure to know. Good Luck. Read this website about BYB: http://home.comcast.net/~NoPuppyMillsVA/What_is_a_Backyard_Breeder_/what_is_a_backyard_breeder_.html good luck
4 :
AKC won't resolve your issue. They will tell you that it is up to you to ask the breeder if the parents were screened for cardiac issues. It IS up to you. That is why educating yourself before buying a puppy is so so so so so important! Take a look at your contract if you have one. Is there some sort of health guarantee? If not, there is nothing you can do. It is a hard lesson to learn, but next time you'll know to ask more questions before purchasing a puppy.
5 :
All the AKC is is a registry for purebred dogs, it doesn't police breeders. Look at your contract that you signed with the breeder that you got the puppy from and talk to an attorney about this. The laws vary from state to state governing laws on breeders and about buying a dog from a breeder. Good luck
6 :
I do not know if you can get help from the AKC but it would be worth A try. Also in some places they have passed A (dog Lemon law) if you are in one of the places that has that law then the breeder will have to ether give you another puppy or refund up to 3 times the perches price or cover all the medical expenses. So you might want to look in to that as well. Sorry to hear that about your pup!! Good luck!!
7 :
You will get no resolution from the AKC. The AKC is a record keeping organization. The AKC does not guarantee a healthy dog. Now, if you have a contract with the breeder, stating a guarantee against any congenital defects for a certain period of time in the dogs life, say 2 years, you would have a leg to stand on in a court of law. It sounds like you got your pup from a BYB. She may have had any # of dogs in her pedigree that died of Cardiomyopathy at a young age. If she did, she sure as heck wouldn't share that info with you because she would never be able to sell a dog if she did. I really don't think you will get very far with this breeder. I feel for you. We have an adopted female Bulldog that originally came from a Mennonite puppy mill. She has severe HD along with many other issues. I do wish you well with your pup. It sounds like you are going to be in for a long hall, just as we have for 5 years now.
8 :
If you didn't sign a contract that guaranteed the health of your puppy, including cardiac, I'm afraid there isn't anything you can do.
9 :
Unless you have a signed contract with the breeder that guarantees against congenital illness.. there's nothing you can do. AKC will not resolve any issue.. they are a registration service. If you have a signed contract and the breeder is refusing to follow up on her end of the guarantee, you can report her to AKC and she can have her registrations suspended.. but that's all AKC will do. Registration is no guarantee of quality. Unless you have a signed contract that guarantees the health of the dog, you are out of luck

well he has had a lot of health problems in his life so i dont think so.
4 :
Drugs destroy heart muscles and the liver and other organs. They don't know. We may not ever know. They may tell everyone his heart was bad from age...and we will accept it or not. They may say a combo of everything he was taking lead to his death and it was "accidental" like Heath Ledger......... Nothing will ever be confirmed for the most part in MJ....the media will give us what we want and he will be talked about 50 years from now just like Elvis is still talked about.
5 :
no
6 :
99% cause of MJ's death is due to over dose of Prophfol
7 :
I heard Jay and Silent Bob took him out!
8 :
The autopsy keeps getting delayed. We have to wait ANOTHER two weeks. Everyone's 99% sure it was caused by Propofol given to him by the oh so respected and wonderful Dr. Conrad Murray.
9 :
Probably because any cardio- vascular disease would have shown up on the physical exam and random cardiac arrest would have shown up on his heart slides.
10 :
yes it is also uncommon for Anti anxiety and pain medications to cause cardiac arrest i should know, i have a dependancy to Benzodiazepines which are strong little babies that calm your raging mind of its anxiety according to my doctor Morphine will not kill you, like opium will not kill you, its what it does to the body by causing it to need more and more and that in turn creates anxiety the only drugs that could have contributed to his arrest would be Profotanol and demerol which are anesthetics, they knock you out and help you sleep, if he was given a large does, mixed with his morphine and anti depressants plus he had lupus and a Vitiligo and was not in good health, all of those things would have caused the heart to stop the only other explination that is floating around is that he was poisoned, that the pain medication was given in excess, you know like when people give their loved ones an overdose of demerol, morphine or Profatonal to kill them euthanasia that would be more likely, al though i do not know why the doctor who was paid millions and a close friend of michael would do that it was definitely too much of a strong anesthetic

A heart attack occurs when blood flow to a section of heart muscle becomes blocked. If the flow of blood isn’t restored quickly, the section of heart muscle becomes damaged from lack of oxygen and begins to die.
2 :
it blocks the artery hence blood supply
3 :
..it bLocks the arteries that carRies bLood.. ..to the heart.. ..that's why it causes the bLood to kinda stop fLowing.. ..i think that's it..
4 :
A high blood-cholesterol level (over 6 m.mol per litre or 238 mg per 100 ml) is undesirable as there may be a correlation between a high blood cholesterol and atheroma, the form of arterial degenerative disease associated with coronary thrombosis and high blood-pressure. This is well exemplified in diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism, two diseases in which there is high blood cholesterol, sometimes going as high as 20 m.mol per litre; patients with these diseases are particularly prone to arterial disease. There is also a familial disease known as hypercholesterolemia, in which members of affected families have a blood cholesterol of around 18 m.mol per litre, or more, and are particularly liable to premature degenerative disease of the arteries. Medical laboratories now subdivide total cholesterol measurement into several components, including LDL ("bad") cholesterol, which is directly linked to heart disease, and HDL ("good") cholesterol, which is protective. The relative amount of HDL to LDL is more important than total cholesterol. For example, it is possible for someone with very high HDL to be at relatively low risk for heart disease even with total cholesterol above 200. Evaluation of changes in cholesterol requires consultation with a healthcare professional and should include measurement of total serum cholesterol, as well as HDL and LDL cholesterol. ..
5 :
when the cholesterol rises in your blood the endothelium lining the arteries are damaged. the endothelium lining the arteries can be damaged due to smoking, diabetes and high blood pressure and also due to high cholesterol in the blood. when the endothelium is damaged the cholesterol is deposited in the arteries supplying the heart. there is formation of plaque. these plaque grow and block the arteries, there are stable and unstable plaques. the stable plaques decreases the blood supply to the heart causing narrowing of the arteries. but the unstable plaque rupture and blood clotting occurs which finally blocks the arteries. There are LDL(low density lipoproteins) and HDL(high density lipoproteins). this LDL cholesterol carries the cholesterol from the liver to the tissues and HDL carries the cholesterol from the tissues to the liver, the liver can finally excreate the cholesterol through the bile. hence HDL is a good cholesterol and LDL is bad cholesterol.
6 :
Because high cholesterol level makes its deposition in the blood vessels being insoluble in water. Accumulation of cholesterol makes poor blood flow in the vessels. Therefore, heart has to pump blood with greater pressure, which ultimately results in high blood pressure & other cardio vascular disorders

LDL and HDL are identifiers for types of cholesterols ... or fats. When you have too much cholesterol in your blood you're liable to have blockages in your blood vessels as the fats begin to build up on the insides or lumens of them. This build up results in heart disease as well as brain dysfunctions, like strokes
