probably not. probably anxiety. BUT you should see the doctor. Heart disease in youth is normally caused by inherited family genes.
2 :
it is a rear possibility.
3 :
Probably not but some diseases can cause chest pain...I suffer from a thyroid disease and high blood pressure and I know that can sometimes cause chest pains so it might be a number of causes for your chest pain...Your should tell an adult and seek professional help if you are experiencing chest pains!
4 :
Every organ in your chest and some in the abdomen could cause chest pain. Stomach problems are most often mistaken for heart problems by the average person. Heart problems at your age are most often inherited. That means in anyone in the last 4 generations of your family had a heart defect, then you are at risk for one too. Basically most people carry the risk of developing the heart defect. Most at your age don't find out unless there is a serious problem.
5 :
Absolutely not. Heart Disease is a mixture of a genetic and environmental causes. This takes a minimum of 30 years for a heart to become so unhealthy that it is characterized as heart disease. Go see your doctor for your chest pain

how long does it take to get a disease like cancer or heart disease from second hand smoke

how long does it take to get a disease like cancer or heart disease from second hand smoke?

1 :
depends how much contact of there is. i think many years, if breathed in regulary
2 :
depends on how much smoke is being inhaled and the person they might never get it or they could get it in two years
3 :
it usually takes effect as soon asyou inhale the second hand smoke
4 :
Not for a good 10 years but when it does then it will be a b***h
5 :
There's no simple answer to this. Someone who is exposed daily to large amounts of second hand smoke might live to 110 without ever having cancer or heart disease, whereas someone else might have problems within a couple of years of only light exposure. It's best to avoid exposure as much as possible, and live the rest of your life as healthily as possible.
6 :
Hard to tell. It make take decades, but there is no question that second hand exposure is responsible for an elevated number of deaths from cigarettes. Most problems begin to occur after twenty years of smoking.
7 :
It would be from prolonged exposure for most people. Some people might never get those 2 diseases from second hand smoke. Everyone's different when it comes to susceptibility.
8 :
This is not a smart question for Yahoo Answers since the majority of the people answering just so happen to be in the age range of 10-16.
9 :
One week, 3 days, and 7 hours, and 45 minutes.
10 :
There are people that have smoked all their lives and dont have cancer or heart disease. It all depends on if you are predetermined to the genes that cause cancer and heart disease.
11 :
There is no line where before you are safe and after you are not safe. Any exposure can lead to cancer of heart disease and the more, the higher the chances of complications. It doesn't work that you can be exposed until you start to have symptoms, and then you should not be exposed anymore. Exposure in childhood can lead to complications right away, or in 20, 30, 40 years.
12 :
Several years, and it is not always a hundred percent link, it is an increased risk

Anyone out there (Dr's mostly) know if there is a link with anxiety disorders and heart disease

Anyone out there (Dr's mostly) know if there is a link with anxiety disorders and heart disease?
Just wondering if there is a link between the 2, I've been dealing with 3 different heart problems since I was 14 and panic attacks since I was 18, I also have a friend who developed heart problems when he was young and anxiety disorders in his late teens. I'm also wondering if anyone else has dealt with the same thing. Any type of MATURE imput would help. Also, feel free to email me about the subject.

1 :
definitly. almost every physical disorder is linked to stress and the mentale.
2 :
I have read such studies and there is indeed a link. The study came out about 3 years ago and I remember reading it at the time. It causes lesions in the artery wall. This is called something like arturoschlerosis or some such thing. It is the cause of death of many people.

The stress of anxiety may be a risk factor but there are many other issues that come into play with heart disease. First of family history has a tremendous factor in heart disease. Also if you are diabetic. Your diet also plays a large role as well. Exercise is important too. Age is another risk factor. It would be important for me to know what your other heart issues are to fully understand what you are asking. But I would not say that anxiety alone would be cause for heart disease as you know that panic attacks can make you feel like symptoms of a heart attack. It might be coincidental for the two of you to have the same symptoms.

Hello, Yes, there is a link. It is usually has to do with a valve problem mostly Mitral Valve Proplase or MVP it is most commonly called. The thing about this is that it is usually normal in some people, and even if the person has this condition it depends on the extent of it.
5 :
Stress can elevate the condition, but its not the cause for heart/vavular disease. Stress causes tachycardia and palpitation, which is normal on most of the situation. But as i stated earlier its not the underlying cause.
6 :
yes I am there with heart disease and I do have depression that got alot worse after my 2ND heart attack, in fact it is disabling for me.
7 :
Well nice question really. There are two type of links. 1. One heart disease casuing anxiety. 2. Anxiety causing heart disease For first, heart diseases or any diseases for that matter would make you feel anxious for your health status - it is natural and goes away when disease goes away. However, in case of long-standing , hard-to-treat disorders, it would be wise to consult a psychiatrist for emotional rehabilitation. For second, the only time when anxiety causes heart disease are when they are both part of the same spectrum. This happens in people known to suffer from "Type A personalities" : worrisome, stressful personalities. Although no hard evidence exists but stress/anxiety can cause heart disease by following THEORIES: a. increasing blood pressure. Increased blood pressure over long time can cause heart changes such as hypertrophy, and resultant ischemic chnages. b. Causing atherosclerosis - a degenrative disease of blood vessels which can affect any blood vessels in cardio-vascular system including coronary circulaion. This can lead to different conditions for example aortic valve insufficiency etc. But both these theories are not 100 %. These are just theories that have been put forward and not validated to date
