Did you know 50% of women will die of heart disease?
I saw Oprah's show on this and Im'm in shock!! Are you taking care of your healñth? What is the number one killer of women in America? Breast cancer? Car accidents? In the past 12 months, more women—494,000, to be exact—were killed by cardiovascular disease than by any other cause. In fact, more women will die from cardiovascular disease than from the next six causes combined. Cardiovascular disease is a wide-ranging problem. "It's the rusting of our arteries," explains renowned surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz. "Literally, the tubes that carry nourishment to our different organs are rotting from the inside. And that's not just about dying from heart attacks and strokes. It's about kidney failure and loss of quality of life."

Wow that's an incredible amount! Wonder what percentage just dies of old age. I think i'm good right now, like I swim a lot and that's good for the heart but I hope I don't die that way.

You should probally check your statistics. 1 in 3 die of heart related complications and a majority are over 65

It is probably not appropriate to ask what hypertensive heart disease causes, as hypertensive heart disease is damage to the heart caused by hypertension. Thus, the sequence of events is hypertension, progressing to damage to the heart, after which there are many possibilities of further harm. Perhaps the most common forms of hypertensive heart disease are left ventricular (the main pumping chamber of the heart) hypertrophy (increase in muscle mass) and left ventricular dilatation (enlargement of the chamber size most often along with 'thinning' of the muscle wall). Hypertrophy may initially be compensatory, meaning that the heart will be able to maintain its output despite the pressure gradient that it pumps against. Unfortunately, all compensatory changes are designed as a short-term 'fix', and all eventually lead to further damage. This is where the dilatation fits in. A dilated left ventricle has a weakened muscle wall and does not eject blood as efficiently. This is systolic heart failure. Although I am fond of the term heart 'failure', I do not have a better term to offer. Perhaps you may think of it as the heart failing to pump enough blood to nourish the body's organs and tissues. In 1980, a diagnosis of heart failure foretold a five year mortality of 95%, but at this time, the diagnosis suggests a five year survival of 85 to 95% depending upon many co-morbid conditions. what kind of disease causes heart rate to increase but for body temperature to decrease at the same time

what kind of disease causes heart rate to increase but for body temperature to decrease at the same time?
my mom has had high blood pressure before and today she said her heart rate increased but felt cold at the same time..also she felt like she was dizzy and eveything went dark for a second like she going to blackout.im worried..what is this symptoms of?i googled the symptoms but i couldnt find anything. shes not on any medication that could cause this. i doubt its low blood pressure because she felt her heart rate increase not drop

Actually sounds like the signs of low blood pressure. Have you considered that it may be related to anxiety?

the increase could be caused by many things...even something like a pain killer with caffeine in it. sounds like low blood pressure for the dizzyness. get your mum to go to the docs.......it could be be nothing but get the doc to check her heart and make sure you tell her about the coldness at the same time. it's important to mention that the symptoms occurred at the same time. good luck
