Fruits, veggies, whole grains, foods with omega 3 fats... (avocado, nuts such as walnuts & almonds, fish, flax seed oil) Also, very important to avoid saturated fat like the plague (found in animal products)... basically eat whole non processed foods, no lab engineered fats like partially hydrogenated oils (a.k.a. trans fats). Olive oil and canola oil are examples of unsaturated fats and are therefore ok to have. I personally like to start off each day with plain oatmeal, with crushed walnuts, cinnamon, and a little vanilla soy milk. Really good tasting and heart healthy

whats the difference between heart and cardiovascular disease

whats the difference between heart and cardiovascular disease?
I always thought they were the same thing but I read somewhere that they aren't. Anyone know how/why they're different?

asaprin doesn't stop heart disease what it does it thins the blood, preventing strokes and heart attacks when these vessels are narrowed by diesase/ plague

Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation... this is important because the plaque which lines the vessels of a diseased heart acts like a sticky fishnet... catching all the platelets which pass by. Platelets are the cells of the blood which make clots. Clots are usually helpful to prevent us from bleeding when we are wounded or cut. However, clots are very dangerous to a diseased heart because they can block off vital blood supply to the heart muscle. Remember that your heart needs blood to survive just as the rest of your body does. So as platelets pass by this sticky fishnet plaque substance, called Atherosclerosis, causes narrowing and hardening of the arteries. This makes it difficult for the blood to pass through... leading to a sudden blockage from a clot. This is when we then can have a fatal heart attack. Because the blood can not get to the heart muscle, part of the heart dies when we have a heart attack. Because Aspirin helps to prevent platelets from "sticking", it helps keep those narrow arteries open so that blood can pass thru... thereby preventing heart attack and strokes.
